Dear Svenja, this cardigan is the perfect choice for you and your lovely complexion, even it matched with the colour of your glasses frame!!! Looks perfect!!! What you call a unfinished look on the collar seems to somebody who don´t know your litte mistake as a modern hint to an easily "oldfashioned" grandpa-cardigan. So well done, you could pair it with your beautiful white sewing blouses with a pair of light blue jeans and it would be very nice. My advice would be, wait befor you frog, because i would wonder if you would be very sad otherwise. Sometimes perfection will just calm done by waiting a while especially by the trap of mostly all knitters: perfectionism!!! We are all so catched by the oppurtunity of making just exact the perfect garnment that we fall to easily by this trap instead of seeing the astonishing beauty of the garnent that we produce by ourself. So be proud and believe in all the nice comments and wear it for a while!!! You will get many compliments i guess, Anna🤗

Just a thought..your Field Day cardigan perhaps you could sew a soft ribbon or leather printed with your accomplishment date to commemorate your nursing and cover the seam in the back where you feel it looks unfinished? You are a talented knitter!

That is such a creative and unique solution, even if I frog this and knit something else with the yarn I will definitely be doing something like this. Thank you for sharing!

Love your tops. I love sewing. I want to give you a little tip. For your first top, I think that you can be more confortable under your arms if you just do some dents (not sure if this is the right word) towards the underarm in the fabric. This will give you some ease. Linen is really a fantastic fabric and it is a very good choice. The more you will wash it, the more it will get soft. Thank you for accompanying me in my knitting this morning! Elise

On your cardigan….I would find a cute small piece of matching fabric and hand sew a strip right over that seam. I think that would be a great, cute fix to your problem. Good luck! 😊

So good to start catching up on your podcasts! 😀 And so funny - I’m working on Ozetta’s Field Day Cardigan, too! I love your yarn choice, but get how that one part might drive you nuts! It’s such a special yarn - I think you need to love however you choose to use it! I’m using Juniper Moon’s organic merino In Mahogany- another tweedy yarn. The dark yarn is tricky to work with, but it hides imperfections pretty well. 🤭
I loooove your tank and Marsaille’s sweater!

Because you said you don't know if you like it against your skin, could you use the yarn that you have your cardigan on something for your home? Maybe a pillow or part of a pretty blanket or something? Then you have the sweet memory of the yarn and your accomplishment, but you're not trying to force it into being wearable when you don't think the color looks good on you. I don't know, just throwing out ideas. This was my first ever time watching your podcast. I really enjoyed it. Thank you for sharing.

I think…as a perfectionist myself, I’d frog the Field Day Cardigan…I think it’s going to bug you too much and then you may not wear it. Your sewn tops are great! I’m seeing more and more knitters sewing dresses and skirts to wear with their knits! It’s great. ❤I LOVE the colors you chose for the Marseille sweater!!! It will be a really special trip memoir. ❤

Extremely interesting about your current WIPs and thoughts on your future knits. I too am trying to be very intentional in what I am knitting and in what color. I am interested in having a capsule wardrobe. I just sold my Corrie Worsted in Rgo and Ochre. While I loved the swatch and did not care for the cardigan I wanted to knit with it. I frogged it and started again with a off white yarn with some black flecks. and am knitting the Kingston cardigan. Also doing a major purge of knitting notions and Yarn now that I know my favorite tools.

As for your alpaca sport yarn, have you thought about a vest or a Slipover? Like the terrazzo or even the Semper Slipover by the knit purl girl. Could play around with gauge and get a great fall layering piece! Loved knitting with you this morning!

I think the Field Day Cardigan looks fantastic! It's such a lovely autumnal color, and I think it looks great on you. For the visible seam at the back center neck, would a duplicate stitch over the seam fix it? It probably won't fix the texture of the seam sticking out, but visually might smooth it out to look like even stockinette.
I can't wait for your Denmark/Sweden video. My husband is from the south of Sweden, so we visit Malmo/Copenhagen often. Your Marseille sweater is gorgeous! The colors are so elegant.

Hi Svenja! Your podcasts are inspirational and enjoy watching! Your sweaters are turning out nicely. For the Field Day cardigan, for the seam you could put a nice ribbon over it, and even run the ribbon down inside along the seam of the band to make it less noticable, or just embroidery some flowers (like I do) with the same yarn over it...just an idea.😊

    • @svenjaknits

I was so excited to see you uploaded again Svenja! I always love watching you so much, you have such a calming vibe and that sweater is GORGEOUS and will look so good on you! 🧡 I’m currently working on the North Bay Raglan by Jill Zilenski and oh my gosh, the pattern is so beautiful and the texture is so unique and enjoyable to knit! It’s DK weight and I’m making one in lavender for myself and an emerald green for my seven year old son.

I love your field day cardi and I think it will look great on you. What about turning the neck seam into a design element? Like a contrasting color welt and pick out one of the tweedy colors to use. I also like the visible tag idea with the date you graduated in blog lettering, again turning a “mistake” into purposeful design.
Keep going, I love your podcasts. Thanks for sharing!
