Triple Beam! 2021 Lexus ES Night Review (Adaptive Lights, Ambient Lights, Etc.)

- The Lexus ES slides under the radar a little bit because of the attention the smaller IS and larger LS get. This is still a luxurious sedan and these optional triple beam LED headlights are pretty slick. Interior lighting is better than previous lexus models, but still nothing fancy. I hope you get an idea of what it's like to live with the 2021 Lexus ES at night!

The rear turn signal is led, it looks like it's incandescent bulb but it's actually led
Thank you for the correction, I’ll pin this so others will know. Thanks 👍
It's definitely an LED bulb, good eye :)
I have a few questions about the AHS system, theoretically the high beam should only dim the area of the oncoming car, but it seems to close the high beam entirely
czcams.com/video/qdsjkR2bigE/video.html
The Corolla’s high beam seems to turn on all the time
@@Hamsterlion683 is that the blade scan system? It’s not available in the US as far as I know so it’s either all the way on or off
Love these night reviews! Headlights are one of the biggest safety features in a car and I don't know why more reviewers don't discuss them, so thanks!
The long distance test is a good idea and looking forward to seeing how others perform at night
Love the lighting on this car. Especially those side turn lights. I was surprised the ambient lights changed while in gear... but after thinking about it I like it. Happy to see it does have some ambient. I love it. Good job.
Love the night reviews so we can see the lights and ambient lighting
Those adaptive headlamps are really cool. Another great video.
I appreciated this night video. What a great idea. 15:38 that editing was great with the audio continuity when switching video clips. Good stuff. Thanks for making this video.
Turning the steering wheel left or right will activate a side LED head lamp to illuminate either side depending on whichever way car is turning...the respective lamp only turns on when either you turn steering wheel or use turn signal signal ...very cool feature
Amazing review. You showed each and every bit of this car's lighting. I'm a huge fan driving at night and a fan of these modern day's car lightings especially LEDs.
Thank you, glad you enjoyed it!
I totally agree! Thank you for the review! I was on the fence when it comes to the headlight upgrade. I'm sold.
I love the headlights, especially the way they come on and adjust by themselves!👍👍👍
The interior is gorgeous
Excellent review! Thank you for taking the time to do this.
Thanks for watching!
This is one of the vids that sold me on the car this year. While I am a sucker for flashy/colorful, this lighting fits the mood of a quiet night and the car itself superbly.
Such a beautiful car. That color combo is definitely Lexus’ best. You’re right about the pearl white paint Lexus uses. I had a pearl white RX330 years ago, and I remember looking at it at night when the lights were shining on it and thinking that it looked so deep and silky, you could almost just dive into it.
For sure! The light really shows it well. Thanks for stopping by sir! 👍
I definitely wanted to dive in.
Great review thanks for the night reviews..nice perspective
Great video. I really appreciate the in-depth review of the car at night!
I have this car, the 350 one, Ultra Luxury, and I can verify that the side mirrors r auto dim, its just not aggressive as other brand/model. When the lights from vehicle behind is REALLY bright, thats when it kicks in, kinda make you feel natural as opposed to the green dimming. You have to drive it long enough to notice these subtle things. Thats what I like bout Lexus.
Hey thanks fir letting me know! I didn’t see anything on any of Lexus Information about dimming side mirrors and never noticed a difference while driving or an actual visible outline of the electrochroamatic function so that’s wild. Sorry I missed that. You’ve got yourself a nice car 👍
@@PrimeAutotainment Lexus puts a lot of hidden tech in the car, like the highway auto passing (when you have the turn signal to the left, the car automatically knows u want to pass and auto accelerate). That feature is only available in the Toyota Safely Sense 2.5+, but Lexus puts it in the LSS 2.0. I was surprised when I discovered that!
Hey Aiden can you please tell me if the FWD is manageable? If you notice a diff between FWD and AWD? That’s my only issue with the car and I’m hoping the difference isn’t much for revalue everyday driving
Very nice!! I’m getting tired of seeing so many SUVs. This is what I’m getting next
Excellent as usual Nolan !
