- In this video I will restore a chair that was bombed during WW2, in Tallinn.
This chair was made in Poland by the company "WOJCIECHÓW" which is well known in the history of the Polish furniture industry, as it was the first Polish factory of bent beech furniture. It was founded in 1872 by Count Wojciech Poletyłło on part of his land in Wojciechów, where he had excellent access to the raw material, as the area was rich in beech forests. The company developed very dynamically, hence already in 1875. opened its branch in Warsaw at ul. Gęsia (on the premises of the former soap factory), where the bent furniture elements were delivered and only here, on the spot, they were assembled/screwed together and sold further. In 1884 Count Poletyłło's company was transformed into the "Towarzystwo Akcyjne Fabryki Mebli Giętych Wojciechów". The recipients of products from Wojciechów were customers not only from the Kingdom of Poland, but also from Russia, Germany, France, Belgium, and the company itself had its stores and warehouses, among others in Warsaw (at ul. Miodowa 3 and ul. Ossoliński 6 and at Krakowskie Przedmieście 13 and Plac Grzybowski 1), Poznań, Odesa, Moscow, St. Petersburg and Kyiv. Furniture was also sent to the countries of North and South America. Unfortunately, in 1925 the factory collapsed and was taken over by Bank Gospodarstwa Krajowego. In 1927, it was further sold to a new private investor, who went bankrupt after five years. in 1929 furniture from the Auction Society of the Bent Furniture Factory "Wojciechów" was still presented at the famous General National Exhibition in Poznań, presenting the achievements of the reborn Polish State. It is officially assumed that the factory ceased its activity in 1933."

Title: I restored BOMBED CHAIR from WW2
#howto #howtorestore - Jak na to + styl
I'm from Poland. My grandfather had the whole set of those chairs. 12 chairs plus table.
Wooow, that's treasure
They are beautiful. Probably comfortable too.
If this chair could speak, it would say, thank you so much, I thought I was dead. Beautiful work.
This is all there is to say. ^^^

@judithcatlett8518
I just hope nobody was sitting on it at the time.😲😬😳
This channel not only is great for tips and discovering great methods for restoration but gives a sense of what it possible in restoring old furniture. I have been a woodworker for years but restoration is a different game. Watching these videos also gives people a lots more respect for old stuff that many would throw away.
This is yet another prime example why I love your videos. Paying attention to the tinyest details, flawless outcome. ❤
Not only are the chairs stunningly beautiful, like everything you do. But this time, they are wonderful symbols of healing and peace. This the world needs so badly right now. Thanks and respect from the USA❤️🤗🐝
And even more so now, since 10/7/23! 💔💔

