Didn't he though, I can't see anyone besides Eric voicing Kaiba lol. He hit the sarcasm of Kaiba's character perfectly, and has said that the role came fairly easy for him because he said he knew sarcasm was the key to Kaiba's character and is very sarcastic himself so found the personality easy to voice.

Yep. The movie is Canon to the Manga and Kaiba didn't get to witness the Ceremonial Duel. He got there too late and he then later created "Duel Links" system to find a way into the Afterlife to Duel him. Search "Transcendent Game" it served as a preface for the movie.

Well, besides plot convenience, you could say that it was thanks to Kaiba for giving Yugi the Millennium Puzzle and bullying him into bringing the Pharaoh back to life... So in a sense yes, Kaiba brought the Pharaoh, and also went to the afterlife to challenge him.
Not giving Yugi the M.P and pressure him to bring Atem back (plus plot) and the pharaoh would have not appeared once again.
Actually, in the Japanese version of the scene where Marik uses Ra on Joey, Kaiba actually praised him for making Marik go that far, having the internal monologue "Not bad for a deadbeat". I believe this is actually the closest thing to respect Kaiba ever showed Joey. Also, with Kaiba's threat in Duelist Kingdom, I can't say I wouldn't do the same thing in his situation. Mokuba is the only meaningful family he has left. Their parents died when they were kids, and their remaining family stole their inheritance and left them in an orphanage. And while many of Kaiba's acts are despicable, he's not an absolutely terrible person. He actually refused to be adopted unless Mokuba was adopted along with him. And with what he said to Alister, he was originally pointing out the hypocrisy in Allister's actions, saying " How many orphans will you create? How many brothers separated like you and your brother?" In short, quite a few of Kaiba's worst moments were the result of dub choices ruining his character.

Honestly I think beating Yugi and Atem to become the strongest duelist, protecting Mokuba, and running Kaiba corp is all Seto cares about.

Think that's bad? In the manga, kaiba did the following:
1. Created an amusement park full of lethal booby traps and marketed it towards children. He attempted to kill yugi by electrocution, decapitation, being crushed by a giant cube, and being shot by trained military personnel.
2. He drove his stepfather to suicide. Don't get me wrong, Gozaburo was absolute scum, but Kaiba still acted maliciously and felt no remorse for what happened.
3. Invented a torture device that could drive someone insane in minutes. He tested it on humans off screen and told yugi about it. Kaiba then uses it to torture Grandpa in order to extort Yugi. Finally, Kaiba uses the device on Mokuba as punishment for losing a game. Yugi pulled Mokuba out, but Kaiba was going to leave him in there.
4. In order to get the first 3 blue eyes cards, Kaiba arranged the deaths of their previous owners. He didn't obtain any of them legitimately.
5. We also know that kaiba had assassins, a serial killer, and a torture expert on payroll at the time. The torture expert is implied to be a war criminal.
Kaiba was a completely different character before he became an anti hero on Duelist kingdom
But Gozaburo was still worse than Kaiba. And it was less Kaiba's fault and more the humiliation that a 10 year old beat him.
I think I remember a bit of those things also being in Season 0.

The amusement park, falling cube room, and military shootout happened and the torture box was used on grandpa, but the line about "human testing" was left out. There's also no mention of kaiba assassinating the blue eyes owners in season 0's anime, but he definitely stole the cards.
Other things were taken out of season 0. For example, the guillotine was replaced with a giant robot and the electrocution scene was taken out entirely. Gozaburo's suicide was also taken out. Gozaburo walks to the window and considers it, but faints before he can do anything.
Makes me wish they redo it in its original way and without the filler

I love how Seto Kaiba couldn’t beat Yugi fairly (he only beat him once and that was by threatening suicide) , but narrowly beat Joey in their second duel when he thinks Joey’s beneath him 😃😃
There was one point in which Joey would have won instantly had he played a bit differently.
That duel was filler. Never happened in the manga, which is the source material.