Awesome review 👏👏👏the lights are impressive.
Thank you, agreed!
Thank u for the nice review. Keep up the good work
Very nice night review!
The rear turn signal is LED. It looks like incandescent but, the way it blinks clearly LED, incandescent blinks much slower
Gosh that’s another thing I missed in this car. My bad. Someone else said that too snd I pinned that comment so everyone will know. Thanks again 👍
And thank GOD it is. Can't stand how many OEM turn signals in 2021 are not just LED straight out of the factory
Quality videos as usual. Great job Prime.
Great review very detailed well done
Thank you very much!
If it weren't for your video, I would have never known that the Lexus offered ambient lighting strip in its interiors. I hope the 2021 LS 500 has that option too.
Did you end up buying the LS500?
Gud Effort Vro..Keep Goin❤❤
Great Review!!!
Thank you!
Excellent video, thanks a lot
That ambient lighting is beautiful. I don't think I'm the only one whos not a fan of those multi coloured ambient lights. I didn't know Lexus offered this until now. Awesome video. 👌 from a subscriber.
Thanks for stopping by! 👍
I love my 17 Corolla XSE headlights and the automatic high beams
Great review, I drive a Lexus is300h FSport and there is one option I’d love on my car is the auto headlights, triple leds would be nice to.
I have a white pearl Lexus and I LOVE it. An absolutely superior car. I wouldn't own anything else. thanks for a great video
Same I want my next car to be a Lexus and same color.
@@a261mb they really are the best of the best
8:30 that light is used in a lot of cars. And only turns on when your headlights are on. The entire purpose is so it's a subtle way to see your shifter at night. It wasn't designed to provide esthetics lol, cause if you did need extra light to see you'd just use your dome lights.
Use a flashlight to shine on your rearview mirror (simulating headlights shinning on your rearview mirror) and the side mirrors will automatically dim. It's the same on 2017 GS.
Love the analog clock
Like the interior, looks very comfortable. The headlights get high grade.
Definitely was comfortable 😁
That dip you’re mentioning toward the middle of the video, is meant to stop you from blinding drivers in front of you. Otherwise that would be perfectly lined up with where there driver rear view mirror is (in the US anyway). It’s something I’ve noticed many more cars are starting to do. It means they can have the rest of the light aimed higher without blinding anyone. That last part is debatable. Since automakers don’t have to comply with any aiming rules really. They simply have recommended guidelines. So you know many of them probably aim them a tad higher than they should be. The result is owners think they’re lights are just that tiny bit more amazing because they illuminate a bit further out In low beam mode. Still most are aimed well. I just notice that Nissan compared to most, aim their lights higher than anyone in the US Market.
Good video boss
Nice review! Do the ambient lighting on the doors turn off when driving? Or can they be always on?
My Dream Car
Look beautiful then LS
Great review! Any chance you could do the refreshed 2022?
Car is 🔥
Look at that satin finish paint!
I'm waiting for the 2022 to come out, this car is awesome; Not LS awesome but still...
Chrome door handles would be perfect, great lookin wheels.
SHARP!! But for its time I'd take my 2014 ultra with parchment interior over this model all day long...love lexus.
تقرير خورافي وجميل.
أتمنى لك مزيد من النجاح
Awesome
got some 7watt led lamps that are bright as hell from amazon....got one under my hood and fixing to put one in the trunk. best 12$ i ever spent lol besides wiring costs
I want it !
I like luxury autos with massaging seats. I wish they all had them. And cup coolers and warmers. (Joking)
I wish they did too lol!
13:17 Actually the side mirror does dim automatically, there’s just no way to turn it off
The owners manual for the 2021 Lexus ES 250 and 350 state that auto dimming exterior mirrors are standard on this vehicle and are activated when you push the green light button on the interior auto dimming mirror is this vehicle that you test it doesn’t have it it could be a defect from the factory it also states when you put the car in reverse the mirrors tilt down automatically for better visibility do you remember seeing this in your review?
