Beck is so diverse as a recording artist and seems like he'd be a completely fascinating person. I've always loved the melancholic qualities of this song. Check out the version of this with him playing the harmonium. It'll make you cry it's so beautiful.

Beck was in a very dark place during that time period having lost his grandfather. It was his way of mourning the loss.
