In screen printing context an emulsion is a light sensitive solution, and you don't use that if you aren't planning of using an acetate print to transfer the design, for lasers you use Liquid Masking Fluid or Latex or Acrylic paints, oil paint, anything that does not react with your ink. If you use emulsion, you need to cure it after drying.
Oh interesting I bet that is way cheaper and maybe less caustic too! Thank you for the info!

Doesn't the laser react to the photosensitive adhesive??
I don’t know if this is good to do or not, but I never use my broiler so when I made some screen printed tote bags, I put them in my broiler to cure them and it seemed to work. This was after they were completely air dried. Maybe it’s a bad idea. I don’t know, but it worked for me.

I Want That! I am a new viewer, I just came across your video and I am amazed at the competitive advantages of screen printing. I have been doing vinyl and ordering DTF transfers but have now started learning screen printing because I believe this is the most economical and beneficial way to achieve success in this business. I love how your content includes things that didn't go well at the beginning but you continued to work at it and got better. That is real. I want that!!!! Awesome idea for the clocks. Sometimes clocks are like cars, There's a butt for every seat, you just have to find the right one. Clocks are like that, you have to find the right person for that clock. I've not screen printed and have wondered how it works, nice explanation and the reuse of screens is awesome!

I WANT THAT! I've been doing heat press t-shirts for a year now, I started small & I LOVE and have fun with it. I have always wanted to get into screen printing, but as you said, it required a lot of stuff and space, and my small room doesn't have the space, just enough for me to do heat press. A week ago I happened to watch Laser Engraving 911 testing print on the Xtool which got me really excited! This is possible to fit in my room. But it's out of my budget as I also need to get a laser engraving machine. Anyway, just trying luck, and will work my way to level up and learn more skills. I don't think you need to be as careful as you were in regards of light. The emulsion's instruction tell you because professional screen printers need to expose them to UV light with a mask for the image to stay on. You burn off the mask with a laser, so you actually want it to cure before (as you did in the 2nd try). In fact it's a good idea to use an UV light (or the sun) to do so. Heath Sharp has a great video on "Reusing xTool Screen Printing Screens - Emulsioning an Xtool Screen".
That’s a great point I guess I was just worried it would start to cure while applying or make cleanup harder, but it seems pretty forgiving. Someone in the comments said we can skip the emulsion all together and use other masking materials also. I guess it would just come down to what can handle the inks and cleanup but still has its own remover spray like the IV sensitive resin like I used.
Never thought that you can just use your laser engraver to make the screen, so thanks. An advice for better and much cleaner results for the cutting process is to use a more powerfull air compressor with the laser engraver. It´s more noisy but worths it. Love the content. Keep creating. Cheers!
I believe it must be a stainless steel screen like these, I believe silk screens will burn right through.

My first thought was this goes against the video you just put out about the Chick-fil-A method, but I like how you integrated it with a laserable product.
I own a full service print shop in North Carolina and we now do Screenprinting. Not being a hater but this machine looks like the easy bake oven of screen printing. 😂 it looks like you could certainly make money with this machine but it has a lot of serious limitations.
If you use a Dehazer you can get rid of the ghost image when you clean the screen.
Careful! Screenprinting is a rabbit hole of buying new toys!
Yes that was definitely a consideration when I was pondering ideas with the screen printer. I definitely want to inspire and educate but at the same time I want to stay true to my beliefs in business.
Great tip about the dehazer there are so many things it’s hard to keep track of what they all do.

@@ChadsCustomCreations neighbors for sure! And thanks for checking out my channel. It is basically the journey of building my full service shop in a rural town. We have had a lot of fun doing it. I am hoping to hire a full time person eventually to handle just the screen printing side of the business. An employee suckered me into buying a manual press and all the ancillary equipment $7k total. I have since replaced the exposure unit, the conveyor dryer, the flashing unit, and bought automatic press. All of us went to a Screenprinting class with Texsource (they have classes in GA by the way) after we spectacularly failed trying to do it on our own. I would say you have a leg up on what we knew 18 months ago. I enjoy your channel!
I WANT THAT!!! I never realized the versatility of screenprinting. I have tried it in the past with just one screen and it just became too much in creating the screen. Instead of burning the screen, I used vinyl and added the paint to the negative space. This seems simpler.

I want that. Would be fantastic to get into screen printing, love your clocks and the sentiment really touched my heart. Being disabled I am always thinking about time and what I may need to give up in the future. Screen printers seem to be very friendly in terms of ability.
Victoria, time is our most precious commodity, I feel so lucky to have been able to get back majority of my time now to put it where I truly want.
I agree it is so important to focus on what is important to you.
This is really cool. But I would recommend you to please rinse the screen inside the tub or a designated sink. Artist have large basin sinks that are meant to get dirty. I suggest this due to you sounding like you would be doing this prolonged. I'm not sure of what exactly is in the inks. However, the amount that you would be dumping long term would affect your yard, possibly your ground water if you have a well, and it can affect the marine life if washes into nearby water sources over time. At least if your house is connected to the grid then the inks should get treated. Plus if someone were to report you, you could be fined especially if its a business. Of course you are open to disregard this concern, it's just a suggestion. Besides that awesome video and I didn't even know that this screen printing method or company existed.
That is a great point and I am shocked I didn't think of that especially since I am trying to grow some grass in the front yard for the kids. I will come up with some kind of catchment system so the water can be properly treated thank you for your insight!

I have seen some avocado of yours videos, I had thought on getting a creality falcon 2 as laser cutter starting point since I live in a flat/apartment, and there was once a few years back I though on getting one of those machines to print some custom t-shirts(mainly drift/car related/inspired) but I wasn't ready to open shop yet, since I don't have lots of income and machines are expensive and take space(that I also don't have much), then life happened and after my stroke episode last year(at 33yo) and my head changed, all I can think is to who wins that please use it to make a profit and give back in some other way later to someone.
I watch your videos from time to time and is always really entertaining to watch, thank you for that.

I want that. Love the break away effect on the clock, really makes it stand out. I've used some UV exposure wash out films before and it is a time consuming process. This looks a lot easier.
Thank you! Yes the UV exposure part is the main thing that kept me away from screen printing. I am so happy to have it in my toolbelt now can have a print production going in under 1 hour.

I want that! (Have never been able to say correctly after Bobby Duke - LOL) You do a lot of fun projects and we just heard about this screen printer yesterday for the first time! The wife and I both are contemplating to go with the XTool S1 40W. We were planning to start an Etsy store but we are seeing A LOT of issues with their lack of commitment to sellers and their use of unmitigated shop closures with little to no recourse. Well, we actually have an Etsy shop, but haven't populated it yet. Perhaps Shopify is a better option... Great vid!
Etsy is risky but they do bring you traffic with Shopify you gotta figure out how to bring your own customers to you.

I want that!!! I just purchased the S1..it isn't even here yet. I wanted to get the screen printing kit, but I was hurting too much from the S1 cost. I would love to make some shirts for the trail running club I'm in. Also...your comment on man's best friend and Norman....my dog beside me is very offended. haha

@@ChadsCustomCreations Shucks...saw the video too late then. With the S1 coming, the D1 is better for someone else. I am hoping to get the screen printer at some point. It looks really nice and I can see all sorts of uses of it. I know Laser Maps are a thing and you could do a screen print version using different screens for different colors.
