    Very clear instructions on removing the cover and upgrading RAM. I will try the SSD drive replacement after I get a better understanding of how to transfer the OS>

    Excellent Video! I would have liked a little more detail, but you still gave me an idea of what I need. Example: For the M.2 drive, mention whether it's 2242 or 2280, B,M or Sata III connections?

    Thanks for the video, May i ask, can we install the OS to the m.2 SSD in our Spin 3(SP315-51-52EF)? Thanks for your answer..
    I have ACER Spin3 SP315-51-52EF, what exact specification of M.2 ssd for possible upgrade?

    So I need to completely replace the HDD/SSD this came with. I saw you used a Kingston memory piece. Is that really needed? I was going to put a 500GB SSD as a replacement. I don't mind adding more memory but I mainly need a new SSD/HDD to install a new OS onto. Appreciate the informative video. Also is there a limit to the SSD drive that can be installed? 1TB, 4 TB, etc?

      If your laptop just came with 2.5" hard drive then you can keep it for storage and just do what i did and install additional m.2 ssd, they come with bigger sizes just i didn't have bigger one.
      Or you can replace 2.5" HDD with 2.5" SSD. Really it's up to you. As for max capacity for ssd: have not tested anything beyond 1TB so will work with 1TB.

      @@ToxicNerd When the laptop boots up, is the usable storage between the m.2 ssd and 2.5" hard drive shown as combined? Or are they shown as drive c: and drive e: with whatever memory is involved?
      I believe my 2.5" drive has died, so it must be replaced. I do t believe you can install an OS onto a m.2 ssd can you?

    • @ToxicNerd
      @ToxicNerd  Před 2 lety +2

      @@christianrayford5802 They are not combined, separate drives. Yes, You can install OS to whatever drive you choose during installation. Both 2.5" and M.2 support OS boot.

      @@ToxicNerd Appreciate all the help! I've managed to remove panels, remove the current HDD and found that someone had already installed a 8GB ram.
      My last question is for the form factor 2280 M2. I can find no readily available motherboard manual for the laptop.
      Is this laptop compatible with NVMe SSD? Or is it only compatible with the 2280 M.2. SSD?

      That's because it only supports a Sata III (no NVME or PCIe)
