@@normalperson397 I'm broke and work a physical labor job and have to take the bus everywhere. Worst comes to worse, I have rebar and ~45lb wire spools at work. I'll just do deadlifts there for a few reps and save myself the trip as long as we're doing rough work.

Facts. I went to a more "weightlifter friendly" gym for years before I signed up for PF. Is PF as good for weightlifting/HIIT/classes as my old gym? No, but it's a whole lot cheaper, closer, and more convenient (I got a black card so I can bring a guest even when it ain't my "home" gym, use the massage chairs and go to any PF even when I'm OT on vacation). Most average gym goers ain't doing anything with dumbells over 75 lbs anyway except maybe bench, but I've thrown 4 plates on the Smith and never once had the lunk alarm rang on me. It usually only goes off for douchebags that ego lift and can't control the weight.
if your goal is bodybuilding you can literally build just as good a physique at planet fitness than a standard commercial gym if you know how to properly train
@@pj-hs7pk I actually understand it. They are trying to market the place to casual gym goers. That’s why they don’t allow tank tops and have a lunk alarm, in order to deter the gym junkies and roid ragers. I get it. I just don’t like how it portrays itself as being all inclusive. Like just admit you don’t welcome gym bros. I can understand why, to be honest most serious bodybuilders and powerlifters (from what I’ve observed) are moronic self-absorbed assh*les that are petty for the dumbest stuff. Probably better to have a gym without those people.
Planet fitness doesnt allow you to cancel your membership over the phone too. You have to go to the physical location, and they did this during the pandemic knowing that people couldnt cancel their membership.
I get value out of it. I use their WiFi to work while working out and I take a nice long hot shower there and I am black card and use their tan beds and massage machines. Also they have a lot of locations so if I'm out of town I get a good workout in. There's value in it for some people.
You can put scary music over anything to make it sound like something nefarious is going on. Planet Fitness caters to a certain audience, and that's fine, that's how they make money. The dumbbells only go up to 75 pounds at most locations, but very few people will even get there. Planet Fitness may not be attractive for powerlifters and bodybuilders, but 99% of people who work out will find most of what they need at Planet Fitness to be in good shape.

I once had a friend that tried to cancel a membership and said they had to write a LETTER to cancel the membership… that’s another way they get you, spend time writing a letter or spend another 10 bucks, it’s absurd
We went back to Planet Fitness once COVID was over and we do go 4 to 5 times per week on average. When I was much younger, my go to gym was Gold's Gym and I lifted heavy but now, I don't need that anymore and lift much, much lighter so I appreciate the machines even though I can max most of them out. When college is going, our son doesn't have much time to go but he does make it once a week.
Because it’s a less intimidating environment for normies. They’ll buy the year long contract type membership and not show up most of the time. New Year’s resolutions and stuff. But a lot of insecure normies dislike feeling inferior or like their being judged. Therefore the marketing towards normies whom are average takes basically that entire demographic. Which is honestly smarter by a business perspective because that demographic is a lot bigger than that of the people whom actually have the will and tenacity to love the gym
Because we are such a small portion of the population. Normies are intimidated so they make it comfortable for them. Serious lifters probably make up less than 10% of the population. You're always gonna make more money when you appeal to 90% rather than 10%.
Tbh when I use to go to planet fitness there was a shit ton of body builders and very fit guys so it’s not actually a place that strays from fit people
Bro this guy look like he ever went to gym before? He’s trying to get views, he’s got no idea what he’s talking about, he’s seen couple planet fitness videos on YT and came up with his own conclusions.
Gonna be real with you. It’s fully 100% your own fault if you sign up for a gym membership and don’t commit to using it regularly. Especially if the gym is very close to where you live. In just 3-4 weeks you can build really solid foundations for future health just by doing light cardio 20-40 minutes 3-4 times a week. The ability to access those machines for just $10 a month is probably the best value you will ever get for anything in your entire life, considering that this bare minimum level of exercise will prolong your life and increase the quality of your life for that duration. Also semi-related myth busting, eating healthier or dieting is NOT expensive and doesn’t require special amounts of effort. First off, you should be eating LESS food. Portion control is huge. Less food = less money spent. Healthy food is not expensive. You don’t have to buy organic stuff. You can get big bags of frozen vegetables for $2 that can be microwaved in 4-6 minutes. You can also buy meat on sale. I get chicken drumsticks for $2 a pound, party wings for $4 a pack, and breasts for $3 a pound on sale. I also get london broil for $4-5/lb when it goes on sale. Pork chops about the same on sale. There’s ALWAYS some meat on sale. Most of this stuff you can just slap some seasoning on it and throw it in the oven for 25-45 mins. Steak you can just sear in a pan for 4 minutes a side on high and then stick it in the oven for 20 mins at 350 and it’s good to go. If you need cheap carbs too you can get sacks of rice and potatoes pretty cheap, but I avoid that stuff.
There's also the advantage of finding one almost anywhere, and they will have the same equipment. This can help with consistency, which is more important in the long run.
@@xichsterbe2758 I actually do touch the gym. I just don’t look towards influencers to do it like lazy losers like you do. Yes, the point of a planet fitness is to go to a place where bodybuilders won't be, so you don't feel bad about yourself. They aren't bad because of that.
@@v01d_r34l1ty I mean, I see the hypocrisy of it, but it's main intention is so you don't feel bad about yourself in comparison to bodybuilders, and I'm not directly opposed to that.

