- I've always enjoyed finding influential media, and I have a feeling this anime has the power to influence you as much as it's influenced me.
I'm now enrolled in a drawing academy to focus on my art and I can't wait to share my progress with you all.

I'm a 28 yo, also enrolling in art college this year if i passed the entrance exam. Just barely after i graduate college.
Went to college late at 24. Picked the wrong major, realized that i really am passionate with art.
Thankfully my parents supported me. I just hope i can find a freelance or part time job with my Japanese literature degree.
Its a bit daunting to be in a classroom with people much younger than me. But i'm glad that someone in a similar position to mine .
Lets do our best to achieve our dreams ! 😊
We owe it to ourselves to do our best! I'm rooting for you!
This is good to hear! Starting over when you're "old" isn't easy!
liberal arts degrees are always in high demand in economic recession
@@solarydays thanks for the tip grandpa 🙄
@@PossumMedic you are welcome zoomer
I've been really invested in your videos. It's cool to see another artist in their 30s building their skill. Even though I have been trying to take art seriously since my 20s, I feel like it's just now that I'm really starting to learn. I always see teenagers getting good and it makes me feel like it's too late, so it's great to see another adult genuinely working hard and improving.
You definitely got this! I wudnt worry about them teenagers we all have our own race to run.
I'm glad you've enjoyed my videos and I'm hoping to show more of my progress from here on out.
We got this!
Hey just wanted to let you know that you’re not alone ,we might be in 2 different age groups but I also relate to the comparing yourself to your peers and those younger than you ,but every time I start to have those negative thoughts I remind myself that just like me they’ve also probably compared themselves and they’ve also worked just as hard as me for what they have now.and lastly not everyone will improve at the same time some people are fast learners and some aren’t as others I’ve decided to enjoy art without comparing myself constantly 🙂
Just enjoy it
I stumbled across the manga years ago now... the panels where he realizes the sheer focus of the artists around him?
Every single one lives rent-free in my head.
The intensity of their gazes, the sheer focus and determination and *passion* in their eyes as they work; it's just... it's something else.
I think what you truly miss out on when learning art online is the community of a classroom. Of course, in school, the teacher will give you great personalized advice, but for me, it was seeing what the other students did that really inspired me to do better. When you are all given the same task and see how the others made they're piece, you can see how you could have done things differently. Sometimes in ways you never even thought about. In my opinion, that makes you grow as an artist so much faster than any books !
Blue period is so much relatable to me!!! whenever yatora cries its always very relatable as a student(evven tho I ain't a art student, however every teenagers have to through such phase, a choice to live statisfied or be in a rat race of studying)
"I'm not talented, I just put more time than other however people calling myself being talented, I hate them, they're rude enough to place one word to explain my efforts instead of acknowledging my hardwork"
I'm interested to see when you will start sketching more roughly. Then again, my teacher did come down on me as we were doing croquis about how I should
define my lines more, so each to their own, haha.
Blue Period really does get one's heart pumping... I wish I had the discipline that Yatora has, but ADHD is a pain. I have only read the first two volumes of the manga, but it's so packed with art knowledge, the artist must be a real art nerd of sorts! lol And all the paintings shown in the manga, perhaps the anime too, has different artists that are credited and get their own info section at the end of each volume. Basically, each character seems to have their own artist painting for them in real life. I find that really intriguing.
I'm sorry that you have to fight with something like ADHD. I understand that too well. I hope your still able to follow something you love though!
My goal is to shoe alot more of me drawing from here on out, so hang tight! 😆
It's funny, I'm going through that right now. When I first started trying to draw, my art was very clinical and precise. The only thing I knew were techniques like construction. Now I'm way more rough and figure "eh I'll just clean up my lines when it looks right" lmao
@@Wesed35 Yea, I remember back in the day when I drew really hard lines, like, nearly piercing the paper hard! XD Impossible to erase once you noticed that it looked wonky. 😂 Now you could just take a pic with your phone and fix the sketch, or draw digital from the start. ;)
Dam I feel this.
