I don't think a single army out there is embarrassing. The fact that someone decided to put their lives up to protect their nation on a daily basis says a lot and shouldn't be disrespected like this.

This should have been titled, "The World's Smallest Armies". To have used the term "Embarrassing", is not fair or very nice. Regardless of the reasons, brave men and women have still signed on the line to protect their respective countries.
That is to be applauded and respected...not to be made fun of. 🇨🇦

I find it really interesting that the Luxembourg Army made your list. I was in the 92nd and 529th MP Companies in the 80's. The 529th was in Grafenwöhr, which is really close to the Czech border. You actually show the cross pistols and 529th banner during the Luxemboug part. When at the 92nd in Baumholder we trained with the Gendarme and other Luxembourg soldiers. They were serious professionals and hardcore soldiers. I went to French Commando school and as a Private First Class I took 3rd place in my 4 week course. 2nd place was a female Gendarme from Luxembourg. First place was a 45 year old pilot from Switzerland. I am still not sure I would want to fight either one of them. He'd have to be in his 80's now. I'm not sure I could take him. As for her, I am sure she would still kick my butt.

First off the Vatican does not have an army. The Vatican has Swiss mercenaries. I can't remember the name of the tradie it was about 4 or 500 years ago maybe a little less, but the Swiss are not allowed to deploy troops beyond their own borders except the Vatican. They are not mercenaries in the true sense but they are in technical terms. As for their armor and other equipment was designed by Michelangelo except the traditional haldeberd. Maybe that's the name you should look up referring to the author of this video. When they are not dressed in their ceremonial clothes they have full urban battle gear.

If we're being honest here, no military is "embarrassing" to call a military embarrasing based off of what you see on the news or based off of the policies of the country or even based on how outdated their tech may seem is just plain "embarrassing." The only thing to be ashamed of here that I see is comparing the militaries of third-world countries to that of the nation with some of the best tech available, with amazing research teams that make new innovations in military tech at a decent speed.

@@betaenterprises2840 yes, but he Chinese army that served during the Korean conflict would have predated the one child rule. I don’t think that rule came in until the 1979, then it needed 18 to 20 years before the pampered, only-child, grew up to serve. That would mean China didn’t start to encounter those soldiers until around 2000s and since. China has recently increased the child bearing to three children per family. Maybe those snot-nose, spoiled brats is one of the reasons they reconsidered?

Singapore meanwhile has almost 1 in 10 of its population in the military (including reserves) since its near to much larger countries, so it feels it's more likely to be easily conquered if invaded, & I think it also doesn't fully trust other countries/mercenaries to defend it (except for Gurkhas employed in law-enforcement) ever since the British colonial powers lacked the resources to defend it from the Japanese in WW2. Then when there isn't any war the military also becomes a huge source of manpower e.g. for pandemic contact tracing, house visits to vaccinate the elderly why may find it more difficult to travel to a SARS-CoV2 vaccination centre. Our Red Cross also borrowed 1 of our infantry batallions' 18 vehicles & their troops to distribute aid to the needy

I'm pretty certain someone would have to have a very serious grudge with them to even bother invading, plus I'm certain the island has alliances with other Ceribean nations for mutual defense. Plus that size and not much worry, it makes sense to basically have the Police and military as one, it saves on spliting resources and means they can be trained specially, to act as Police dealign with civilians, but always ready to act like a soldier should the rare chance of war arrive. P:us having SOME military no matter how small is better then having none and hoping your allies can defend you or you stay lucky an never get threatened.

As an only child myself, it really comes down to how your parents and grandparents raise you. The huge plus to being an only child is you have a greater chance of being anything you want to be because you don't have natural competition at home. At the same time, since you don't have natural competition at home, you have to learn it away from home, so there's a bit of a "late blooming" stage when you can emotionally hold your own against bullies and other kids. (Read More)
The biggest twist of irony to this logic is the biggest asshole I ever met came from a family of 12 kids. He was the youngest. To his credit, he was very charming and had really honed his people skills to the point where he could fit in with just about anybody, but he also had a HUGE God/Dictator complex. He talked about himself constantly, and from his stories, you could tell he was his father's favorite, so his Dad doted on him and raised him with a feeling of entitled invincibility.
So I would say that being an only child definitely has its pros and cons, just like being anybody else in any given family. I didn't learn how to deal with other kids' drama and keep bullies away till I was around 11-12 years old. But I can also say I never felt the need to ruin somebody else's life because my life was my own. And I still feel that to this day. I can be whoever I want to be, so long as I put in the work.

Belgium and Luxembourg provided a Battalion to the UN during the Korean War. They served under command of the British Brigade and played an important part in the Battle of the Imjin River, as the forward Battalion. Cut off from the rest of the Brigade as the Chinese Attacked they were able to extract themselves and rejoin the Bde. They fought with distinction, as did the Filipino Battalion, sent to reinforce the British. They attempted to fight through to relieve the Gloucester, but were overwhelmed by the enemy numbers and only retreated when a British Officer called on them to withdraw with his scratch force, assembled from the Echlon to try and get through to the trapped Battalion. I wouldn't judge an Army's ability or the steadfastness of their troops by the size of their military.

Monaco is actually the third "Smallest Country", San Marino is second, almost 5000 fewer people.
Monaco's Military force is however smaller than that of San Marino, San Marino's Crossbow Corps alone has 70 members, and there are around 275 -300 in all branches.
Also, (and completely irrelevant,) San Marino is the smallest FIFA member, with a very interesting team record.

panjsheer vally is a difficult terrain...and the fighters were armed with stingers...just imagine they can come out the caves and fire at you but you cant do the same with them...you cant even bomb them with aircrafts...fighting in such area is almost similar to shooting the smoke in the hopes to kill it...even a rebel with a kalshnikov can defend against troops with armour healmets and artillary...

Monaco is about a square mile in size 250 soldiers is plenty. On another note, I am always amazed at the marching style of many countries around the world and although interesting to watch (goose-stepping, paused cadence, etc.) The U.S. Military is by far the most straight-forward, practical, 'don't-mess-with-us' style.

The first one about China is just utterly incorrect. They do have a 1 child policy but they also have a population that is 4x larger than the US. Good thing that the americans are built on pure hard discipline from the very young age. True Spartans they are...
