      They just want money and to force unnecessary medical intervention to increase a C-section so they get paid more. They will abuse and assault you during birth to stress you and the baby and increase pain so you agree to further intervention.

      If you have had a baby before, it gives you a chance to watch and listen to your body during each stage of pregnancy and delivery.
      When doing an unassisted birth, from your pervious experience(s) and if you feel something that isn’t right, listen to your body and that would be the time you should go to a hospital.
      If you research like you’re preparing for a marathon, you will be highly educated on what to look for, feel for, ect.

      I called one of those 4D ultrasound places that do ultrasounds for entertainment. When I got there they wanted me to sign a form acknowledging that this was not a medical ultrasound and that I was under a doctor's care. I told them I couldn't sign it because I was doing my own prenatal care and not under the care of a doctor. She said that was fine; the reason for the form was to cover them so as long as I understood, I could sign it and get the ultrasound. The next pregnancy, I didn't even bring it up. (It was the same place.) I just signed the form and got the ultrasound.

      @TheMillsFamilyVlog  Před 4 lety +4

      Andrea died last year from a fast spreading cancer, this is Tom her husband, I can answer most of those things for you!
      We never gave her the shot while pregnant, in fact many doctors say it should never be given to a pregnant woman, after is fine.
      She did tear once, but it wasn't a big deal, and in fact is much better than being cut. There wasn't much even needed if I recall.

You can get surgical stitches on amazon if you want some for emergency on hand or find a midwife/dr to examine. (On my 6th pregnancy now, have never torn. Only got cut (an episiotomy) once with the first baby - hospital experience gone wrong)

    Another question: I am RH - too, have you ever NOT gotten the shot after? I have always received the rhogam, but am considering not. I am becoming more and more uncomfortable with the idea of my blood getting drawn too. One of my samples went "missing" which is really strange to me. Have you ever checked into all the crazy theories about where the RH- bloodline really comes from? Some craaaaazy ideas, like maybe it's nephiim (fallen angel) !?!

    • @TheMillsFamilyVlog
      @TheMillsFamilyVlog  Před 8 lety +4

      Someone was just telling me about that the other day; I'd never heard of it before. I have stopped getting RhoGam during my pregnancy, but I still get it after. I would like to stop, but I haven't felt confident about it. I read a book on the topic, but it didn't really give any conclusions. I would love to find out if there were people who have went without it, though. The only story I ever heard was a woman Dr. Christopher talked about. She had a few babies that all had to have blood replacement at birth. Then she drank raspberry leaf tea throughout her last pregnancy and her next baby was fine. (I think this was before RhoGam.) The problem is that the story doesn't say anything about what blood type the new baby was. If it was Rh - too, then the baby would have been fine no matter what. If you ever come across anything, I'd love it if you'd share with me!

    • @lindseypruitt4094
      @lindseypruitt4094 Před 7 lety +8

      I'm just going to start with the fact that I'm not a nurse or doc. I'm just a medical lab tech who has a special fondness for blood banking.
      I'm just going to break this down for anyone reading comments as I can see from your videos you are already aware. Red blood cells (RBC's) have many different types of antigens on them. The antigens help your body identify which ones belong and are fully functional. If another RBC comes along that doesn't look like the rest of your RBC's, your body will develop antibodies against the new antigens present on those cells. These antibodies allow your body to identify and destroy cells possessing those antigens with more speed and efficiency.
      In the case of Rh, a positive Rh person has an Rh antigen and a negative one does not. If a Rh neg person gets some Rh pos blood in their system, they develop an antibody against it-- anti-RhD. This particular antibody can cross the placenta, attach to, and destroy any Rh pos RBC's it finds.
      Rhogam's purpose is to prevent mom from developing anti-RhD. It functions just like anti-RhD and helps destroy any Rh pos RBCs before mom can develop any of her own antibodies. This does mean that it can cross the placenta too, however one shot of rhogam can only neutralize 1cc of Rh positive blood and then it is gone. This is generally the amount of a minor fetal/maternal bleed and would thus be gone before it reached baby. If your body is making it, it would just keep making more until all Rh positive RBC's were gone.
      In order for the shot to be as effective as possible, it must be given within 72 hours of whatever caused the fetal-maternal bleed. For most women--barring tramas such as falls, car accidents, etc--this is most likely to happen at birth, if it occurs at all. As with all things medical, there is a test for that and it only takes about 15 minutes to run once it gets to the testing lab. If you had a friendly provider, you might be able to get them to just screen your blood for fetal cells after birth instead of just mandating you take the shot. You can decide whether to take it or not after the results come back. I am completely unfamiliar with negative side effects from taking the shot. All I do know is that rhogam interferes with antibody screens (this are used to test sensitization) and can make it appear like you have anti-RhD, when you don't. Rhogam can continue to cause this interference from 3 to six months post injection.
      Here's what could happen if you don't take it and you needed to. The first time you become sensitized, baby will be fine. Any subsequent Rh negative babies, will be fine. Any subsequent Rh positive babies have a very very high risk of developing severe hemolytic disease of the newborn (HDN). HDN needs to be closely monitored. If left untreated, severe HDN may be still born or die shortly after birth. Treatment during pregnancy could include a complete blood transfusion for baby (intrauterine), complete plasma exchange for mom (reducing antibody levels), or inducing labor if baby is old enough.
      If both mom and dad are Rh neg, then no shot would be required as there would be zero chance any babies would be Rh pos. As long as you're absolutely certain dad's blood type is Rh neg, no worries.
      Thanks for reading this far. I hope this answers some questions or at least gives you a new direction to aim your research.
      Wishing everyone the birth experience they desire baring judgement of any kind,
      Lindsey

