If you are going to Istanbul and looking for a good Istanbul travel guide you have come to the right place. In this Istanbul food video I give an overview of my favorite food in Istanbul and which food to try in Istanbul. Istanbul is one of my favorite cities and the Turkish food is undoubtedly a highlight of any Istanbul travel. But with so many options, which Turkish food to try? The best dishes to eat in Turkey may often be the most unassuming. A great Menemen breakfast, the excellent Turkish Baklava pastry, the famous Turkish Döner Kebab, the colorful and sweet Turkish delight, a yummy Tantuni chicken wrap, Kumpir as an excellent vegetarian option, Balik Ekmek fish sandwiches freshly fried on one of the boats anchoring at the Golden Horn in Eminönü, the list goes on and on... Wash it all down with a Turkish tea, Turkish coffee or Ayran yoghurt drink - or how about a nice pomegranate juice? Make sure to try this in Istanbul!

Wow! Such a great culinary tour of Istanbul. I get very hungry watching this video. I love Turkish food. I feel very comfortable with it because of halal labelling, especially when I was in Europe. I've to try all, looks really yummy and healthy. So far I only tried Dürüm, Kebab and Baklava:) The ice cream is sooo cool 😅 How about the prices? Thank you Janus. Stay safe in US. Thank you Dina, the prices are all super affordable, especially due to the huge inflation of the Turkish Lira right now. I decided to not put prices as they would be half of what I put in a few weeks. It’s very volatile right now. But none of the dishes I presented will break a bank 👍😅

So much wonderful food to try - I can't wait to go back! Thanks for sharing it all with us. I remember a wonderful restaurant near the main market where we sat on a mezzanine floor with a balcony and watched the food being winched up from the kitchen on the ground floor. I know it is not from Istanbul per se, but I love Iskender kebab - meat and crispy bread covered with tomato sauce and yoghurt.

The cooks who worked for the sultan at the palace were ordered not to serve a meal twice. So they have to invent every day new dishes. And this for almost 600 years of Ottoman Empire. This is why our cuisine is so diversified since Turkey (former Ottoman Empire) was always the melting pot of cultures, the the silk road went through, the bridge from East to West and North and South. What can we expect? Around 10k of dishes and 10k deserts afaik.
That explains the rich palette of dishes in Turkey. It’s a paradise for food lovers

I am interested in 4 gozleme, looks crispy ,9 ayran, 14 fish sandwich looks good but bread seems a little dry? Juicy kebab looks delicious. :)
Those are great choices. The bread was actually fresh and not dry. If at all it was maybe a bit too chewy for me but I’m very picky when it comes to bread 😅

Thank you Nejra, giving accurate prices is tricky with the devaluation of the Lira and the inflation. But I spent an average of $4-5 for street food and $8-15 for restaurant food. Generally, I found the prices very affordable. For $8-10 you can have a very nice breakfast.

We went to Ortakoy to have kompir back in 2016. The walls were covered with cockroaches and the owners kept telling us they are harmless winter bugs 🤢. my advice don’t go to any random place in Istanbul. Btw, I was born in Istanbul and should’ve known better.
Wow, the vendors there are super clean now. I didn’t see any bugs anywhere when I was there. Looks like it has significantly improved since