The rear indicators are LED not incandescent, you can tell by how quickly they turn on and off and they are generally brighter than incandescent too.
can you please do a review on the chevrolet trailblazer?! if you can specifically on the RS trim level. love your reviews and i’m interested in the RS. would like to hear your take on it
I might be able to get one down the road, I think the next Chevy will be from a dealer and a Silverado but if I can get one I will!
@@PrimeAutotainment that would be great! thank you!
Nice car
great night review. Lexus really needs to do a lot more in terms of ambient lighting for their interiors. Mercedes puts them to shame, and those little light strips are cheap and easy to put in
Mercedes overdoes it. You are inside a car, not a christmas tree
I think it wasn't so much a cheapout here as Lexus/Toyota's natural conservatism. I can almost picture the committee meeting debate between the ones who insisted they had to have the feature the Germans have, vs. the ones who insisted they would distract the driver. Typical Japanese compromise outcome: Include them but make them so dim you needn't have bothered.
I have a 2022 ES300H. And those thin lights on the dash and doors are a very special touch. It defines the breadth of the interior space. This car is such a pleasure to drive at night.
Your night reviews are the best thank you for showing us all of the exterior and interior lighting and the performance of the headlights at night not too many CZcams Car reviewers go into great detail all the exterior and interior lighting
Hi
I want to buy the 2023 ES300h Luxury one with a triple-beam LED headlight. Does the triple beam led to have the adaptive feature and turn light built into that?
Thank you!
I have a 2018 and have driven the 2021and 2022. For loaner when getting serviced. I actually love the 2018 better. Seems like it's more space. And takes 87 gas. The only model that takes 87. Wish I could get these lights for my model.
❤️❤️❤️
Definitely miss footwell lighting when I bought a Toyota after owning a Lexus first. I use the footwell lighting to tie my shoes all the time. Then I bought a Toyota. What the heck, no footwell lighting and no lights behind the lock buttons! Really annoying. Sometimes the small things matter.
Which one would be a better choice in terms of keeping it for the next 15-20 years?
Es350 or es300h?
I would probably say the 350. There are some Toyota and Lexus hybrids from a long time ago still out there running but I would guess the life expectancy is definitely better with the non hybrid model - primarily because if possible hybrid battery degradation or eventual failure. I would still expect the hybrid to last a long time but I’d go 350
Which has the more quiet and comfortable ride? This one or the 2023 C class?
Hi Nolan, looking hard at ES 300h right now, so this was a great night review. Greatly appreciate all your comments and information. I though the acceleration run you did up to 55 was pretty decent for a hybrid IMO - again this is not the sport package but I clocked you from 15mph to 55mph in 7 seconds flat so not bad for 44mpgs in a luxury car!!
I'm curious how much worse the standard headlights are vs. the led adaptive lights seems kingd of steep $1500 charge for that options but not sure if it's worth it. Can you review a normal ES car (hybrid or not) with the standard lights too? - Thanks!
This isn't the 300H, this is the regular 350.
@@WilC379 Right, but the headlights would be the same, just different power train.
Since this is the AWD, it is safe to assume that it is the ES 250 as they offer AWD only on the 250. So this definitely doesn't have the 44MPG you mentioned. The hybdin one does (ES 300H). But I get your point.
Personally I would recommend you to safe up the 1500€ since as you already know Lexus cars don't break up, don't need maintenance like many other cars and you can easily own one for 15-30 years or more if you do the basic maintenance required here and there so think of it this way. You are buying a new car, one of the newer models, you surely want to keep it for years and years right? In that case, the 1500€ is definitely worth saving as it will help you and be a great investment to you in the long run
Hey that’s my old middle school!
Is there a night review for the LS 500?
The ambient lighting is automatic then? More like it turns on at night ?