    • @HomemakerOnAnAcre
      @HomemakerOnAnAcre Před 7 lety

      Thank you Lindsey for sharing your knowledge. Some of this I was aware of, some of it I was not. I knew miscarrying is possible, but I didn't know about HDN or Hemolytic disease in newborns if I don't get the shot...(but you meant if I were not to get the rhogam shot within 72 hours ONLY after a trauma where there was a maternal bleed correct?)
      Also, you are saying that if I get the shot within a few days after birth, it does not really affect future pregnancies UNLESS there was a trauma of some kind before baby is delivered, or some kind of trauma happened during the birth process correct? I like your idea of getting tested instead of just immediately getting the shot, but as you said, getting that tested when you have no established relationship with a doctor may be tricky.
      Noticeable side affects for me were an increase in migraines, weird skin rashes/ dry skin and extra brain fog after getting this shot. I would love to avoid it if I don't need it. The fear of not getting it an possibly affecting a future pregnancy was the only reason I decided to get it!
      Thanks for your time in explaining!

    Interesting! How many children were unassisted? I've used a midwife with all my briths but my twins, and the last 2 briths were home births, but never would have considered unassisted... it seemed too scary, but I'm thinking differently after hearing you talk more about it. I don't know if my husband would feel comfortable haha! Have you always progressed quickly? I have too... I think my longest labor was 5 hours, and shortest near 1 hour! After my 6th, I feel like confident i probably could do it on my own, but the aftercare is nice to have someone look after you.

    • @TheMillsFamilyVlog
      @TheMillsFamilyVlog  Před 8 lety +4

      My hospital labors were much longer. I think that we subconsciously control how fast labor goes, at least partially, and at home I wasn't waiting for anyone so I just let it happen. I had four hospital births, then two midwife assisted home births, followed by one unassisted home birth. Our last baby (who turns 1 tomorrow!) was an unassisted pregnancy and we planned an unassisted birth again. When my due date came and went, I was under a lot of pressure from extended family and my blood pressure was high, so I went to my midwife to make sure everything was okay. Ultimately I was pressured into a hospital induction. It was such a traumatic experience for me; I still feel emotional about it. I tell the whole story here, if you're interested: czcams.com/video/kuudgXPTqU4/video.html

Well long story short my sister whom has assisted in many births and my husband being a marine and soon to be 18 years old is, as well as me, are certified AED CPR so if we go that route we will be ready. I am really thinking about it more now. Also my family have been reading up on how to too so I am not alone here. Thank you for the information. If you have any more please let me know.

      Yes, pre-eclampsia can be scary. You can test your own urine to see if there's protein in it, which is the thing that they watch for because swelling alone doesn't indicate pre-eclampsia. It's caused by protein deficiency and/or progesterone deficiency, both of which a woman can remedy herself if she's paying attention to herself. It's much easier to catch it early if you're doing self-care.

I was told by a friend that u can have a normal delivery after csection and Lord willing if I get pregnant again I will dig a bit deeper into normal delivery and maybe even integrating some of these non medical methods. I am getting very sick of doctors telling me I am to old. I am 46 and still having very healthy children and NOTHING has gone wrong with me. Although they still try and tell me I am obese, or " maybe" i have heart problems. They try to find something wrong with me but have failed every time. I am in prefect working order. :) I know my body and when something is wrong. I dont buy into all the shots to children and monthly doctor visits. So thank u for yr videos. At one point I realized that everything that has ever been difficult for me or a problem with pregnancy or birth was due to medical care- not to me, my body or my ability to birth a healthy baby. For instance, I could't stop vomiting for hours after my 2nd baby was born, but it was because of the intrathecal medicine I was given. It's very frustrating to be treated like a ticking time bomb and having all of the joy of growing and birthing a baby be overshadowed by false problems.

      Unfortunately, many women needlessly worry throughout pregnancy because they have testing that indicates a possible problem that ultimately turns out to be nothing. (My friends have many of their own stories to share of sleepless nights worrying about something that was never actually a problem thanks to testing.) The extra stress added to the pregnancy isn't healthy for mother or baby and is far more harmful, generally speaking, than waiting and seeing.