I think this is my favorite of all Joey’s reactions to Kaiba. Haha.
Kaiba's is an evil genius
I’m not going to lie. I really see a lot of NPD or maybe at least BPD with NPD traits in his character. I think while he seems to have low empathy (not willing to even stop a tournament pause even with legitimate deadly consequences for Joey, not caring his supposed step brother Noah was neglected, threatening his own life as a manipulation tactic etc.) even after Yugi dispeled his darkness , (so technically, we mainly see him as one of the best versions we’d be able to see him kinda) being unable to stop thinking of scenarios as black and white extremes (“If I can’t win this tournament for this island i built; I’m blowing it up”), needing external validation in being the *best dueler* somewhat to feel worthy and deserving of respect (and maybe gain some supply, idk if that would be the case) , himself experiencing likely severe C-PTSD from abuse as a child, etc. leading to him consequently treating Mokuba as an expendable when he punishes him with a literal torture device (mirroring how he interpreted familial relationships) A lot of it shows his trauma did a lot more damage that shapes him overall the older I see him develop overall..
He has the capacity to show his cognitive empathy improving the more exposure he has to Yugi’s friend group and adjusting his social cues to be a bit less transactional, and is able to show respect to others more readily with that support he claims no need of as well.
@@sunnisideup444 of course that doesn't excuse his actions of what he put Yugi and his friends through.
The reason Kaiba is such a jerk was because he unknowingly got himself Mokuba adapted by a CEO aka Gozaburo Kaiba who made Kaiba the way he is, that and after their parents' deaths their relatives used up their inheritance and left them at an orphanage which was one of the reasons why he's very protective of Mokuba, it could be possible that Kaiba may have abandonment issues with those certain relatives and have a lot of resentment towards them as much as towards Gozaburo.
I wonder how Kaiba's remaining family reacted to him being in control of Kaiba Corp?
Still doesn't excuse the fact that he was willing to watch and even let people get hurt just to get what he wants.
And his lack of development makes it worse.
Seto was just a horrible person. Destroying an island before making sure everyone got off safely was one of the stupidest things he ever did, and it makes you question his limited intelligence even more. I guess he couldn't afford a system to destroy the island with a remote control.
Actually in the Japanese version, Alastair's brother was killed when the a tank shot a transport transporting him.
Yes. In English version they removed any death scenes and sexualy suggestive scenes. For example, there's a moment when Kisara is naked in the original, but they dressed her up in English, or when Tea is about to get raped, but they changed it into getting robbed. Or when she's concerned that Bakura will stare at her but, that's completely removed. Or when Kaiba shoots YuGi. OK, that one was a joke.
@@gracefuldice1956 Here’s another one. On the ship to duelist kingdom when mai and Rex was in his room, in the dub she wagered to kiss him if he won their duel. However, in the Japanese version as well as the manga she actually bet to have sex with him if he won.

@@gracefuldice1956 There's also the scene where Joey had punched Atem, but that was censored and Atem from scene to another is just spontaneously on the ground. lol But one censorship I absolutely will never understand was why the hell did they remove the scene where Yugi is talking with his mom?! Like I just don't get it, I mean what was the purpose behind that? The only time we actually get to see her in dub was when Yugi goes to meet his grandpa at the hospital, but at the time I thought she was the nurse because she doesn't say or do anything. Apparently 4Kids want to make Yugi an orphan like Kaiba.
And that doesn't even consider the fact that Kaiba Corp had nothing to do with it. We end up learning that Dartz was responsible for the brother's disappearance/death

Considering the 2nd place entry on this list after Kaiba first made the threat of suicide we fans in the west got our first look at how Atem acted in the infamous dark Japan-only prequel season known as Season 0 when he said "Don't tempt me Kaiba." The 2nd look at Season 0 Atem here in the west was during the Waking the Dragons arc during a certain infamous memed moment of a certain duel.
Ah yes, Atem’s final move on Weevil - relentlessly attacking with Breaker the Magical Warrior via Berserker Soul.

Kaiba's never done anything wrong but putting 3rd rate duelists with 4th rate decks in their place!
Wheeler was not a third rate duelist, and Seto was an idiot for treating him like one. Wheeler was a second rat or possibly even a first rate duelist among the ranks of Yugi, Mai, and Bakura. He was finished in the top four in Duelist Kingdom and in Battle City. Seto Kaiba was a horrible person. Also, the fact that he admits Mai is a good duelist while Joey is as good of one as her, yet he does not acknowledge that, is stupid.

