Thanks, Wave, love the breakdowns, especially with a song like Youth. Most people (including myself) get sucked in by the great melody, but then miss all the incredible detail and polish they put into the composition and execution. From the 5/10/21 Day of the Maid live stream.
I sometimes tell my hubby that it's not just timing changes, key changes or chord progression that can make a song unique, but it could be choice of one note - which bandmaid does so often. So I'm so happy whenever someone else mentions it, someone who can better articulate things in music terms for him.
@@lurkmerchant Same. As a non-musician I can hear a lot of cool stuff going on, but it helps me appreciate a song more when someone with theory or experience points out what the "stuff" is.

@@VladimirChupin They have plans for Europe and Asia as well. IMO it is merely a matter of it being as safe as it is ever going to be here. If somewhere else had been considered safer or more open l am absolutely sure that is where they would play first. They will certainly be coming your way sometime after the tour here is completed. Band-Maid might have a formula, but so do all my favourite films. They follow the three-act structure. It's what they put into that structure that makes them great films, and it's the same with Band-Maid. No one fills a song with as much awesome music as Band-Maid.
A scientist has a formula too, so does a baby. But i bet they're both rubbish at being awesome playing instruments. I could be wrong but remember, i'm never wrong.😏

Wave, you're experiencing the symptom where Band-Maid songs rewire your brain so that all songs sound new no matter how many times you listen to them.
Well... After all, even the Maids themselves can't remember the name of their own song. You can see it happening all the time in their commentary to the ACOUSTIC OKYUJI. "Damn, what song is this?" 😂

8:30 harkens back to her iommi-to-petrucci switcheroo in 'look at me'.
This is not a criticism, but one of the reasons we love WAVE POTTER!... You can measure Wave's excitement level by the number of pauses he makes. This is way up there. I think he did let it play through for at least 4 seconds before one of the pauses. Oh yeah, but that was after he watched that part four times! Old Mr. B, just sitting up there thinking "Wave, Dude, just let them play!" Has to be one of your best reactions for all of the above reasons! You're like YOYOKA, you get better with every reaction!

This monsta of a song is a hidden song. These girls give off an overabundance of creativity. And Kanami continues composing day by day without a rest....
Not something I hear mentioned much about this band, but you touched on it, is how they end songs. There is a fine art to ending a song and most bands are not great at it. This is why we get a ton of fade outs and weird stuff. Not this band though. They have no problem ending a song. Only band I have ever come across where I have heard a song end I did not like. Small and oft overlooked part of composition which they could use them to teach a class on.

Time for Wave to make that spreadsheet he has been putting off for those bands where people will keep requesting them. Will then be easier to put some lists on Patreon or his website of whether It’s from reactions or live streams.

Great job sir! When does BandMaid not ever let you know they mean business right away!? In answer to you question about how does AKANE have the energy to make it through this album? That's easy! 5 bowls of Ramen and 70 plates of sushi with 5 bananas for desert! -OR- No wonder she eats all that after she finishes because she is so exhausted. The real question is: Do they feed the Gorilla before or after the concert!

Before, after, and during one as well. If you watch, for example, those fancams from Melkweg/Amsterdam, you'd see that she was putting some things into her mouth, which looked like cookies to me, and losing her sticks as a result.

It's a false dichotomy. "Son, who do you love more, your father or your mother?" "What is more important for you, your job or your family?" "What is more important, air or water?" And other wrong juxtapositions like that. In all such cases, both things are important. Why would anyone need to choose between his favourite musician and his wife?
But I see what you are driving at. Thankfully, my wife does not perceive these five amazing Japanese girls as a threat to my love for her. They are probably like anime characters for her. And I must confess, in my mind, the Maids are also pretty much like anime characters... I imagine how Wave was shocked when YOYOKA walked into his garage. He probably told her, "But I thought you are a fictitious person, a character from the movies I've watched!"

Wait a minute! How come I don't see this song in the Unseen World album??! What extra special edition? ..... HEY!! 🤨
The limited edition of Unseen World has a different tracklist.
It is split into 2 CD's instead of 1 and comes with a DVD/Blu-ray of instrumental videos. It's more of a concept as the first CD is called 原点回帰盤 (roots) with the songs that resemble their older music more and the second CD 現点進化盤 (progress) which are more their newer style of songs. Manners is on both CD's. Youth is on the Roots CD and without holding back is not available on that release. It made me buy 2 different versions of Unseen World, which I usually never do, because I really like without holding back and I had already ordered the limited edition before I knew there were tracklisting differences.
You can see the differences relatively easily on the wikipediapage of the Unseen World release.
I actually prefer listening to the regular release because Manners is on both of the CD's of the limited edition, which I understand from a concept standpoint but it's a bit weird to listen to it 2 times in close succession even though it is one of my favourite Band-Maid songs. I also like without holding back more than Youth.
Their new score book BAND-MAID Official Score for Unseen World also doesn't include Youth as it follows the regular release for the score and for the extra instrumental CD.
It might actually be more difficult to legally listen to Youth than most of their B-sides even though it was not a B-side as I assume that all digital music websites have the regular release.

@@RahimRahmat No worries, I honestly think it's quite a complicated setup they had with this release. I actually had to look it up again because I was a bit hazy on the details even though I have looked it up plenty of times.
@@MaartenT Somebody at Reddit created a colourful table picturing the three different editions of Unseen World. I've had it as my wallpaper for probably half a year before I memorized it.
I actually created a playlist in my foobar2000 following the De Lux edition. Yes, with Manners being there twice. If it's a concept, I have to listen to it as a concept album, as the Maids have intended it to be.
Although, to be honest, I don't understand how they categorize these songs into "Roots" and "Progress" parts. For the life of me, I would never be able to guess it just from the musical point of view.

Isn't this the song that Miku is singing the vocals?
I am relatively sure that I hear Saiki's vocals. Miku's only Unseen World solo vocal track is サヨナキドリ (Sayonakidori) as far as I know.
But my copy is under a huge pile of other CD's, so I can't easily check if there are credits per track on the release.
No. That's Sayonakidori. Youth's lead vocals are by Saiki.
This is the kind of vocal melody that usually Miku sings for sure, but because the instrumentation of this song is so crazy I think it needs Saiki to beef up the vocal part as well. Sounds so good.

Wave, in my opinion, no one is talking about hidden factors in this group that I consider extremely important. BAND MAID is a band of 6 members, 5 + audience, who create a sonic language at the service of their work. They do what must be done at all times without forgetting that the public is the sixth member of the band. BAND MAID are 6 and the audience is a key brick of the wall of success they build in every song. That is their amazing generosity with the crowd that filling their veins with blood as all together are organic body full of life. They deliver life to be rewarded with life. It is an organic bucle.
