Love this. Chipping away at a video is definitely the trick. Even just making a short reel for Insta, I find that it's one thing to shoot it, and then another thing all together to edit it. I might only have a spare hour on a weekend to shoot it and then I've got to wait until the following weekend to edit it. It can be quite aggravating, really, but I'm trying to stay cool about it. Family comes first!
Absolutely, and thank you! 🙌
im 44, been on CZcams since it first started 2005-06. Created my first video on 2006. I have 2 monetized CZcams channel, both are a passion of mine so I have no problem creating new contents. Just started this channel about my life as a lonely, single, living alone guy CZcams channel cause it seems like there are only a few that is on my situation. im creating new ways to make videos with my new channel cause the CZcams ways is changing rapidly as we know it, there are a new breed of CZcamsrs that are no editing, raw videos, simplicity set up and more personal. I first seen this phenomenon years ago and it's finally taking off now. Its great time to make a channel right now don't matter how old you are, its all about the experience that bring to the table.
Started my channel age 50 a few months ago. Def a learning curve and speaking to the camera in public is gonna take awhile to get comfortable with 😅 We got this!
I've started .. and im 61 .. I believe I've as much chance of success for my channel as any young person .. because belief is everything .. ive lots to learn so thank you for your channel and your wisdom x
You definitely have a great chance for success - keep at it! And thank you for the kind words. 🙌
@@BrandonBautista you're most welcome .. look forward to watching more of your videos 🙂
Great video. Me and my wife started our CZcams channel a few years ago and are now transitioning into a new type of travel content. I agree it is hard to find the time with a full time job and family life, but you're doing great!
55 year old new youtuber here ....creating travel videos on past travels, tips ,and future travel plans dreams and aspirations
That first point is exactly what I've been focusing on the past 2 weeks. I've had this channel since 2009, and just now really trying to dial in who I want to make content for, other than myself of course :)
Your story sounds pretty close to mine... decades of experimentation with a recent narrowing of focus. You're doing amazing stuff! I am also a 40+ year old failed no budget filmmaker! (Honestly, I think you're doing it WAY better than I am!)
@@BrandonBautista Well that means alot! Thanks a lot for this, for taking the time to check my stuff out as well. Old guys unite!
We gotta stick together to prevent the younger generations from weeding us out! 😂
@@BrandonBautista 100%! 😂
Let's do this my middle aged brother😅😂❤
I am an over 40 new CZcamsr and trying to figure out this CZcams thing hahaha. Speaking in public is definitely the one thing I struggle with the most! I feel like if I can ever get past that fear then I would be well on my way! Enjoyed the video and a new subscriber. Look forward to watching more of your content!
I'm not over 40 but I'm so glad that you didn't delete tons of your earlier videos! It makes me so optimistic and motivates me to be a ton more disciplined in making CZcams videos! 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻 Bravo for not giving up!
I saw Titanic in the theaters at least three times 😂
I snuck into the theatre to see it for one specific scene!
I’m nearer 60 then 40 but really interested in vlogging. Thank you for the encouragement. Now to find a niche topic to rock CZcams!😂
I just turned 40 and am a newtuber so I guess this channel applies to me 😅 But seriously 1) yup 2) yup and 3) yup. Thanks for the tips 👍🏻 new subscriber here
Subbed...Still working on my channel... Developing original content versus much of my work on remastering vintage concerts. I gained watch hours and subscribers at a decent clip by working on these concerts...Unfortunately, when it came time to monetize, CZcams decided that my contributions to upgrading the audio didn't outweigh the "Reuse" and they declined me twice now. Sadly (IMHO) if you make a reaction video it's fine...actually upgrading and making it more enjoyable is not. Pretty frustrating to have to wait 3 months at a time to go back and try again with absolutely no one to contact and discuss.. Hoping my frustration doesn't stop me before they see the light. Enjoyed your video. Thank you!
Ugh, that’s frustrating. Especially when you see so many monetized channels who aren’t adding any value to their reused content. Sorry to hear that, but hope you keep at it!
Good call on finding little chunks of time. That’s all I’ve got
Your channel just popped up my feed while I was researching the pocket 3. Yup I'm over 40 and trying to stay my CZcams Channel for over 15 years lol
Stick with it! I’ve gained more subscribers in the past two months than the previous 17 years 😂
@@BrandonBautista your content is really good. I wouldn't worry about who's looking at you.
@racemode Thank you - much appreciated 🙌
I’m 39 and this helps a lot!
Nice work, man. I definitely appreciated this and was taking some mental notes.
Thanks, my friend!
Good advice, thank you ☺️
I relate to so much of what you're saying.
thanks mate. You gave me courage to restart this journey.
That is the best feedback I could ever hope to receive. Thank you so much!
I really appreciate your insights, I’m 37 and I have a lot of similar opinions as you. Subbed.
I'm level 33 watching this. Best knock it out early ;)
Very wise! 😂
I’m not quite 40 but I’m 35 and this year I decided to take my content seriously. This really inspired me, man. Keep going in this direction!
Thank you for that kind feedback, and good luck - can’t wait to see what you create!