The first 2-3 episodes of Blue Period are absolutely inspiring! I’m reading Manga continuing from the Anime now. I’m also practicing in digital art in my 30s too. But I have my drawing skill from my teenage days already. So I skipped the basics to struggle with drawing from reference with my style or sometimes all from imagination directly. It’s fun but I can’t say it’s a good way to practice though. I just want to do it this way.
Just commenting to say that I've been going through a very similar process. About 2 years ago, I also read Look Back and it sparked something in me that's compelled me to take up drawing.
I'm 25 now, but when I was in high school I had expressed an interest in drawing but got seriously demotivated. My art teacher (f*** you Mr. Thomas) had basically ridiculed me when I made an actual effort to submit an entry for the Halloween exhibit project, a close friend of mine who was better at drawing than me put down another piece I had worked hard on, so I basically gave up and decided art wasn't for me. Just like how I had concluded then I wasn't "good at math", I told myself that I just wasn't meant to do art because I lacked talent. Sorry, I ended up trauma dumping haha.
Anyways I've been drawing semi-steadily for the past 2 years and have made significant progress. I still haven't progressed as well as I'd like, but that's probably a universal feeling. Hard work beats talent when talent doesn't work hard!
Keep it up and pursue your dreams dude. Like you my learning path has been pretty meandering and unfocused, but I've been contemplating going to a life drawing class to up my figure drawing skills. If you go through with your drawing academy plans, I promise I'll go through with mine too.
I think I'll also start watching Blue Period because of this haha. Thanks for sharing.
Watched all of your current videos. Our stories slightly differ but I'm also a 30yo who's pursuing art lol. As a kid I was fairly decent at drawing and I drew frequently. As I aged into a teen that frequency slowed until one day I felt I had developed artist's block. It was probably all the teen angst but no matter how much I tried I couldn't finish anything. I got frustrated and gave up on drawing for at least 10 years. Bought a pen tablet last year and earlier this year rediscovered my passion for drawing. Now I'm in college as an Art major determined to become an animator. Subscribed to your channel. It's inspiring seeing people our age doing something they're passionate about. Can't wait to see where your journey takes you. Keep it up ✊
@martialartsenthusiast that's so awesome to hear! I'm glad you found your passion again and I too just love hearing the stories of people around my age go after something!
It's very inspiring and one of the only reasons I enjoy making videos tbh lol.
Love the runescape music in the background lol
I always need to put a little bit of my favorites in there for those who know haha 😄
I think our journeys this year have been so similar, I started in about mid-april and I've been doing just kind of whatever seems to be right as the next step in terms of feeling, drawing daily up until about 20 days ago where I took a day off and another day off yesterday. I have however hit a point that I feel like I need some guidance and direction. Maybe its just a rate of progress thing, maybe I've actually hit a small wall and I just don't know how to tackle it. Either way I don't want to stop drawing but I haven't been enjoying it as much recently. I hope you enjoy the art school and that it helps.
Also I should rewatch Blue Period.
Awesome video! Blue Period is just an incredible anime. The part about the art really inspired me, but the thing that makes me connect with it the most, was with the Ryuji plots, cause I kind of connect with them, I have a lot of trans friends, and I can tell their fear of assuming for their parents, and if something happened with they, I don't know what exactly I would do, cause just like Yatora, I'm the type of guy that helps until I start burning myself. Watching Blue Period made me realize this and is something I need to work on
There's definitely so many other plots and scenes that others really resonate with! I was just hoping to convince some people who may have not seen this show to give it a try 😆
I'm glad you enjoyed!
Same but I missed enrollment for this year and gotta do it next year lol
@@poweruwa your gonna be way more advanced when you do get in! I'll be watching 👀 😆
Same i start next year to :)
your drawings are adorable
@@ktn_qx thanks! Always keep your caffeine near! 😆
if you like reading pick up the manga. it continues his story. i really wish the anime can continue to get seasons.
i got the same motivation watching this anime but i never stuck to it since i don't have any thoughts of what id do after
That's totally fair, maybe it just has to stew a bit more XD
i love this anime and am currently reading the manga
I have to get around to reading the manga for sure!
Ah yes i love that the anime touched on that! Art is a skill that you practice not a talent!
100%! But even I didn't know that till this year lol 😅
Aaaa blue period mention!!!
@ilikeblueberrymuffins1235 definitely among the best art focused anime out!
