You might learn a lot from this video. Many people trust their approved dealerships but as this video demonstrates, a fault on this Mercedes can be easily fixed within minutes.
Mercedes estimated that the work would take between 1.5 and 2 hours and wanted to charge £268.00.
To avoid being ripped off, I try a bit of car repair DIY to avoid an expensive car repair. I'm now convinced after a second time that car dealership are ripoffs. DIY car repair with the help of CZcams videos, like so many other things, is now a must in order to stop being ripped off.

excellent video. the ripoffs in the auto industry never cease to astound me. My daughter's B class displays exactly the same message. I do question the quality of Mercedes. I have owned several and they are good for about 7 years and then they start to fall apart and cost the owner big money in repairs. This is probably why they drop in value so dramatically.

Thanks so much for your comments and sharing your knowledge and experience. I think all industries are actually the same. Whether car servicing, builders or a government buying PPE. Without due diligence and awareness then your up for being ripped off. Human nature or good business? I understand that Mercedes changed manufacturing processes, I think maybe in the 90s. This resulted in years of poorer quality cars simply badged Mercedes but not with the build quality of old. Looking at the models even later than mine, they appear the same as a Vauxhall or any other modern car.

Thank for the Vid. it's ESP and not EPS, which stand for Electronic Stability Program and won't crash your vehicle unless you are driving over 160KM in harsh weather condition and the simple temporary fix is to disconnect it's module , which located on the trunk or address the ABS. issue which would trigger such ESP code/problem. Scan the faulty code(s), Check the fuses, brake pads, rotors, ABS senor, clean the multi-pole (where ABS sensor goes) in the hub, clean/replace the sensor and finally switch the engine on, turn the steering wheel to the left and to the right until you feel no more rough engine hesitation and that's it. ESP. is not a serious problem as far you are not racing in high speed, but the ABS., which caused it to be.!!!

I need to try this. I mean I have a C180 executive SE petrol 204 2013 edition. During a trip around Europe all of the electronics went off. I got ESP, SpeedTronic, tire pressure sensors, Cruise control, break hold and adaptive breaking lights gone, and also the eco start stop all saying inoperative... In Spain they told told me it was the battery. I spent 500 euros in a new decent Battery still not working after... In Portugal someone put it in a computer and said I need a new central ECU.... Possibly costing 4k.. I haven't been to Mercedes UK where I got the car brand new but ill give this a try and let you all know. Oh I was also told it was a wheel angle sensor but no one seemed to know which one was at fault. The truth is everything was working fine and after a small bumpy road everything stopped working. Still the Skid control and ABS works fine as it won't spin or lock wheels during hard breaking the ABS kicks in. But if during a turn the car skids rear end in loose control and the ESP won't kick in. I know this because I was doing hard turns to make it happen to see if the systems kicked in and they didn't. I'm so confused lol

Hate the exploitation, make a living but don't totally rip people off. It was this that prompted me to say "Approved Mercedes, never afmgain" Now found a lovely, honest super little independent Mercedes specialist. As for the issue. This was an easy fix but after a few years, a very similar, intermittent EPS warning keeps coming on and off. I've been told it's the oxygen sensor. No big problem as not affecting lockdown essential driving but will get it done at some point. That said, probably just the cold weather. Thanks again. The second times, several years later, here in the UK they altered things and said if after exploration they found any fault resulting from a non faulty part, eg possible wear and tear, you'll end up getting a bill. I know this is an old post, but I just saw it. I'm just curious.... Does your "3 min" repair include the tech getting the work order, getting the part from parts dept, walking out to get ur car, pulling it into the shop, clearing the diagnostic codes, road testing the car, parking the car and writing up the job? Or shouldn't the tech get paid for that time as well? I can assure you no tech anywhere is doing that in 3 mins. You also failed to mention if that 1.5 hours included diagnosis.

@@proautomotiveinc.7976 I do agree and somewhere in the comments it did state that I've had that light on again for a different issue. All in all there are many people who have saved tons of money, solved their issue and are very happy that they stumbled across a simple video that has saved them hassle, time and money. For £15, I think it's worth a go but agree, could be totally different. As for diagnosis, from your previous comment. I haven't got enough fingers and toes to count how many times I went to Approved Mercedes where they literally diagnosed faults could be anything. So much for diagnosis. Summary is that that car is long gone. To it's credit it went on for years, 160,000 miles before I had to scrap it. Not so good it had a acceleration fault for over 9 years, that Mercedes never managed to correctly diagnose or fix, even though I gave them thousands of pounds, changing parts that never fixed it!

If brake pedal is not pressed does value must be strictly 0. It is currently jumping in the range (negative) -0.3 to -0.6 bar but while applying pressure seems operating normal goes through all values up to over +140 bar.
