  • A complete boat ramp for a Jon Boat with a hand cable winch to pull the boat right up out of the water!

Lifting a jon boat in and out of the water can be difficult, especially if you're by yourself. This setup operates with a hand winch that snaps to the front of the boat and then pulls the boat up and out of the water onto a wooden frame with caster wheels so the boat can slide smoothly.

Just had this project thrown on me this morning. New waterfront I’m managing, their staff will not and probably cannot beach nearly this identical boat every day. I won’t get a winch system in today but this video gave me great visuals for all the rest.

Where did you buy the wheels?

Seems like a bit of overkill for a boat that size. I'm sure two people, if not one, can pull that thing out by themselves. But great job nonetheless!

I love the concept and want something for my floating jetty, as my boat is on a tidal river that goes up and down a lot. At low tide it's just sitting on mud, with the deeper water about 15 ft away, so I'd love something like this for launching and retrieving during really low tide. I'm rather confused why you'd need it though, with such a nice firm, dry bank and such a light boat? You could pretty much just pull that thing out the water? My other question is how to you winch yourself up, from inside the boat?

there are a lot of roots that stick up that were putting dents in the bottom of the bottom when I was bringing it up. Ill just hook the cable up from inside the boat then jump out and winch it up

What is that white "plastic" looking stuff?

i think its pvc so it helps the wood with strength or so the boat slides on it better without scratching
