Cable is actually from present time. He's Scott's and what turned out to be a clone of Jean Grey's son. He was infected with a techno organic virus and sent to the future so he could be saved, thus the metal arm. He has to use a portion of his powers at all times to keep it from spreading. When he came back he was older than his parents. You need to watch the Celine Ashes music video if you haven't seen it.

One would think that the merc with a mouth that has good aim using a katana would have a lot better aim when throwing a cheese spreader at the head of a guy aiming a gun in the direction of him and his girlfriend and considering that wade can’t die then if he shoots Deadpool and Vanessa is behind him then she is very likely to die if she isn’t behind sufficient cover which she wasn’t for some reason