Хотя у него на канале больше про изготовление мебели. czcams.com/video/GtsGXrAij9M/video.html
This actually left me in tears! Such meticulous work, indeed done with love. They look brand new, and yet have a rich, violent history to tell of war, survival, and then healing. THANK YOU!
😢boo hoo hoo 👎🏿
Healing!!! ❤
This was an emotional piece knowing it's back story. You really did it justice. I love watching your upholstery skills as well. This chair should be on display somewhere.
Yeah. Cool story of rescue Tallinn from fascists.
👍👍👍💯💯💯💥💥💥👏👏🤔😍
Google Translated from Russian: What we saw at the beginning of the video, and then at the end - this is heaven and earth! Incredibly complex painstaking work of the highest level is shown step by step, in detail. Here is the master class! At first glance, it was terrible to touch this chair - a dead, hopeless option, crippled by time and, it seemed, could not be restored - rubbish, dust, firewood for the stove. But you proved with your skill that such a "disabled war" can be reanimated and saved for posterity, and will live and delight for many more years. Bravo! Applause!!! Here is the result!
This was very emotional for me. I fought back tears throughout the whole journey of a war tattered chair, to a beautiful Phoenix rising from it's ashes. My father fought in WW2, and I've heard many stories from him. This is the first time I've seen anything from that time period brought back to a glorious life with your remarkable hands. Your skills are beyond amazing, and you are always a joy to watch as you work your magic. Bless you!!!
Ahti, love the vision you have to see the potential in these poor wrecked pieces. Some of my favorite scenes: cooking the wood with steam to rebend it and using the compressed air to blow the glue into the joints. I am also always impressed by your upholstery skills; nice touch re-using the seaweed stuffing. And, of course, a beautiful result (x2!), as always
79 years may seem like a lifetime, but when I think that I was born only 17 years after 1944 I realise that it was only yesterday. My father fought in that war and my grandfather fought in the Great War. I researched their unit and their pain and trials.
This was a labour of love and as usual a beautiful job. Thanks for being able to not only watch your artists hands draw the beauty and life back into this sad piece of historical significance, but also honour the innocent victims of that cruel war. My heart shed a tear and my eyes followed suit.
Ahti, when you first showed the chair, I wondered why it hadn't been binned. I would have never dreamed it could've been restored and look so beautiful. Goodness, they look wonderful. Thank you for preserving some history, thank you for sharing your gorgeous work. Thanks for bringing us along for the ride.
Exactly that is what I love and what makes this kind of work so absolutely satisfying: you have what seems to be a pile of crap and when you're finished there is nothing less than a precious shining beauty.
Greetings from Poland! Thank you for your amazing videos. I've always loved woodwork and since my profession is completely different, thanks to your videos I fulfill my little dream of working with wood. You are a man of great talent and the finished pieces of furniture are just stunning. Thank you!
I'm impressed that someone kept these chairs, in that condition, for nearly 80 years. Were they part of a historical display? However, I'm even more impressed that they still show the scars from their brutal history but are now vibrant and ready to live again. You really did a beautiful job with them.
Loved the background story associated with the chair, makes you look at it and the restoration in a fresh light. Also appreciated the informative narrative/explanations.
This is not a restoration... it's a resurrection! Amazing job as usual

Hard to believe that this is the same chair when the before and after pictures are compared. Wonderful job and your attention to small details is amazing. Hats off to you sir.
Just another video where you bring back furniture that others would regard as trash. I love your skills, especially with the wood repairs and the upholstery. You gave it another lease of life.
The chairs you restore always look so perfect, that I would almost be afraid to use them. I would be happy just looking at them. You never cease to amaze me!
The man who made them originaly must be very proud.
This is not restoration, this is art.
You got gold in your hands.
Bravo from France !
I was just a little over a month old when the chair was damaged. I love to watch your work.
Sometimes I have to shake my head in disbelief at the amazing work you do! Who would’ve thought that old bombed out, dried up chair would look that incredible. Your vision when it comes to your restorations is unbelievable.
Thank you for saving one (actually 2) pieces of history that would’ve just been lost to time. Just amazing!!
I just watched the competition videos for the chair restoration. I much prefer your approach of video making. Straight to the point, no talking, and absolute outstanding beautiful work. Thanks for the content!
Cheers to you for saving this chair! Maybe it’s just me, but I think retaining the signs of damage to the wood preserves the history of this chair. I see everyone else appreciates those particular repairs. And when it’s all said and done the chair is saved, and that’s what it’s all about.
I'm from Poland and it was very nice to see You restoring this piece ^_^
THANK YOU FOR BRINGING THIS LOVELY CHAIR BACK TO LIFE!!!💖💖💖💖💖
My third or fourth time watching this restoration. You are simply the best!
👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👏👏👏👏👏👏👏😍
Another beautiful restoration of twin chairs. Your skills are immense and your restorations show it.
79 years waiting patiently to be brought back to life with love and skill. i can't imagine what the people of Talinn went through, if only the chair could tell its secrets. a moving memorial to darker times and possibly the best restoration i have seen you do and btw all your restorations are amazing. If ever a pair of chairs needed love it was these two
This chair had been traumatized by the bombing and was waiting for someone to bring it back to life. Others would have given up…but you healed it on every level…you didn’t miss a detail…it’s beautiful.
Well done! I wouldn’t think that anyone would keep such a damaged chair for so long though I suppose that they were grateful.
Your love and respect for this chair shows. Beautiful work. Thank you for sharing.😊
This restoration touched my soul. You resurrected a piece of art and history from the destruction of war. Your work is a symbol of hope❤
Wow, stunning! You do such amazing work, reconnecting all these pieces of history to modern day. And of course, bringing us along for the ride to see all of your techniques. (^.^)
Thank you so much for posting!!!
Master Craftsman, you taken a chair from Poland, and, after going through the hell of WWII bomb raid in Poland, & surviving all these decades of disrepair 🥺😵💔 you've made it look regal again with paying attention to details and using the original materials when possible! This is a restoration you can be VERY pleased with having done! Doug👍
Magnificent as always! Another masterpiece saved from the fireplace. I can only hope and pray that no one was killed in that house that fateful day the chair was damaged. Thank you once again Ahti for your incredible work. God bless. Rev. D.

