Oh, also we have a Twitch now, come hang! www.twitch.tv/kydeanderic
But Tom Scott is not Kyde & Eric... ☺
Is that Tom Scott that sings Today?
You feeling better Eric?
Who's that? 😂
Different. Not better
I love the fact that there was a skateboard park right on top of this. Hope you guys are feeling better.
Mines of Moria. I was waiting for goblins to start crawling down from the pillars and Eric and Kyde to draw their broadswords and make a last stand all while continuing to film and talk us through what's going on. Glad that didn't happen.
haha
As another person said, very Mines of Moria like. That noise overhead was actually a fool of a Took pushing a chained skeleton down a well. I can see Eric fighting a Balrog to save Kyde "run, you fool!" Get better you two, chicken soup and OJ.
This gigantic water draining system is very needed because essentially much of Tokyo is built essentially on a gigantic river delta. And it proved its worth during several bouts of heavy rain and typhoons in the summer of 2020.
I’ve also heard large cities like New York sink into the ground a little from all the weight. So I imagine the same would happen to Tokyo.
Ah yes. I've played this level of Mirrors Edge before.
This is an incredibly feat. They need to do this in many parts of the U.S where flooding is common
great editing on this, what an incredible place!
Thanks! -E
6:00 Looks like the great hall of Moria. Watch out the Balrog!
What an adventure to just get there, even! Very impressive Godzilla jail. (I bet that's what it's REALLY for but they aren't allowed to tell us)
haha
All the nerds are already pointing it out but total lord of the rings Mines of Moria. You guys are great.
Get feeling better both of you 2
one of the places I want to visit. Thanks for sharing your experience!
That was fun. Pretty cool bit of engineering too.
I'm liking the music you have added. It works well and flows nicely...more please.
Need to make more! -E
Hey guys sorry I haven’t been commenting on the videos for a while. Keep watching on the tv and forget to come back and comment. I never get enough of your videos and keep forgetting to tell you how much I love the music intro to the scenes. Wanted to ask you more about what you playing?
Thanks again for a the fun videos!
Do you mean what instruments? I'm playing all of it, but the drums are programmed, basically. -E
Yes I was gonna ask if that’s music you made because I’m really digging it. Notice more of them sweet vibes as I comb thru all your old videos.
Love that synthesisic vibe with a nice drum beat!
This is super cool! i love that you guys find things that are off the beaten path to see and explore.
This is amazing and he scale is mildly terrifying. I hope they do regular inspections (pretty sure they do), but it is kind of mind-blowing at the amount of water of those 200-year floods.
It's amazing that there must be so many different systems in place around the world keeping people safe and making life easier to live that are completely hidden.
Incredible! Very glad Tokyo (and yall) are protected by this system! Vverrryy mines of moria!
This is now firmly on my bucket list. Thanks!
I saw another video of this a while back. Cool to see other perspectives of it though. Hope you guys are feeling well!
Great editing Eric. Thank you Kyde and Eric for taking us down there!
*G-Cans !!!* i knew right away from the title & the thumbnail
out of all your videos, this one has me the most jealous.
been on my bucket list for over *10 years* , but never found the time :(
this has to be the coolest place when there's a apocalyptic event
Thanks for the video, hope you guys are feeling better.
Comment for the countbot, really interesting, I love large industrial empty building, very cathedral-like.
Amazing! i had no idea this existed! Thanks for sharing!
This was a great video, music and speed up at beginning was great. Cool 😎 pic through out. Great job. U guys are getting really good 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟
One of those infrastructure things that if it works right, you'll never know it's there or how important it is.
This is such an incredible engineering work that probably has helped millions of people in some way. Glad you got to see it and show us.
Really cool.
Enjoy your weekend!
What an amazing tour of these silos and channels
OH Biwa....cant wait.
Thinking of you both 🤞🤘🙏😁
Get well soon.
Very interesting! Great explanations too, thanks!
Interesting. Thank you.
Thanks for this little treat before the weekend!
PS, I hope you guys are feeling better already.
Amazing temple of the flood.
Wow that place is epic 👍
As I said, a video for techie nerds! We want more!
I think i learned about this place from some NHK show. Knowing how far out in the inaka it is i probably would have never visited it myself. Thanks for sharing this experience!
Glad you enjoyed it!
@@kydeanderic really did!
That massive hall with the pillars just has me thinking there's gonna be some mutant cult worshiping a doomsday bomb at one end :P
Great video guys, hope ya both feeling better!
