The old sounds are nostalgic, but some of them peak so hard you'd think they were recorded and mixed in the 40s.

There was a brief period of time when guns used to sound realistic (like you can hear on tv news or videos and IRL, they sound just like small or large explosions (which they essentially are) ). It was most noticeable when a low tier german halftrack 37mm AA was firing. It was somewhere after first half of 2022. Now gaijin is just changing sounds for the sake of it, to seem like they are "constantly improving" the game
I remember listening to I think Copsi (It was during a livestream by DEFYN showing off the devserver when the Viggen was released and it definitely wasn't him) going into a brief rant about how Gaijin keeps murdering the firing noise of the M61 Vulcan (As someone who has pretty much every US top tier jet, I can see where he was coming from).
The issue is mics peak irl a ton and the guns in game are designed to sound as if your right next to them in person rather than through a speaker via a recording

The memories of using the IS-2 and dueling Tiger II's at range to see who could hit the others turret cheek first and using that good reverse speed after each shot while Panthers and T-34-85's and T-44's fought for the caps. So simple yet I miss it so much (until I remember how broken OP aircraft bombs and rockets used to be).

Wow the main gun sounds were awesome
Should be showcasing the old 122 sound and that iconic "PING". that, and times before volumetric update takes me back to countless hours using IS-2 grinding soviet rushing to get T-10M which was the top tier back then
What I actually enjoyed most about the old sounds was, it was better suited for the "e-sports" ready path they wanted to go down. Every single gun sounded different, a 100mm from the russians sounded different to the 122 with the bell sound etc, which nowadays isn't the case so it's harder to tell what is around the area where you heard a shot.

i miss the (2017?) - august 2019 sounds where the sounds were based on caliber groups (eg "medium" sound for 75mm, etc"
The problem with Sound Guy is that he doesn't know when to leave stuff alone. MGs are improved, but main gun both interior and exterior was much better.
I remember when warthunder was only three years old..
it's in these moments that we realise just how much the whole process of sound design (capture, treatment and to give the final output) evolved so much! that's quite impressive

Along with the old 20mm hispano sounds the russian 122mm noise is just peak sound design if you ask me

Old guns audio used to sounds like old Call of Duty games, now they sounded like Squad.

They should give us the choice to select the old packs or the new ones or they could limit the old ones until mid tier (after 7.0 new sounds should be applied)

As someone who has played tanks since literally day one, i do not miss the German machine gun sound, god how much it peakes.
The "got it" "next target" and, "yes, a hit" are very nostalgic though

man this sounds so much better from scope view than what we have today, now every tank gun shooting from scope view sounds like a very bad door slam ...its pathetic and nowhere near realistic
Am i the only one who liked the old tiger sound more? The engine sounds like a tiger growling while the 88 sounds like its rawing
The biggest crime Gaijin ever comitted when changing the sounds, was when they changed the original autoloader sounds, to this quieter, new one, the older sounded so much baddass.

Tastes are there to differ. There is no shame to it and there is nothing wrong with it.
I just miss a lot of the old sound because to me they were good enough.
New sounds are better, but as an og player I like the old ones for the nostalgia
@@svenskbrod For me it's not directly nostalgia. I actually just like the old sounds and especially old sound coding better. i was able to detect shit much better. But there are many things that have changed that i like better the old way.
Back then when 105mm and recoilless 106mm had a rocket gun sound, it gave me fear when I heard a Leopard 1 was around a corner