In the original manga he's like a million times darker
For example, he forced the foreign possessor of one of his blue eyes to *commit suicide* just so that he could gain the possession of it, he created Death-T where he literally hired serial killers just so that Yugi and the others won't make it to the top, literally threatening to kill a bunch of children to beat Yugi in a card game. He also attempted to murder Mokuba when he lost to a duel against Atem, which is... Pretty dark. In fact, he was SO evil and broken in the beginning of the manga Yugi had to use the penalty game "mind crush" on him, which quite literally broke Kaiba's brain in pieces and sent him to a coma during more than half of duelist kingdom, where he had to revisit his entire life and rebuild his entire spirit piece by piece in order to wake up as a "better person". But even so he still stayed a jerk lmao (at least he had character development in the manga)
You know I actually liked the Waking the Dragon arc for actually showing a duel where the Pharaoh loses and out of his own mistakes. Plus little Yuki allowing his soul to be taken instead of the Pharaoh actually gave him another reason to continue fighting the evil soul-stealing gang.

Here is the worst he did in the manga.
1. After mokuba loses, he throws mokuba in a duel monsters simulator that let's him experience death.
2. Pays a serial killer to murder joey.
3. Lets Joey and yugi drown after marik makes Joey fight yugi.
4. Makes his little brother mokuba duel in a shadow game.
5. Kidnaps yugis grandpa.
Me: okay that does it no More Mr Nice Guy.

You're forgetting a few things.
He drove his adopted father to suicide when he took over Kaiba Corp.
He blackmailed the C.E.O. into buying him out of a company he bought 51% of for 10x the price he payed for it.
He hired serial killers and mercenaries as staff to go after the gang in his theme park of death.
He subjected his own little brother to a "penalty game".
He used his companies connections to the Yakuza to bully someone to giving up their blue-eyes.
He also drove another to suicide to get his hands on another.
He manipulated his brother in his take over of the company.
He created a theme park for the sole purpose of humiliating and (possibly) killing Atem.
Almost let Jonouchi drown.
And this is just of the top of my head
And he never gets comeuppance or karma for any of it.
His adopted father deserved it but he should have fell to his death when Kaiba and the Big 5 cornered him

With the Alistair vs Kaiba thing. Mokuba constantly tried to apologise to him, but he wouldn't listen. Kaiba said he was not responsible for what happened, and by the time Alistair put Mokubas life on the line, Kaiba had officially had enough.

_-The anime didn't let him do this, so he can now disarm a gunman who has the draw on him by flicking cards into the hammer of his gun. He can also deflect bullets with his attache case like Captain ****ing America._
_-Finds out that he's actually the reincarnation of the strongest waifufag in Egypt. His Dragon waifu is a qt. albino Egyptian that destiny demands he have a boner for._
_-Sacrifices God to build his future._
_-Builds said future on the destroyed factory of his adoptive father, just because._
_-Tries to build an afterlife machine to get one last salty runback with his rival._
_-Does not get erased by magic because his autism is too strong._
_-Actually gets his runback after everything in the whole movie tells him it's never going to happen._
_Kaiba is the apex rival character and will never be surpassed._
_Now you can play as him and bully literal grade schoolers. 10/10_

• Invaded the Egyptian tombs to revive Atem after he finally was able to move on to the afterlife.
• Gave Yugi and friends the choice to go home after competing in another tournament or stay stranded far from home.
• Betrayed the people who helped him take over Kaibacorp.

Funny thing is, while they were able to successfully kill most of the mature themes of duel monsters, they were unable to kill much of it in the backhalf of gx, backhalf of zexal and pretty much all of arc v.
Yugioh's always been dumb and silly.

