    They have to be cooled otherwise will produce less if they are verry hot. I have two gmi 700w with cooler on top and holes on bottom to flow the air and extract the heat and they have 33-35 degree celsius on full load on a super hot summer day. And verry important when you buy it,first desassemby and remove the peels betwen aluminium case and mosfets.

      @@TheCrazyRomanian Last summer bought 3x GMI-700 and all had that blue tape. Mine inverters are attached to 595W panels, so definitely needed additional cooling. But I went with passive cooling: attached old CPU heatsinks to front and bottom. Still work after 1 year.

      How to install coolers on them?

  • @vk2wgw
    @vk2wgw Před 7 měsíci

    I idea of the Micro is to mount them under the panels and running a long AC cable back to your outlet. Running a long DC cable you will have huge DC voltage drop to the inverter. Running a long AC cable you won't get any voltage lose.

      They can't handle the 150f temperatures in the summer outside

    Which app you used with those micro inverters to watch the produced charts? The ones you show in 00:37 sec?

    I've watched this dozens of times. I also saw your video on Grid Tie Limiter. By using this system are you subsidizing the line for use in the house or is this system pushing back into the grid? I'm in Texas and we don't have net metering and I'd like a 500 Watt system because that is the base line of what my house uses at any given time. Thanks for your response.

    Hi, maybe I have a related question: for a 455Wp solarpanel & GMI500 inverter (same family as video one), do you actually need an 16A fuse?

  • @benkanobe7500
    @benkanobe7500 Před 7 měsíci

    I am doing something very simple like this (inspired by your videos!). AC 120@60Hz Coming out from the inverter has just two wires or three? I understand that one will be "hot" and one will be "ground" but is a neutral wire coming from the inverter as well and if so what do I do with it (or do I have the neutral and ground reversed in my head)?

    I need to know the AC Cable connector size? M25, M20, or M11 ? My inverter (same as yours) did not come with an AC Cable tie connector. I've searched the interwebs and just cannot find out what size that M connector is.

    Does this have any type off anti islanding function or power limiting? Here in ca they get pretty upset when you back feed the power and electrocute one of their line men working on the lines also if you produce more power and back feed the line they also get mad unless you have permits and all that good stuff. So basically if you want to sneak a grid tie then you need to make sure you never feed any power back through the meeter.

    • @sigun0
      @sigun0 Před rokem

      They stop supplying AC to grid immediately, when there are no AC on the grid. But they don't have any means to suppress backfeeding to the grid, so you need to have energy meter installed by your power company, that is capable of 2 directional metering or you will be charged not only for imported electricity from the grid, but also for exported to the grid.
