  • Claire Pounder Lead Cancer Nurse, Caroline Tweedie and Nealy Tate Breast CNS's and Yvonne Anderson Gynae- Onc Nurses have recorded a podcast to celebrate the National Cancer Clinical Nurse Specialist day at the Live8K studio's Gateshead.
The second National Cancer Clinical Nurse Specialist Day is Wednesday 26th April, celebrating, increasing awareness and promoting the role of the Cancer CNS. Nationally, the specialist cancer nursing work force is an aging population with an 18% older workforce than that of general nursing, with 30% of CNSs looking to retire in the next 8 years.
Cancer is a complex and significant disease affecting 1 in 2 of us during our lifetime. In the UK, the number of people living with a cancer diagnosis is set to double to 4 million in 2030. The CNS role is a vital source of support to patients, with access to a CNS is consistently flagged as a major factor in improving the experience of cancer patients.
Please come along to our CNS stall in ECC on Wednesday 26th April 10am to 3pm to find out more and celebrate the Cancer CNS role. Look out for Trust social media channels and listen to our cancer CNS Podcast @Gateshead_NHS #NationalCancerCNSDay.
