    This movie is getting brutally trolled by general malayali audience for being too cringy and cliche but still it managed to collect good money at box office

      Always a shame to hear movies getting trolled. Criticism is okay, but trolling I don't like. I didn't think it was perfect but I thought it had some good parts. I liked the set design, cinematography, music and intention.

    Had to stop your video & return later as the movie is now on my watch list. How odd: I was just thinking of posting on Reddit about any Indian meta films about Indian cinema in the 1950s or ‘60s. It’s a couple of decades off but this seems like what I was looking for…thanks! 🙃

      No worries and thanks for the comment anyway haha. I'm not aware it's any movies that look at cinema from the 50s and 60s, but this does a decent job of taking about film during the 70s and 80s in South India.
      There was a movie called Jigarthanda DoubleX from the Tamil industry last year, not exactly the same thing but it had some elements which were similar to this.

    - It does drag a bit. And it's in places where I don't want it to be so. I'd have loved to see more of the reason for their split and that dichotomy in their journey in film and music respectively, rather than as a truncated music video, which suddenly resumes when they meet up again.
    - People complained that the song "Nyabagam" was spammed a lot in the movie, and to be honest, I can see their point. It'd have been better used as a leitmotif than using snippets of the song throughout the movie.
    - I don't think romantic subplot was needed for Murali's character as it felt like a plot device to make him leave for Madras. However, the movie executed Venu's romantic subplot perfectly.
    - The movie did force comedy in places where I'd have loved it to be serious and subdued.
    I'll appreciate this movie for what it tried to do, and the story it tried to tell - but not for _how_ it went about telling it. It wasn't as bad or cringe as people claim, but there is a definite ground for arguing so, due to certain choices in the execution.

      Agree with most of what you mentioned here. The romantic sub plots I felt could have been better for sure, I didn't mind the repetition of the song though!
      I appreciate it for what it was trying to achieve though as you mentioned, it was ambitious. I still enjoyed it, but it could have been better.

    When it came to theatre general population loved it and it actually became a box office hit. Majority response were positive for this movie. After OTT release people from reddit and X started bashing and trolling it. I personally loved the movie. It was heart warming movie and i rate it as above average movie.

      Oh man thanks for leaving this comment. I 100% agree. I try not to pay much attention to the echo chambers of X and Reddit, I only got to know it was being trolled through the comments here. I personally enjoyed it, as you said an above average movie which told a heart warming story of perseverance and never giving up. It did have it's flaws, it's not perfect, but I'm disappointed it's being trolled.

    Regreted going to theatres for this one, a lot is happening on the screenplay for nothing .Many cliches, melodramas, felt so crinche. Still, the sad part is I was actually enjoying the friendship bond (which was not successfully build up) and kodambakkam setup, but all the shortcomings took me out of things I loved in this movie and made me hate it instead. The acting and makeup when the characters became old age is so mediocre, and what was even the need of Kalyanis character both on the flashback and present day story line.

    • @D54pod
      @D54pod  Před 2 měsíci +1

      I agree with a lot of what you said actually, but I didn't hate it (I also didn't see it in cinema though). It was painfully long though. I also enjoyed the build up, the friendship and some of the themes. The makeup was great during the first half, but yeah the second half, especially Pranav Mohanlal and Kalyanis were really bad.
      I mentioned the movie tried to do to many things. The romance angles probably didn't deserve as much screentime as they got.

      @@D54pod Yeah, lets hope the next vineeth film to be a great one, I really loved his old movies when I was just a teenager, and I believe he still has that if he concentrate on the main plot.❤️

    Though the movie was successful in theatres, after its OTT release people made fun of Vineeth's direction. There are so many flaws in the make up, screenplay & acting. His movies are so overrated.

      @D54pod  Před 2 měsíci

      Fair enough, I thought it was a good attempt to tell a deeper story, but it was a little overloaded with themes.