The one thing that 4Kids had that were just as good as the likes of Funimation and ADV Films and that was their enormous talent pool from the NYC Area. While nowadays it's gone down since 4Kids but in it's heyday the NYC Area Voice Actors and Actresses were just as good and famous as the ones that were in The Dallas Fort Worth Houston and heck even LA talents in voice acting and 4Kids dubs of Pokemon and Yu Gi Oh shows it. Sure 4Kids as a dubbing company were bad but if you look at the other parts of dubbing they were good in one area and that was their voice actors and actresses they were and still are fan favorites even nowadays. Dan Green Wayne Grayson Eric Stuart Veronica Taylor Rachael Lillis Lisa Ortiz they're still very popular voice actors and actresses nowadays. That's why I hate it when people say that 4Kids were a bad dubbing studio because they were technically good in the talent pool that they had. If they changed the way they dubbed anime and did more uncensored animes I think they would still be around.

Actually he's far worse in the manga, the Japanese toned him down greatly and 4Kids decided to bring him somewhat back to the full pain in the backside that he was.

Yugi/Atem was the main character, Kaiba had the secondary role, then Joey was the third most important character. What's crazy is that Kaiba wasn't always meant to around too long in the anime but he was so immensely popular they had no choice but to let him take Joey's spot as the second most important character

In Kaiba's defense for number 9, Gozaburo was one of the worst parents ever, on top of being a war business man. I don't blame Seto for trying to dethrone him. Hell, even Noah, his biological son, turned on him.
Also, if you check on a filler from before Battle City, you'll see that the big 5 betrayed Kaiba first. They reprogrammed his virtual world and tried to trap him in there.
EDIT: just finished watching. I'm afraid I can't defend any of the other things on this list. Kaiba may not be as bad as Zigfried, but those actions really make me sick. I feel bad for Mokuba for having that kind of brother. At least Mokuba was reasonable.

Aren't we forgetting the time he nearly eradicated the literal souls of his fallen allies from existence while dueling Dartz?
Well, to be fair, they implored him to attack.

It's established in the Waking the Dragons arc that the monsters were real and no holograms, Dartz uses Yugi's friends as literal monster pawns, and Kaiba is like "They're fakes. He's just messing with you. Just kill them." It hurts even more when he mentions Joey after Joey's soul protects against one of Kaiba's attacks.
Kaiba definitely could have been sympathetic towards Alister. But it really wasn’t his fault. All though he could have sympathized by telling him how terrible his stepfather was
And their second duel revealed that Alister was a hypocrite when he tried to hurt Mokuba.
I think that Nearly blowing up Yugi and his friends is the worst thing Kaiba has ever done and can you do the top 10 Yugioh villains next.
This entire list is negated by the fact that Kaiba turned a multi billion dollar arms company that was funding wars in numerous countrys into the biggest gaming company in the world and got everyone addicted to card games. He's done more good for the world than most anime protagonists can ever dream of doing.

You are seeing things the way you want to see them to fit your own narrative of Kaiba being a terrible person. The worst thing Kaiba did canonically was kidnap Yugi's grandpa, but that was because he was literally corrupted by darkness until Yugi's mind crush put his mind back together.

If you were including the manga, you'd have included the entire Death T arc, which included Kaiba hiring murderous mercenaries and a known serial killer to waste Yugi and friends (including Tristan's/Honda's baby nephew). Also, his mistreatment of Mokuba prior to and during that arc (not even counting how, in the Virtual World arc of the anime, he mistreated Mokuba MORE as part of his plot to overthrow Gozaburo - something Noah rightly pointed out).
Then there was his actions before Yu-Gi-Oh GX, where he deliberately made the Slifer Red dorm the lowest of the three at Duel Academy, resulting in even more elitism among the students.
Almost forgot - in the abridged series, he also ordered Obelisk to kill "that weird zebra-unicorn thing" simply because it freaked him out.
I hated Kaiba in the first three seasons because he acts like an a hole for no reason also bullying joey.

4: Seto not responsible for anything, including Alister. He remarked he did deserve compensation for loss of family. Kaiba has a softspot for children. Namely growing up in dump orphanage surrounded by bullies, taught at early age compassion is weakness.
Oh come one. This is why we love Seto and this makes him a strong character with a deep back story. He acted like that cause he didn't know something else. Gozaburo wasn't nice to him either and people act like they learned it from their parents.
