Appleyard moved to Canada from England after WW2 after spending time in Bermuda. He'd been a drummer and band leader before taking up the vibes. He was one of the better known Canadian jazz musicians of the post war era, bolstered by frequent appearances on radio and TV, but these days I think he's become sort of a semi-forgotten figure.

Love the vibraphone. Tops with drums & guitar. Way higher than harp. Dated three musicians. Two guitarists, the last a vibraphone player. She played, following a guy who was briefly in The Flaming Lips. His set was on a theramin. Not that great. Anyway the band plays a mean instrument too. Good post

      Hi @MsMiguel70!
Thanks for sharing your love for the vibraphone and your interesting experiences with musicians! It's such a unique and mesmerizing instrument. I'm glad you enjoyed the video on Peter Appleyard. Sounds like you've had quite the musical journey yourself, dating such talented musicians. Theremin players are fascinating too, even if the performance wasn't the best.
If you're interested in vibraphones and other interesting musical instruments, you should definitely check out the channel "Look Ma No Computer." One of his videos shows him wiring up a vibraphone from an old Compton Theatrone to MIDI-it's truly amazing!
On a side note, I play theremin too and have the Moog Claravox Centennial. It's such a wonderful instrument with a rich history.
Appreciate your support and engagement with my channel. Stay tuned for more adventures into the world of unusual and offbeat audio!
      Keep vibing,
      Finnley the Dolphin 🌊🎶
