    I just learned about the Fellow so your video is timely! I also learned about the Timemore 064s and 078S. What are your thoughts on those just from the specs posted?

      @homecafecharlie  Před rokem +1

      I would love to try the Timemore. So many grinders coming out I'm not sure where I'll put them all 😅

    I've watched several reviews of this grinder, remainjng puzzled. Thanks for being really clear about it, too help me know that it's not for me. -Toby

      Yep, it's super entry level if you're on a strict budget and don't mind if your coffee doesn't burst with flavour. It will do espresso, but it's definitely not the best one out there

    Great review. Thanks. I am just getting into purchasing an electric grinder, I can’t use a hand grinder. I primarily brew Aeropress. Would this grinder be a good option?

    Great review! Looks like I’ll keep looking for a grinder. Or just saving for the Niche. 😂

      Honestly I like the Niche's workflow, but there are much better grindwers available now for similar prices. My favourite by far is the DF83. Check out my video on it, for the price there's nothing like it, and the new V2 model (I'll be getting one soon) fixes all the major issues. That's the grinder to beat in 2023!

    Why didnt you use the micro steps to dial in betweeb the two coarse settings that encompass espresso grinds? Thats what its for. I watched this review explicitly to see how well that micro adjustment ring works and you just slammed it to "fine" and left it.
    Thanks

    • @homecafecharlie
      @homecafecharlie  Před rokem

      The so-called micro adjustment ring is actually a pain to work with. It changes by about 30 microns and the macro on the outside by 50. Not great for espresso. Emilee Bryant did a mod on her channel to make it stepless. 😉

    • @maxhunt2644
      @maxhunt2644 Před 6 měsíci

      But it DOES work as a smaller (micro) adjustment. I'm with timhorton8085. You put it all the way to the finest micro setting. I assume you left it there. That's putting you back to having just 41 macro adjustments. Sure, it's confusing but if you had taken some time and done a bit of maths, you could have demystified it for everyone. I'm not saying it's a GREAT grinder but for the price point of $195 (I'm writing this on Thanksgiving Day in America and the black Friday deal has it down to $150), it's a very good entry level budget grinder. The whole idea of lower and lower price points is to get more people into the "wonderful world of espresso". This grinds a good shot...no, it is not as good as a Niche or Eureka, etc., but good enough that most newbies won't be off put by the flavor...and if they are, they probably just don't care for espresso. That's the point of this little guy...which seemed to be something you didn't really think about. 🤔 You should have mentioned Emilee's video at the end of yours. I hope you bought this and Fellow didn't just comp one to you...

    Nice review! I had many of the same
    sentiments including my initial disappointment with the build quality when opening the box. I wanted to post about my concerns with it a month ago when I got one from Fellow, but had to keep my mouth shut till launch day! 😂

    Cut out the grind declumper and it retains a lot less

      I feel like the company that starts making good declumpers is going to win the espresso grinder game 🤣

    That’s funny for me 30 seconds was more than enough for 17g-18g

    • @homecafecharlie
      @homecafecharlie  Před rokem

      I'm using quite light roasts, but yeah on 3rd click it was 38 seconds. After the 4 or 5 seconds of the DF83 it feels like forever. I keep mentioning that grinder because it's just too good 🤣

      True, I should do a comparison of the Niche and something more in its price range.

    Cheap Chinese plastic: "trying to do something new". In other words try to immitate Italian industry.
    I suspect "broad distribution of fines" translates to inconsistent grind?

    • @homecafecharlie
      @homecafecharlie  Před rokem

      Yes a bit of a muddy flavour due to inconsistent grind size. Not as bad as some others but honestly I notice the difference so much between flat burrs and conical. Flat seems to just be better
