    Hi Thanks for the review! I was coming from a firm, Sealy posturepedic mattress and just purchased a King Oceano. I found it to be too soft with too much sink/cradling for my taste, more on the Medium Plush/soft side. I also like to read in bed and was unable to due to the memory foam softness/sink of the mattress. Brentwood home's customer service was excellent and made the return/refund seemless. I just went to the Avocado showroom in Santa Monica and tried their vegan latex mattress with a firm topper, and really fell in love with this mattress and the in store customer service. Found out that I personally like the feel of latex over memory foam for a more sleeping on top of mattress. Hope this helps out people who are looking for a firmer mattress.

      Hi David. Thanks for these great comments. Latex can really work for a lot of people looking for something that's pressure-relieving but without that "sinking" feeling of memory foam. We wish you many happy years on your Avocado mattress, and thanks again for the comment!

    Review is right on time:). They just delivered my Oceana yesterday (4/12) although it's still in the box (painting the bedroom). Based on the reviews, I'm fairly certain the Cedar would be a tad firm for my taste, so hoping the Oceana will be the ticket. Looking for that "middle of the road" not too soft not too firm feel. If it's a tad firm I would think over time it would break in a bit and be just right. I'll certainly provide some feedback once I sleep on it several weeks. Hoping to get the painting done by tomorrow as I'm not so sure it's good for it to be in the box for too long:)
    For anyone curious, I just checked my box, the shipping weight on my queen Oceana box is 148 lbs. The mattress is 135 lbs. Shipping box dimensions (48x20x20).
    Thanks again for such a comprehensive review. My fingers are crossed I'll like it.

      Wow, sorry guys, I really gapped out. So it's now been about 40 months since I've had my Oceana. A little too much a little too late eh? My experience with my Oceana, it's a great mattress, but...wish it slept a little cooler, honestly it's fine. It's comfortable and supportive but it could be just a touch more firm now that it's 3 1/2 yrs in. I typically don't like too firm of mattress but I'd rather have it a touch less firm than too firm. It's a heavy mattress but I like the fact it's substantial. At the end of the day, I still look forward to turning in at night on this Oceana:) It's a beautiful well made mattress. I apologize for not replying back 40 months ago! That didn't really serve anyone well in their search for a mattress:)

      Hi Niel. Yes, it definitely happens. As we age, our sleep habits, preferences and needs can certainly change. In fact, one of the most common reason people become dissatisfied with their mattress is not that the mattress changes -- it's that their needs change. Side sleeping and needing more pressure relief is a very common scenario.
      Have you taken our quiz yet? We put a ton of science into this, and by answering some questions about your needs and preferences, you'll get a list of online and in-store models that are most likely to fit your needs. Then you'll also be able to see your score for the Oceano specifically, and see how it matches up.

    Hi Daniel, reviews don’t get any better than yours. Can you tell me which mattress you think would last longer? I’t would basically come down to a mattress with mostly latex or a mattress with mostly coils ?

    • @goodbed
      @goodbed  Před 4 lety

      Hi Robert. Thanks for the comment. Both of the Brentwood Home models reviewed here have a pocketed coil support. In our experience, this type of pocketed coil unit is reliable and time-tested from a longevity standpoint. After that, you have latex and wool on top for the Cedar, and for the Oceano, another layer of smaller coils and 2 inches of memory foam. While foam -- generally -- can be the weak link in terms of longevity, the Oceano only has two inches of it.
      So in short, we really didn't see any red flags for either of these mattresses in terms of longevity.
      Hope that's helpful!

    Thanks. I'm looking at these two and the wink bed, and saatva king mattresses. We are 6'3" and 5'8", athletic, side to combo sleepers, with typical athlete aches and pains. We tend not to love an all foam or latex bed sinking feel, so looking at hybrids but trying also not to get too firm or soft.

    • @goodbed
      @goodbed  Před 5 lety +1

      Hi. We'd really suggest you take our Mattress Match Quiz -- we created it for exactly this situation -- where you know you have specific needs and preferences that need to be met, like pressure relief. It's the best way to get to a short list of mattresses that are going to work for you -- then you don't have to watch a zillion videos. You can hone in on the ones that are most likely to fit your needs.
      As for the "sinking feel" you are most likely to get that from memory foam.; Latex is generally springy and quick responding with none of that 'sinking into the bed' sensation.
      Latex also has a good reputation for pressure relieving properties, which is a priority for you -- so you might not discount it out of hand.
      Definitely take the quiz, where you can specify what softness you are looking for.
      www.goodbed.com/mattress-finder/quiz/
      Then you can see where the Brentwood Home, Saatva, and WinkBed mattresses fall on your results.
      Hope that's helpful!

      @goodbed  Před rokem

      Hey Andrew! Thanks for the question. So these models will be quite different. Latex is very different than memory foam in feel, and has a rapid, "bouncy" responsiveness to it that is at pretty much the opposite end of the spectrum from memory foam. That said, both are quality options. Have you slept on a memory foam or latex mattress before?

    The latex in the Cedar Luxe can be changed out for softer / firmer layers.

    • @goodbed
      @goodbed  Před 5 lety +1

      Hi Daniel. We reviewed the regular Cedar -- that one is held together with functional tufting, so it would not be possible to replace a layer. However, we did hear from customers that Cedar sent them a complimentary mattress topper to adjust the comfort to their liking. The Cedar Luxe comes with a separate mattress topper that buttons on -- so theoretically it could be changed to adjust the softness.

    The GOTS Standard!
    Ohhhhhhhhh... Those gods! Lol.
    Thanks for the review. Brentwood Home's mattresses seem really luxurious and high quality. What held me back from trying one of them was the details in the warranty, that it covers sags/indents over 2", which is higher than the standard for innerspring/hybrids and years 10-25 are prorated. I checked out the Winkbeds Plus instead. Then, I discovered I love memory foam too much.

      Ha! Clearly my grandmother was right and I need to enunciate my words better. :) And with the many confounding marketing claims made in the mattress industry these days, it does feel like just a matter of time before some company claims that their mattress is certified to "God's standard"...
      RE: the warranty, yeah we were surprised by that as well. As I described in the warranty section at 38:56, IMHO the warranty doesn't feel consistent with the quality put into the construction of these mattresses. But nonetheless I would really like to see the company back up a well-made product with a strong warranty to match.

    luxurious at all. although it does smell luxurious though. but I feel

      @goodbed  Před 4 lety +2

      Hi there -- Thanks for your question. Agreed that putting these on the floor is not the typical use case. :)
      We did this so that we could show you two twin mattresses in a side by side comparison. Since we didn't have two twin platform frames to put them on, we did the next best thing and put them side by side on the floor. That said, you should know that this doesn't affect the tests we do in any way. A mattress will perform the same on any flat, solid surface as it will on any other flat, solid surface. So whether we have it on a solid platform or on solid floor has no bearing on our ability to effectively test and assess the mattress.
      I hope that's helpful.
