DIY MACRAME BACKPACK TUTORIAL | How to make macrame backpack | T-SHIRT YARN BAG | [SUB EN/PL/ES]

Create decorative macramé backpack using t-shirt yarn ( thickness 4-5 mm).
It was one of my first designs, but I made some improvements :)
I will show you how to make beautiful and useful adjustable straps.
It takes time to make it, but satisfaction is guaranteed ;)

Size of the backpack approx. 28 cm x 11.5 cm x 23 cm (11' x 4.5’ x 9')
Total length of adjustable straps 70 cm (27,5’)
You will need for the whole project:
t-shirt yarn ( ~ 270 m) creatoriq.cc/3... ( you need 2 pieces)

Pair of triglide slider buckles 38 mm s.click.aliexp...
Pair of rectangular metal rings 38 mm s.click.aliexp...

clothes rack and some "S" hooks
Prepare and cut the cords:
2 x 3.5 m
50 x 2.5 m
40 x 2.2 m
8 x 5 m (for 2 straps 70 cm long)
3 x 1.5 m (for the braid)
1 x 1.8 m (for the handle)
3 x 0.7 m (for the handle)

Just started to create my first backpack using your tutorial Which is clear and really usefull. Didn’t have t-shirt yarn so I ma using 1ply 3 mm cotton cord in mustard. Let’s see what will come out. Am actually very excited about it
Enjoy the process and I can’t wait to see what will come out 😁 with 3mm single strand cord might be more difficult. Braided cord 4-5 mm would be better in my opinion. Take it slow 🤗
Właśnie zaczęłam robić plecak sznurkiem 5mm i mam obawy czy wyjdzie 😢mierze szerokość i wychodzi mi 38cm..Chyba będzie za wielki i w ogóle może zabraknąć sznurka 🤔🙈? Jak Pani uważa? Jeśli chodzi o makrame to jestem średnio zaawansowana;) Ale początek mocno zaciskalam i równo w miarę
Absolutely gorgeous!!! I love your design and will definitely make one! Wow, I just started Macrame and just made a bag using square knots only. Having a pattern gives the bag a complete different look. Thank you for sharing your video!

This may be a really silly question, but I am not familiar with T-shirt yarn! Is this something that you can purchase on a roll or do you individually have to cut strands from fabric?? That would be a mammoth task!!! I have done macrame for years, but only used jute or cotton cord. Thank you for sharing a great tutorial 💟💜💟
Haha of course you can make it 😊 but also You can buy it ! Just search for T-shirt Yarn. I buy it in a local store with yarns 😍 2 rolls if they are at least 130m would be enough.

Hello Thank You ! Yes I think the same length can be used with braided cord 4 or even 5 mm. T-shirt yarn I used is 4-5 mm. Let me know how it went ! 🤗

Yes, if you want to use twisted rope I would suggest 3 or 4 mm.

Cudny plecak❤. Chciałabym spróbować z Twoją pomocą zrobić taki sam, ale mam sznurek 5mm skręcany, czy mi wyjdzie z tym materiałem?

Hello 🤗 It’s a t-shirt yarn, approximately 4-5 mm, No-name, I bought locally in Heraklion, Crete, but you can use any 4 or 5 mm braided cotton cord 🤍🤍🤍

Please explain why you hold the 4 cords out on either side and then 1/2 hitch also, where do you show in the tutorial what you do with the 2 x 3.5 cords that hold the backpack onto the hanger....
Hi there! The cord that was tied to the hanger at first you make half hitch knot and after square knots with 4 cords that was left. Check the 03:53 in the video.
so beautifull, i will try this one, does your tshirt yar stretch? and do i need to stretch to measure or just cut the yarn unstretched?
Thanks ! Yes t-shirt yarn stretches. Don’t stretch when cutting them. I tie my knots quite tight in this project. Good luck ! Share the results 🤍
Beautiful design! Has anyone tried doing this with 3mm cotton cord? I have a ton of it and was hoping to use it for this project. Can't seem to find t-shirt cord
Thank You 🙏 T-shirt yarn is approximately 4-5 mm. You can try with 3mm braided cotton cord, but the backpack will be smaller. I would recommend 5mm braided cotton cord here. If you try I would love to see it 🤗
Can I use 2mm yarn for this and if so do I need to make length adjustments to make a full length bag?
In my opinion 5mm cord would be better for this project or maybe use double cords (2mm) and same length.

Does this stay soft or is it pretty stiff when it's completed?
If You make knots tight it is stiff and keeps its shape.
Help! I’m so confused by the beginning bit with the 2 3.5m cords!! Are the cords supposed to have a shorter and longer end? What are the measurements? How do we do it!
00:53 fold both cords 3,5 m long in half and overlap them. Distance between them is about 35 cm ( you will adjust it after the cords are attached) the amount 3,5 m is more than you need. Good luck 🤞
Thank you! Sorted it. My other question is when we are doing the 40 pieces of 2.2m….the bottom half is 1.25m no problem, but the top comes up at 0.85 not 0.95, I assume due to the knot taking up a few cms of cord. Is this okay? Will it cause a problem later?
Yes it’s fine. The important is the bottom part to be 1.25 m 😁

Plecak piekny ale tutorial totalnie nie czytelny. W wielu momentach nie wiadomo co robic, pani juz dawno poleciala z praca do przodu i tylko pokazuje efekt koncowy do ktorego nie wiadomo jak doszla. Zbyt szybko i niedokladnie pokazane ruchy, zly opis. Mimo wszystko sprobuje go wyplesc, bo jestem samoukiem i nie brak mi wlasnej inteligencji co nie zmienia faktu, ze filmik jest malo pomocny.
Dzięki za komentarz. Plecak wg tego filmu został wykonany wielokrotnie przez różne osoby, także myśle ze z pomocą własnej inteligencji na pewno go wykonasz ! Powodzenia :)