How awesome! So happy you guys did a video about this place!
I've watched something about this place before, its crazy how much water it can hold!
Very cool
Very interesting, thanks.
11:20: Love that cute cat.
I really like that montage/editing you did with music for the bus and train parts, it reminded me of your older video intros.
Looks quite impressive 👀! Thanks for showing us this part of Tokyo 🙏👍😊.
Astonishing. Certainly puts the Thames Barrier in it's place.
@@curiousnomadic High tides which would cause ...
@@curiousnomadic Sure but they're both projects designed to prevent flooding.
@@curiousnomadic And the plane displaced the train ... along with the car.
Impressive structure, have a good weekend both of you.
Lol this seems very cool. I had me some steamed shrimp and crab with this video so yay for the water theme
Excellent video
Very cool!
We have a similar system here in São Paulo, Brazil.
But not that complex, they just store the the water from overflowing rivers.
We called them “piscinões”(big pools).
70s Sci-fi cathedral. Damn fine looking place. Thanks 😸
wow, what an adventure! totally new perspective to tokyo.
The size and scale of those tunnels is just crazy! I would love to have seen the size of the pumps that are needed to pump all that water away into the river. They must be huge!
I just got my first covid shot yesterday and I’m feeling horrible with aches and severe fatigue but for some reason your video made me temporarily feel 100% better. I think I’m going to go on a binge through your channel haha
Like the Ruins of Karnak. Simply Amazing! Thanks for sharing!
What an amazing piece of infrastructure! And as always, a well presented video.
Never knew any of this. Great educational video. Crazy to think they looked so far ahead in creating this knowing they might not ever benefit from it in there lifetime.
Hey, guys! I thought that columns reminded me of Battlestar Galactica. Very cool.
great video, get better you two
you guys are awesome!!!!!!!
What an interesting project. I love to see some of these "secret" places around the world. Well done.
Japanese are fantastic engineers! Amazing!
Love to see the thing fill up... Maybe it should get its own live twitch feed !!
Very interesting video! Thank you
Good stuff...! New editing style and camera are a positive change, keep up the nice work!
Amazing Japanese engineering. I’ve always wanted to go check out this tour just haven t gotten around to it. Thanks for taking us. Thx from Kauai.
Really neat to see! Hope you both feel much better soon.
@@curiousnomadic their Instagram mentioned they are sick & getting a bit better.
very interesting!
Wow, what a feat of engineering. Did they say how much it cost to build it?
I think they said $2.6 billion usd.
That's a megastructure for sure! Nice harness system
that place is an engineering marvel, it is so cool
love this kinda stuff! Hope you are feeling better now.
thanks Kyde and Eric
Seriously that’s a cool AF video idea! Those underground spaces are really awesome!!!
Also, I hope you guys are feeling better... I’m watching this the day after you posted about being really sick 🙁
great coverage , always wanted to see how the inside really looked like . i remember seeing this place use as reference in anime / manga
Watching this while I have you guys in mind. PS, Eric I'm digging the 19th century English sleeping cap you're sporting on Twitter. Those caps are awesome. 🤘
haha its just a hoodie
G Can stands for jerry can used in ww2. Which means extra supply, at least that’s what I’m thinking 🤔
hope you guys get well soon.
Japan is just doing things so right! Such a smart system that is helping so many I’m sure. Thanks for the video!
Thank you, that was really interesting, Those cracks do look a bit worrying though.
Great video. I'd really like to go there someday. Hope you two are feeling better and getting well.
An interesting video. I was wondering if there could have been a shot of Eric walking away from the camera, just to show the size of the place. Also hope you are both feeling better.
Wow, what a huge system that appears to be. I would bet those who benefit from it are glad it exists. Sadly I dont think any major cities in Aus have such an extensive system. It was fascinating. Hope you two had fun!😀
This is a massive complex! I wonder how much concrete was used as compared with the Hoover Dam (the leader as far as I know)?
Hello from Maine!
Great video
It's huge!
Love the videos! Please keep them coming, get better you two
Hey! Hope you guys are feeling better!
Trivia: Do you know that the Mines of Moria scene in The Lord of the Rings was shot here? ...... or maybe not?
i think it was filmed in Middle-earth
Subterranean infrastructure is the most interesting infrastructure. It's super cool that place is open to the public!
Fascinating to see the inner workings of a large city. Perhaps check out the classic film The Third Man for another excellent underground sewage system.
e-shep spotted, anyway it's really impressive what we are able to build nowdays, that thing is massive
