    An amateur military historian myself, I must tell you that I have never enjoyed listening to a lecturer more than I have enjoyed listening to you. You have a marvelous gift and I sincerely hope you will present many, many more lectures on Rhodesian and Rhodesian military history. You are doing your native land a great service in the face of a world that was, and is, hostile to everything you stand for and will never acknowledge that black Africans of our era simply did not have the capability to either create or maintain a functioning, modern state in democratic form. Everything the Rhodesian predicted for Zimbabwe happened and still the world refuses to condemn the disastrous and murderous regime(s), insisting that truly horrendous conditions for all citizens, black and white, were and are somehow preferable to life in a well managed, economically robust land under traditional tribal custom and white leadership with increasing numbers of educated blacks participating in the democratic process.

Yesterday I took a long road trip in the state of Arizona USA and I seen a lot of Americans putting their flags out it's flags out....... Every time I see an American Flag I knew it stood for the goodness and righteousness of Christian judao It warmed my heart and I thought at least a 150 million Americans have not lost their mind.... Is God-bless America and the flag of the United States

    Dawson was guilty of gross negligence: idiot, however matters were already in hand to remedy the Matebele issue by the sounds of it. The Matabele, like the Zulu. had 'had their time in the sun', their 'sun' was on the wane. Iklwa vs Martin-Henry or Maxim? Iklwa loses. A fascinatingly interesting recount of this massive upheaval in Rhodesias' infant history, brilliantly told! End of King Lobengula's days, and the Impi ways; almost...............Looking forward to the next installment! Until such time, stay safe..

    We’re only in our 20s but because of you, these stories will not die but live within us - history, like books, allows us to chose companions who, though human in every sense, lived noble lives in accordance to their highest ideals. Thanks to channels like your one, you keep their legacy alive and prove that Rhodesians never die!

    Wats the story behind the bird on the coat of arms

    • @banana1618
      @banana1618 Před 3 lety

      Hey Lion.... the Rhodesian Coat of Arms included the Zimbabwe bird which is the bird to which you are referring. That image is an artist's impression derived from soapstone carvings found at The Great Zimbabwe Ruins more than one hundred years ago. The Zimbabwe bird was first included in the Southern Rhodesian Coat of Arms way back in 1924. As you may be aware it is also included in the Zimbabwe Coat of Arms.

      Thank you for the excellent story telling. I grew up in Umtali in the 60s and was given the nickname “jimsoro” by the cooks and gardeners who worked in our neighbourhood, most of them came from Mozabique. I was always quite proud of the fact that they’d call out “kunjan jimsoro” as I walked along the road. I believe it means literally “big head” do you know if this is correct?

      @@billchapman6783 I lived in Umtali for part of the sixties. Fantastic place -open roads and fast motorbikes! Best days of my life! You are right - I think. "Chimsoro" means head. "Jimsolo," means something else, I'm afraid. James Dawson was known as "Jimmy" by the other whites in Bulawayo, and the corruption of this was "Jimsolo" in Sindebele. Great comment.

    Great stories but just too far apart.
    I wonder if having some more money would allow you dedicate yourself more or less full time to the history of rhodesia, if that would make a difference please let us know. There are many of us and just one of you so putting together a stipend for your work should not be too hard for us.
    I said before but i will reiterate it:
    You not only have good story telling ability but you are one of the few people left that can talk about Rhodesia as a primary source.
    Not only that, you are also one of the few people that knows whom to contact to get more direct information if you happen to not know something about Rhodesia.
    It is hard to say it but it won't be very long before several of your contacts and sources will no longer able to tell their stories, causing them to be lost to history or to be pieced together by marxist historians hellbent of portray Rhodesia and his white population as a bunch of barbaric colonizers as they are looking trough history trough political glasses. You are a rare person, i can't find another like you amongst the millions of content creators that populate CZcams.
