  • Crooke Village, on the outskirts of Wigan in Lancashire, was originally a coal-mining depot on the Leeds-Liverpool Canal, but has now become a peaceful, picturesque, white-walled hamlet. Archive images from Wigan Archives Service help tell the history of Crooke, and the work of the Crooke Village Residents Association displays the community spirit that characterises the village today.
This short film is an excerpt from 'Our Story - Shevington and Lower Ground’ - a 90-minute subtitled DVD celebrating the history of the Shevington district of Wigan which is available to buy from Shevington Library or by contacting Tradition Films at info@traditionfilms.co.uk
