- In this video I watch a few films that show birds of prey and give my opinion. Starting with Kes, the story of a young yorkshire lad taking a wild kestrel and training it, moving on to the Falcon in Mulan. I take a look at a couple of the Harry Potter films showing the Owls used for mail delivery and kept in tiny cages, and finally looking at a clicker training scene in Jurassic World.
I watched this as a kid in the 70's, just told my girlfriend I've wanted a Kestrel more than a dog, and ended up on your channel.
In my 50's now an still dream about owning one. Kes was a great film, going to find it today and watch it. New subscriber by the way.
In Harry Potter 4 they used a food colouring to paint Sirius' eagle owl black, because they wanted a big black owl that did not exist 😅
Watched kes as a kid,and it made me cry.Such a wonderfull film but the ending so sad imo.
Have you ever seen the old movie called Harpy? I think it's from the 50's. It was my first introduction to falconry. It's a story about a guy who trains a Harpy eagle to kill his ex wife because she burned down his mews. Crazy, bizzare movie!
I will definitely look for that!
I remember something in a young school about stories. But yes, I'm enthralled 😮.
Lol I can never what’s so caled bop/falconry related tv or films they just piss me off lol
Harry Potter is what made me fall in love with owls but those movies got Hedwig wrong! It's only the female Snowy Owls that have the black tips on their feathers, and every time Hedwig was shown in a close up shot, "she" was all white, meaning that they mainly used male Snowy Owls for Hedwig!
I live in northern Michigan over in the US, and I'm about to be moving into a house with a fairly large backyard and a lot of trees. Any advice as to how I can make my backyard "Owl Friendly" in the hopes that I can draw in a pair of Eastern Screech Owls?
Can common buzzard bueto bueto be used in falconry like goshawk sparrowhawk falcon
See The Visitor for fun. Ladyhawk is a classic. Hitchcock’s Birds is almost a Monty Python sketch.
The falcon in mulan is a saker falcon.
Kes is great but so are the scenes in Falcon and The Snowman. Showing his relationship with his.
It doesn't make sense Harry Potter's owl is kept in a small cage, it's not suitable with its physical condition
Think he showed the front of the glove to expose the food the first time, once the bird understands, hide it every time.
I was actually interested in watching tat movie, til u said it had a sad ending!! 😂
Yes very sad at the end.
