Happy to see another video! I've recently started building my first escape room for a church youth group event in the near future. Fingers crossed it actually goes well. Haha
Thanks for tuning in! Good luck on your room!
Super cool project guys!! Love the interaction you provide in your builds!
Hey Brian! I lobe the fact that you lobe that!
Gratuitous Sets LOL, doh 🤦♂️
Mooshable overlap! LOVE IT!
MOOSH!!!
Glad to see you guys are still in the swing of things! I'm always a huge fan of moving parts in escape rooms, and getting to see the demo of the sliding wall was pretty spectacular.
I wish things were swinging more than they are! This installation was 18 months ago! There have been quite a few non- disclosable projects, but the big project we are working on now is a... seemingly recovered object. A “tower clock” from a MLB team’s old stadium. It’s a giant clock build that functions. I have a feeling it is gonna bore a lot of subscribers. Hopefully we can make it seem entertaining!
I have been waiting for this video since you guys first started building the pieces. Thank you!
Dang it! You should have yelled at us in the comments! Glad to finally show it to you! (Sometimes we really suck) 😁
Love the French Cleat setup.
Once you figure it out, it's soooooo handy!
Awsome job! I would love to make stuff like this for my school!
Thanks so much!
Awesome work
Thanks a lot 😊
Love how there’s an Egyptian Tomb in the middle of snowy Alaska 😂. Looks great, and so clever that you’ve allowed the set to adjust to the size of the room. Also nice to see that the colour of the walls isn’t just beige which quite a few places like to use. Love that square panel that moves backwards into the wall too. Can’t wait to see more of your work. Shame some of your games aren’t here in the UK, as getting myself and a friend out to America isn’t the easiest thing in the world lol, though I gather in America a single person can play and you’re thrown in a room with others? Generally in the uk when you book, you book the room, so if there’s just two of you then that’s it. I guess it’s because some people prefer only to play games with their friends than strangers. Though there was one incident where me and a friend, and a couple, were both at the same venue playing two separate games, but we enjoyed ourselves so much we both wanted to do another room. The couple got there before us though and booked the other room, but because we’d been chatting we all decided to team up and take the room on. Just as well as it’s their hardest room and I think two people would have struggled, but as a foursome we won :)
Thank you again, sir! It was a fair bit of work!
Generally, US games don't have a firm rule about off-number players... but if you agree to play together, it's considered a kindness. If you really want to play as a pair, that's totally cool
Ah that’s good to know :)
So do tell... is there an escape room theme you’d like to be commissioned to do that you currently haven’t been? So far your videos show, steampunk, Houdini/art deco, Egyptian, Mayan, and space, so was just curious what other themes you’d love to do.
Superhero/supervillain secret lair.
Nice :) can just imagine what a supervillains lair would look like haha. I guess id like you see a good Atlantis based game, as most that I’ve seen at the moment aren’t fully playing on the theme. Steampunk is one I’ve seen only a couple of times, so would like to see more of that :) Id love a two hour epic time travel game. Something a bit like a TARDIS where you enter a small box into a large room, and then the room rotates as it travels to each time zone so you’re always using the same entrance/exit but each time you go out the doors you’re somewhere else. There’s a sort of room like that here in the UK (though it’s not time travel) because it was built in an old car garage with a turntable and they utilised it and made it part of the game that the whole room spins once in a while to take you to another room.
Nice catch to have a ready-to-go turntable!
Very Nice room, i love tot se more of it
Me too!
This is awesome.
seriously, why so hostile?
lol
Beautiful set, and I love the recessing wall panel. Can't wait to share our collaboration with everyone!
That was fun- we need to figure out how to collaborate more. Yes, I agree. That grinding stone cue tickles me in all the right places. The seam hide was all Matt-serious kudos there!
@@GratuitousSets We're absolutely down to do more stuff together.
It was fun... and we learned things... but in the end, the true meaning all along was friendship.
Crap...I guess I missed the epilogue... 🤣
Great to see a video of the team again :) Smart way of making a "transformer" room! I still want to make some french cleats for my storage room :)
Thanks!
Koen! Miss you guys.
@@GratuitousSets We miss you also! Need to plan our next overseas trip as soon as we are allowed.... Hope business is picking up over there, over here it is slowly gladfully :) Ilse is also missing our US friends a lot
Soon, I hope
Yet another amazing design!
You old softie!!!
Gratuitous Sets Must be losing it in my old age ;)
Your standards are SO low... 🤣
Gratuitous Sets Quarantine has lowered all of our standards I think 🤔
This dog food is totally fine with some salt and Tabasco...
Wow, that's a 1000 times better than the Egyptian room I went to in the U.K. Will we be seeing any of the space ship room you were making panels and puzzles for?
Thanks so much! The spaceship we installed in Chile was a good deal more labor intensive due to the room having masonry walls (surprise!). We didn't have as much time to film as we'd have liked, so we're not really sure if we really have enough footage for a good video.
Another method for locking flats to a wall would be to leverage coffin locks with a plug hiding the tool hole.
Roto-Locks are great! Especially if you plan to disassemble/reassemble things a lot.
Well thank you, today I learned a thing. I knew roto-locks existed but never knew the name.
How do you handle the ceiling? Did you create flats and suspend them from ceiling anchors? What about the floor? Did you treat that?
Ceiling is sprayed stone, floor is beige concrete😎
You brought Egypt to the far tundra. Well done. Seeing behind the curtain is always interesting.
Yeah ! It actually was a bit weird. The installation was in freakin’ January! How have you been doing in all this mess?
@@GratuitousSets I got a 3d printer on black friday that sat mostly idle until the plague and since then it has been making lots of things.
like what? Give me examples, dammit!😁
@@GratuitousSets instagram.com/blizatrex/ is where all my projects live.
Dice tower, tooth fairy, mini nuke, CHECK! Beautiful stuff!!
Nice
Hey, thanks!
Always late with my comments. At about 4:40 in the video Matt is showing the hidden sliding stone door. I am curious if the door just opens during game play and gets closed when the room is reset. I want to build something that opens and closes but don't want to create a pinch point and crush a hand or finger.
The players dont have a reason to close the sliding stone here, but it could be held with rare earth magnets so it would yield given any any resistance. (Ask for clarification if I didn't explain that well.)
In the "Superspace" video, we feature a solid PVC iris. That iris is backlit behind a plex door. The door is held closed by a maglock when the iris is closed as well as while operating. The player must positively re-engage the door maglock (securely close the door) before the button to close the iris will function. This is communicated to players through warning lights (similar to operating an airlock). They can see the iris operate (in all its glory) but can't touch it-ever. The method we use for these safety considerations would vary depending on theme and thereby, materials and methods, but it is just a matter of some creative engineering and problem solving...🤔
First! 😲
I'm in awe of your dedication!
@@GratuitousSets its the least i can do for good content! :)
Awww, shucks 😊
How do you explain social distancing to a mummy?
It's like talking to a wall!
I've been watching your videos for a few years now, I only just got the pun in your company name... /facepalm
Lol! We really wanted something subtle.
I got a "holy shi- ohhh, **SETS**" from a grocery store clerk at the shirt haha
LOL!!! I'm not sure who this is from the screen name... Bre? Who is this? 🤣
@@GratuitousSets I'm just a nobody haha.
Jeremy Walker in GA. y'all sent me a shirt a while ago and we've chatted a few times on the phone.
Jeremy! Woot!! Didn't your old CZcams name used to be Jeremy Walker? Jerm W is new?
Sure you can't give us just a hint? Any way to cheat? Promise I won't tell anyone!
You beautiful bastard!!! 😂