Depends on how you look at it. Selling crash dieting plans and useless weight loss gimmicks is more what I consider taking advantage of insecurities. Giving an obese and timid person like me somewhere to go with easy to use machines and surrounded by a diverse clientele of people in various stages of fitness encourages me to work out. It’s clean, cheap, open 24 hours (I have to go at 4 am because of my job), and I’ve lost 20lbs in three months. My resting heart rate went from 86 to 62, my diabetes is in check, and my blood pressure is, according to my doctor, fantastic. 👍
The funny thing about this is i recently got a membership over there rather than my normal gym because I wanted to test it out and the only people in there are body builders. They also have some really good equipment so it’s way better than others
My boss was a bodybuilder and in 08 we had to close his gym and we both got planet fitness memberships near our workshop. We were big guys and no one bothered us in the gym. People talk too much shit about planet fitness.
Cool! More room for those of us who do go!! Jan is always a pain until the 'New Years Resolution' types get tired and quit coming. I actually do see quite a few really fit people at PF; if someone doesn't like it, they can always go to Gold's Gym--oh, wait...
I dont really encounter this a lot at my PF, I like the abundance of cardio machines, as it allows me to work on at least one for sure, no waiting. Its cheap to even splurge on the black card and as someone starting out their fitness and weight loss journey, PF can easily still be used. Its all about being consistent.
I've traveled alot, literally been to a ton of PF's across the states everywhere and I've seen a ton big gym goers and buff people, never once heard the alarms go off and there is squat racks.. they've just turned into a regular gym
Its like $100 a year if you go 1-2 times a month you definitely got your moneys worth. I'm more comfortable at planet fitness than a more hardcore gym and it makes me more likely to go, I think.
When I was reviving from an injury I went there. Stopped going because I did more waiting than working. Crowded AF and a forth of stuff like leg press machines and actual benches.
I go there and Idk if this happens at every gym but the most people I’ll see there is on a Monday then by Thursday is pretty much 10 people there indulging the staff wild
Ah yes the “judgement free zone” where anyone that actually tried to work out gets mocked, there’s an alarm that goes off if you make too much noise while… working out, and they knowing profit off of people who don’t need or use their service. You’d have to kill me before i sign up for a planet fitness. Probably the worst thing that you can do to start a fitness journey is get a membership there.
I used to hate on planet fitness I tried it out once and was pretty stoked on how clean it was, restrooms were better than my local gym and even had some useful machines that I don’t have at my local gym. For what I’m paying I wouldn’t mind going there for those reasons.
I considered joining planet fitness but they were too opaque about their fees. It was hard to find all the fees listed in one place and they made it way too complicated, having a fee for joining, quitting, monthly, and annual. It seems like they really want to lock you in.
ALL gyms rely on a portion of their members to not show up. For instance they like to push 2 or 3 year plans since most people are able to keep up at most 5 months.
Honestly, the one I go to caters to bodybuilders looking to cut up before a competition, they even took out the lunk alarm, the guy who runs it used to be a powerlifter 😂
I have never understood why people bash PF. If you are just starting out it is cost effective and their equipment has several safety features so you do not hurt yourself (something you are likely to do when starting). This likely reduces their insurance keeping the cost low. A lot of their machines max at 250 lbs - 300 lbs, Smith machines can hold 6 plates a side (585 lbs), and leg press the same (665 lbs). These are solid weight ranges even for moderate lifters. Personally, in a country where 60% of the population is overweight or obese I am just happy to see people putting in effort.
Don't get me wrong, you can still 100% make amazing progress at Planet Fitness, just be consistent!

I really enjoy planet fitness and the large amount of machines the only problem I have is the smith machines are always taken and there are only 3 but other than that there is 2 of every weight machine (not including ab area) + whatever is in the 30 minute workout zone which they say is only for that program and they watch it but nobody uses it for that and it's just extra machines and the other half of the gym is cardio machines.

Planet fitness doesnt allow you to cancel your membership over the phone too. You have to go to the physical location, and they did this during the pandemic knowing that people couldnt cancel their membership.

How does kicking out peeople who seriously work out make them more money?
Tbh when I use to go to planet fitness there was a shit ton of body builders and very fit guys so it’s not actually a place that strays from fit people
That's because none of the fat people are there.

They must hate me, cuz I never miss a day. I've been trained to not miss a day at the gym from TKD dojang to BJJ gym
300 people in a gym at one time is literally insane

Yes, the point of a planet fitness is to go to a place where bodybuilders won't be, so you don't feel bad about yourself. They aren't bad because of that.

It was a good gym, we got in good workouts and giant was next door so we d buy chicken fingers or rotisserie chicken and cashew butter etc post workout and hog in the work truck.
Good times. We were big guys and no one bothered us in the gym. People talk too much shit about planet fitness.
This strategy is actually true of ALL gyms. Every gym has significantly more members than they can hold. Even elite ones like Equinox.
I saw the planet fitness in Dominican Republic giving doughnuts at the door😂, I definitely agree they're not going for people who workout
Cool! More room for those of us who do go!! Jan is always a pain until the 'New Years Resolution' types get tired and quit coming. I actually do see quite a few really fit people at PF; if someone doesn't like it, they can always go to Gold's Gym--oh, wait...
As a business model, It’s brilliant. I just wish every member would show up one day.
Why does bro look like the pixar character filter?
Thank you Alex Hermozi.
I've traveled alot, literally been to a ton of PF's across the states everywhere and I've seen a ton big gym goers and buff people, never once heard the alarms go off and there is squat racks.. they've just turned into a regular gym

I SUPPORT IT. Get the average person who doesn’t know wtf they’re doing into the gym!
Literally every mainstream gym ever
Don’t forget they give you free food to make you stay in gym longer
That’s like opening a brothel for unix
I make gains at PF and they have what i need to reach my current goals.
Love their business model!