Same, I’m37 and I decided to finally double down on CZcams and my creative life.
I’m 43 and I’m switching my style and my community is killing me for it. I understand I went from food vlogs (mindless entertainment) to wanting to share my journey on mental health and manifestation( a deeper calling birthed from COVID) but damn….of you don’t like the new content just move along. They’re so toxic
@@PhoYourEyesOnly - Sorry to hear about the toxicity during your switch. Wishing you much success with the new direction! 🙌
Hi Brandon, Thank you for the advice. My children warn me not to open my mouth about my a youtube channel when we go out to our relatives and friends, They must be thinking people will laugh and make a joke of a 51 year old lady is a youtuber lol but I do end up mentioning to go and watch our cats on youtube and I always encourage people young or old to share their passion so others can benefit and may be earn some money in the sideline too.
Yeah, me too! I'm always encouraging my talented friends and family to create channels and pursue their passions, which is why I've been creating these videos... to practice what I preach. 😂
Is there a 40+ group for CZcamsrs? Asking for a friend. That friend is me. I am my own friend.
😂 I haven’t been able to find a CZcams community for people our age, unfortunately.
That would be nice. Should we create it? Lol
@@flourishwithflowers_ ooo let's do it!
Another good video
Not sure why the algorithm recommended this video to me. I'm only 57. Good advice!
😂 Thank you!
One thing that seems to be an impediment to me is the editing process. As I learn Final Cut Pro this issues diminishes, but it's a real learning curve. The other time suck is just the amount of time I spend watching videos about how to make videos. ;-) I am hoping all of this will hit a critical mass at some point where after taking the videos I can quickly bang out some finished products and get them uploaded.
What does your workflow look like?
I'll try to make a video about this, but my current workflow after I have an idea is: figure out the main message for my video, script it out to make sure I cover everything I want to cover, film it on the Osmo Pocket 3, edit it in Adobe Premiere Pro, create the thumbnail in Canva. You might want to check out Descript, as it allows you to edit video by text, similar to how you'd edit a Google Doc.
Watching videos about how to make videos sounds a lot like me. 😂
Honestly, I don’t think it has anything to do with your age. It’s the humor you brought on a hot topic right now. The pocket 3. Pocket is heavily searched and you found an interesting way to present it while referencing yourself in a funny way.
That’s great feedback - thank you!
@@BrandonBautista if you turned your filming in public into a series, pure gold 😂.
March is colon cancer awareness month! 45 is the new screening age!
Yes, indeed... get checked, folks!
No need to sound that excited!
@@thestupendouschumley I'm really just trying to amp myself up to get it done. An item that regrettably remains on my to do list.
Hey Brandon, I’m just curious- what type of microphone are you using in this video?
Hey! It’s the DJI Mic 2 that comes with the DJI Osmo Pocket 3, the camera I used for this video.
What’s your mic set up? Your voice sounds great.
It’s the DJI wireless mic that came with my camera (DJI Osmo Pocket 3).
@@BrandonBautista oh that’s great. I thought it looked familiar. I have the pocket 2…and the same mic. I couldn’t get the 3 in time for my last trip sadly. So bbthis is shot on the pocket 3 or you use it with other cameras too?
@@Lisa_LaCroix Yeah, this video was 100% shot on the Pocket 3!
do you outline or script your video?
I write an outline of the main points I want to cover, then film it one segment at a time. But I usually rephrase everything as I’m filming so it feels more natural and conversational. It takes me a while; I mess up a lot!
@@BrandonBautista thanks that is good to know :) Im still having hard time talking to the camera and making it feel natural.
@@ailearners Keep at it! Sometimes I’ll repeat a part over and over until it sounds more natural. Takes me quite a few times to feel like I got it right. I’ve tried reading off a teleprompter before and it looked awful!
@@BrandonBautista yeah that's something i can't do at all. it feel so unnatural but anytime i look on youtube they keep suggesting reading of a teleprompter. maybe its a skill I'm not used to. but ill try to just to bullet points. i just need more practice.
40 is middle age now ?!
Always has been. 40-60 is the definition. Hah.
I been watching you for years, how you still under 1k??? Can you please sell your soul, join the Illuminati, or start dating someone at youtube 😂, we need you at 1 mil!!!!! ❤
😂😂😂
I have a feeling his channel is currently gaining momentum and will suddenly shoot up within the next 3 months. Let's see if I'm right. I've just subscribed anyway. 🎉😊
No disrespect but making this sort of video with less than 1k subscribers make no sense.
I definitely understand that perspective. My thought was, I’m starting to see some growth and it wasn’t until after I got past these three things I talk about here, so I wanted to share that with others who are just starting out in case it’s helpful. ✌️
No disrespect, but most comments that begin with the words “no disrespect” are dripping with disrespect.
@@e.christopherclark7367With all due respect, I respect this take. Not hating, but, great work. 👌
No disrespect, but he didn't say "do these things and you can be a star just like me". He said this the research he's done, this is what he's learned, he's applying it, and he's seeing far more promising results than he's had in the past.
