    Thank you so much for sharing this video! This helped me SO much. I saved $2500 by replacing the upper and lower control arms, ball joints, inner and outer tie rods, and sway bar links. There was a front end kit with most of those parts on RockAuto for around $550. It came with the lower ball joints installed. It took me a whole weekend to replace all the parts in the kit. Heating up the ball joint receptacles with a torch made their installation MUCH easier. Just have to be careful to keep the heat away from the actual ball joints.
    A word of warning to others: be VERY careful when installing grease fittings. Its easy to over tighten them and break them off. It costed me a ton of time and a new lower ball joint. Also, its easy to cross-thread them.

    Awesome video. I have the same factory pressed lower ball joints with the crown ring on top. Couldn't get it out but after seeing your video I realized what I was doing wrong. It has no rust or anything since I'm in California. Going to press it out tomorrow using your method. Thanks man

    The trailblazer has ether 14mm or 16mm tie rods.i upgraded mine to 16mm ac delco premium inner and outer tie rods. On the tie rod I used a 1 3/8 /64mm double sided wrench.

    Very informative on the inner tie rod Im thinking I need inners because I have wheel wobble when braking after driving for some time. The brakes are good I don't think I have warped rotors or pads cause I don't have wheel wobble till everything is hot. And also why didn't you remove the rotors when you removed the steering knuckle ?

    • @E4EonEbay
      @E4EonEbay  Před rokem

      I could have removed the rotors, but decided to just leave them, it would have made the knuckle a little lighter and easier to maneuver

    Did you have to remove the flange on the lower ball joint before pressing it out. Also, what snap ring pliers did you use. Mine from harbor freight wouldn’t spread the ring wide enough to put it on.

    • @E4EonEbay
      @E4EonEbay  Před 4 lety +1

      No, I just pressed it out, I would definitely showed if I removed the flange before pressing it out. The snap ring pliers were from Autozone, cheap set, came with a a couple different tips. Thanks for watching and commenting!

    You said 2 3/4 receiver cup? I had one that was slotted but it pushed one of the tabs off the control arm end. The large cup I had was just a little too big around to work like yours. What is the press kit that you have?

    Hi Good video, thanks. I have a 2003 Bravada (like a TB), 200,000 miles, need to replace the rack. Nothing major else wrong, but I am fairly certain the ball joints, both tie rods are worn. Have had the vehicle since 160,000 miles and I have never replaced them. And not sure about past service history. So guessing at least 80,000 miles or more on those parts.
    Whats your opinion of buying a full control arm vs just doing the ball joint? It costs more, but you the kits I am looking at have the ball joint installed. And while I can's say if the rubber bushings are bad so to speak, but with so many miles I'm thinking they have to be worrn. See eBay item number:352193084348. Thanks.
