I tried to tell my daughter that if you have $200.00 and would like to purchase a $150.00 pair of shoes you simply have sufficient funds to make the purchase; that doesn't mean that you can afford them. There is a difference.

I've said it to my family and friends...🇯🇲🇯🇲🇯🇲🇯🇲🇯🇲🇯🇲 🏝️ but they think I'm being cheap and stingy, most of my friends buy cars I didn't because I choose to build a house first.
Now they all complaining about buying gas at times 😂
I will do rental if I'm traveling to visiting home where I'm building the house only if I'm bringing my son with me and that's like one or two times in the year. if not I take the bus and sit down for 3 hours ... Pay less
The day my son born July 31/2020 I didn't do any of those things I see other people do like baby shower and all.. I built him a room.
I gave him a bank account....

OMG! So true. At work I made good friends with my supervisor, older white woman. Really bonded with her, helped her daughter get on at our company. Long story short, when their daughter wanted to move out. They decided instead of helping her with rent, why don't we get buy her a house. Pretty much her husband has money, they brought a house cash for her, she already had no student loan debt b/c they paid it. Nice house, good neighbor, the house wasn't expensive however it needed things fixed that required some cash. Thing is she only has to pay for insurance and taxes. She has only positive aspects of money. This is stuff our black people don't get exposed to, but people are out there doing these things. They help their children with down payments on their 1st home. Generational wealth building.
You are right on it I am so tired of seeing my black mothers giving these elaborate birthday parties for their children and they could be putting that kind of money into some type of investment account.

Start by investing even as little as $5 a week and they’ll be wealthy by 18, fractional stocks or altcoins!
I was taught to save, manage and budget my money at a young age. My mindset of money was taught to me and I taught more myself as a young adult and now with investments, flipping and turning into wealth. Im learning and teach people how to budget and save. Because you can’t save what you don’t have. Get out of the check to check lifestyle PEOPLE.

I had a mindset shift, one of the most impactful reasons were David David goggins, I decided i wasn't going to be low income anymore cause I've known for years now how to make a good amount of money without compromising my desire to avoid working jobs i dislike for money

One of my kiddos is a model and he's 7 so that's super cool that she's setting her 5 year old up for retirement. Very encouraging. We took all our boys to a bank and showed them how to open a savings account. My oldest collects and wants to sell Pokémon cards and my youngest wants to sell SOMETHING. Plants, baked goods etc.🤣 I think they're starting to see the legacy we're trying to build and they're understanding the concept of entrepreneurship. We're always taking about the future. Hubby and I are 35. Debt is paid off and we're working on finishing a fully funded emergency fund after a hectic 2020 so we'll been on the road to homeownership. I've never been SO excited.
Soooo true …. These generational curses are unavoidable when you don’t have parents …. Some times you don’t even have a poor parent… you raise yourself. I love this knowledge you’re giving… Keep it going. God bless everyone reading this…. Let’s keep elevating.

Plusssss.....if they have their own income and file their own tax returns. Once they get to college, their financial aid application is based on their own income.
Absolutely correct! I'm So glad that this is being introduced to people. We can also purchase life insurance for our children where they can build a strong cash value. And build wealth! Lets change generations by making our money build for us! Great video, smart beautiful black woman !

Probably one of the most fascinating videos on finance I have seen. The things I never knew and am now learning at my old age. My kids are 21 and 25 and just now starting their retirement funds because of my ignorance on finances and investing growing up. It seems so simple, but you only know what you know. We have to do our research so we can set our kids up for success.
Just want to say Thanks Anthony for adding Color to what Dave has been teaching and giving it language that many of us would not receive otherwise unless it came from someone who looks like us. THANK YOU!
It is paramount that we teach our children the fundamentals of money and money management. We need to break the cycle of proverty. It is no excuse for it. We also need to be more demanding of our kids than them being demanding of us. They have this entitlement mentality it is crazy. But we have to keep fighting and demand more. It starts from early, not when they are teenagers. At a young age you teach them to save, (allowances, etc. They must save at least 25% if not all-take them to the bank to deposit their own money) as they get to mid teens you start having a conversation on investing. It's up to us to teach what the schools and society is failing to do for our young children...thus breaking the cycle of proverty.

One of the things we struggle with as first generation black and rich is what to Give or not give our kids. One nugget for you, don’t pay for their college, make them pay for it, without debt (people work hard for what they actually have to pay for) and then when they graduate, pay them back, let them buy their own first house with that, and keep some cash back for their first seed money for a business.
Anthony - I am now subscribed and looking forward to great information. My two cents from experience: Pay for state college, but allow them to make up the dollar difference in scholarships to go to whatever college they want and buy the house or condo at college graduation so as a single adult they have an asset and can build their own financial success BEFORE MARRIAGE. They and the new spouse is responsible for buying the house - you pay for the wedding of their dreams. Don't cripple the new spouse by getting into their finances, your child should choose a spouse well -- based on how you raised them. Your dollars now go to building for the grandkids.

Wow. 13, 8, and 5 y/o with IRAs. Yeah social media definitely is killing people’s mindset. I told someone I opened a Vanguard Roth IRA and they said it was dumb, but it’s going to help supplement my retirement and if I really want to I can use what’s in it and the profits tax free after 5 years for a home purchase. I also believe it can be used tax free to further my education.

@@c0wboys4life they said that I shouldn’t worry about things like that because it is essentially a retirement fund and life is too short and unexpected. They didn’t know it’s other uses and I didn’t feel like wasting my time explaining. I don’t live a hermit. I still travel and do plenty of things, but I do understand their point of view as well.

As unexpected life can it be you always wanna be ready for what the world offers you and if you happen to make it to retirement age you should be ready not working 40 hours a week as a elder. If people out here can save up for some Jordan’s putting to aside money for your future or emergencies should be not a issue at all….they act like we putting our whole checks into it and while there might be people who actually do I myself and others still go out here enjoying life as much as we can while our money out here growing and working for us while we out and about.