Does the ambient lighting turn off when you drive or is there option to turn on or off
If this was a plug in Hybrid like the Prius or Rav4 Prime with 50 miles of EV range I'd buy one today. I am too spoiled with my Volt getting 80 MPG combined. I know it's splitting hairs on fuel costs but I love having the ability to drive around town on EV only and gas for longer trips.
Woah woah, which one is that? The one that gets 80MPG? The ES 300H gets about 45MPG so hearing you say the hybrid one you have gets 80? Damm son, tell me the name of the car and the model itself 👀
I suppose when you filmed this you couldn't notice the instant on/off & immediate-blink behavior of that rear turn signal.... definitely LED.... all trim levels are LED tail light turn signal as of 2019.
Thanks for calling out no side rear mirror dimming. GS has both side mirrors dimming..😮
i literally had no idea the ES350 had ambient lighting
honestly didnt know lexus did ambient lighting in general
Yeah I think this is newish tech for them, the last few Lexus vehicles I got to see didn’t have this so it’s nice they are offering it!
Lexus ambient lighting is more melo than other Automakers are.
Theyve been doing it for about 15 years now, they just do it in a more subtle way.
My 2010 has ambient for the front foot wells and a small one in the overhead console that projects down towards the gear shift. Not bright but a nice touch when you enter the vehicle at night.
Is the double v triple beam that noticeable in terms of brightness?
I'm trying to adjust my left headlight as it is waay lower than it should be, but I don't want to adjust them manually but I couldn't find any way to do so.
The Camry has more hp than this 4 cyl. So why is the drivers headlight lower than the passenger?
Wow.👍
Круто чувак, мне понравилось:)
7:17 for 2021 the infotainment is touch enabled. Did you not try to touch the screen at all?
Yes I did actually and it’s not touch. The 2022 models are adding touch I believe, like the IS...but not this.
I’m trying to figure how to turn on the Lexus logo when you open the door. I remember when I first bought the car the Lexus logo would turn on but now it doesn’t. Can anyone help? I have 2023 IS 300.
How can I order just those headlights for my 2021 lexus is300?
Nice toy and beautiful color, but I will wait until we get the ones with cameras instead of side mirrors, entry with fingerprint, key pad, face recognition, or voice command to open the doors. I don't like the idea that thieves can steal the signal from the keyless entry and get into the automobile to steal my belongings or take the car.
I am thinking about leasing one but my heart is stuck to that new e-class, what do u suggest?
leasing the e class is a smarter choice tbh, if u want the lexus ur better off buying it bc they last u a long time
1 and 1 😊
The side mirrors ARE auto dimming just like the rear view mirror. I own an Ultra Luxury 2019 ES350
How do I set interior lights to turn on when I open door?
why does mine dont have the ambient lights i have 250 f sports AWD
Thanks for the review, great video. I’m in the market for a new Lexus and so far my 2 issues are Ambient Lighting and FWD. the Ambient lighting I could get around, but how is the FWD? Is it annoying? Is it hard to maneuver? Is it noticeable while driving?
Do the light strips on the doors and dash stay on during driving? It looks like they were off during the drive.
I am wondering the same thing. Someone please let us know!
looks like the ambiant light deseapered when you begin to drive?
yes it dims quite a bit once you shift out of park
How do you compare the ES against the Mazda 6 signature overall ?
Mazda 6? It's not in the same class. The Mazda 6 competes with Maxima, Camry, K5, Sonata etc. The ES is the far superior option, obviously being in luxury segment.
Wrong pal, the rear turn lights are LED, you can also adjust the HUD so it’s not crooked.
Looking for 2022 Lexus es300h Ultra Luxury night drive.
I guarantee nobody in the small town I am in can afford a car like this including me.
$50,000? Most new pickup trucks are more than $50,000.
Which town is that? Which country?
Ambient lighting customization is a let down in this car. My 2013 A6 has a similar set up.
Cornering lights must be in all cars more than DRL
How many colour options are there in ambient lighting?
None, go get a Hyundai if you want disco lights.
the people who call this car an enhanced Camry they just can't afford buying it