I"m always amazed at your end result, especially the upholstery. I love watching all your little tricks and techniques. People who find you to work on their furniture are extremely lucky.
Stunning restoration! You saved a piece of history. Thank you!!
Love that he doesn't throw away bad pieces. Just fixes it. Wonderful beautiful work
I too was choked up and tearing. My love for what you do is heart felt. When I was young and healthy I did what you do but not nearly as well. You are a good man with a heart that is seen and felt in the work you do. Thank you.
You never cease to amaze me. Genius!
This restoration is the perfect example of work done by a master craftsman. Unless you look closely you can hardly tell where the repairs are. Excellent work 👍👍👍 . Thank you for sharing. Take care of yourself 🇨🇦
I have read that Restauratorsleave a trace of the damaging in some part of the piece they worked at.
I wanted to say "damage", not "damaging".
I am so impressed that this is even possible. Wow. Happy chairs returned to life!
You took a piece of history and saved it from being firewood. Beautiful work.
I just love your work! No over restoration, no making things look new when they're not! Just simply making them beautiful and usable again. And so much care and attention to detail 🥰
I'm at awe with your work..
Watched it several times. Never gets old. Love your work...❤️
I cried when I saw what you did with those sad chairs! It’s a miracle. I’ve never seen anything like it. You are truly a great artist.

I never thought that I would feel sadness watching a restoration video. It
s a beautiful work!
When you say this was in the warehouse, do you mean it had not been sold when it was torn apart by war? It is beautiful what you've done to repair and restore it. If only we could all do that with our nations and be free of all war. ❤
So many repairs. They've actually been through a war and back...what a story they have. Great job!
It is a pleasure to watch you turn something worn and damaged into a useable object with care and patience. Beautiful work on this chair.
It is almost irrational how much pleasure I get from your videos. Thank you!
Thank you for the history.
Knew there was exciting project awaiting, and was becoming impatient 🙂
Blessings from South Africa.
😲😧🥰 Your restoration was breath-takingly beautiful! and TWO chairs!! Thank you so much for posting your work. I was mesmerized for half an hour! 💖
Again a wonderful restore video. Indeed... healing a horrible history. I am from the Netherlands, and I watched a lot of videos of restorers, but stil keep saying: You are the best! Thank you for uploading this.
You have given this chair a new life. If it could speak imagine the stories it could tell. Incredible job. You truly are a gifted, talented restoration master..
Ty for sharing
Superb. Love that you use original methods, they are going on to live their lives. Respect your work. I found myself humming music of that time.
❤ Absolutely stunning, anyone would be so proud to own a beautiful chair like that, love to watch you work a master craftsman
In my opinion, I think the most amazing thing is how you can replicate the look between two chairs. If there is only one, there’s nothing to compare it to or try to match, but when there’s two or more you need to have the stain match color, the shellac match shininess, etc. Amazing work as always!
Lovely, a job well done. They are a lovely pair. Together again in their former glory if not better. Thanks for your lovely professional work.
How did this piece manage to survive a bombing (barely) and make it to your talented hands, so many decades later? I think you are the time lord of furniture repair😄
I can't tired of watching your amazing videos. I gain pleasure to my eyes, relaxation and a lot of theoretical experience if I need to repair something myself.

Ahhh..... there's nothing like a good chair....so versatile!!!.....can be used as a night stand, a place to lay your clothes at the end of the day, an extra place to sit, put your books on it.....the possibilities are endless.....I can't wait to see how it turns out.....poor things been waiting for years for this moment....this is going to be good.....
