Welcome back to my series from onboard Rhapsody of the Seas, one of the smallest and oldest cruise ships from Royal Caribbean. I'm onboard this cruise ship for a 7-night cruise from Israel, and around the Greek Islands.
In this video, we've docked in Rhodes, and it's time to get off of the ship and explore! The plan for today is to check out the Rhodes Medieval City, the Marina, the Windmills and also the Beach - it's going to be a BUSY day!
This was my first ever time visiting the Greek Islands, so I found every single day of this itinerary SO exciting - thanks for watching and coming along on the adventure with me!
I have previously cruised with Royal Caribbean onboard Symphony of the Seas, so it's really interesting to see how the older ships compare (they're SO different!) - I'll be showing you more on this topic as my videos progress!

whoohoo found your Greece trip! I lived in Rodos on Rhodes for a year and a half :-) When it was really super-hot and people walked the same way you're walking from the ship, they'd just jump into that water there! Watching to see if you get close to where I lived......ahhh so many memories! Thank you for taking me down memory lane!

Rhodes looks lovely! And how nice to just get off the ship and have everything you want to see in walking distance.
I was curious to hear about the solo meet-up but oh well. That was such a big fail on the ship's staff who planned it! There are certainly enough venues on the ship that if they were having 2 events going on simultaneously, they could have put them in different locations.
I've read that some of the newer ships have actually put in single cabins which is a definite plus for those of us traveling solo.

I always hate when a line doesn’t execute the solo stuff well - it’s such easy points to get! The solo cabins are great, especially when you’re near other solo’s so can easily meet each other.

Haven’t been to Rhodes since 1973. Have to go back . PS I got there on MSC they were a sleeper ferry back then max 20 guest no single cabins just 4some cabins. Like camp if you didn’t book with friends you got roommates. MSC you’ve come a long way baby
Oh wow - I didn’t know MSC were like this - I think I prefer their new setup, ha!
Loved your video…. I went to Rhodes for the first time on a cruise last year and absolutely loved it. Right up my street with a mix of history and Beach. I would love to go for longer and see more if the island. I agree that the best thing to do is just go for a walk rather than an excursion. Can’t wait to see what you think of Santorini’s and mykanos
I hadn’t really thought too much about Rhodes, but then one of my friends went just before I did on the cruise and seemed to love it - now I understand why!

A great port, makes you realise how beautiful and historic Greece is. Imagine you finding a Yacht Marina ! ! 😂There is some great small boat cruises around the Western Isles/ the Hebrides that I hope to try one day......
Totally agree Stephen - wait until you see the next episode from Santorini - it was one of my favourite ports EVER!
I’m not sure the Western Isles could deliver such a strong tan, haha!
@FraserAtSea Aye, but catch the Western Isles on the right day..... However, I bet you were glad of your shades, hat, and factor 50 for that port. My mother would have described you as "Skel-pit" in a obviously concerned tone ! 🤣
Nice content, going on my first cruise this week!! As a solo, flying to Miami on Tuesday then in to unknown on the Ncl Joy on Thursday.. not sure what to expect, heard so many different stories and experiences 🙄
Oh my goodness - I’m so excited for you! Miami was my first cruise, and I obviously had an absolute ball! I was actually docked beside NCL Joy in Boston a few months ago - she’s a BEAUTY!
My advice - go into it with an open mindset and go along to the solo meet ups. Please let me know how you get on!
Rhodes is a lovely island. We stayed there for a holiday. It’s great to be able just to get off the ship and walk around.
I totally agree - I could barely believe how accessible the old town was to the ship and port area!

It said: "Only 3 windmills left," but you could see 2 opposite the promenade deck! Perhaps they meant 3 _working windmills_ those 2 seemed to have no rotors/blades.

Sitting here in central PA in USA with fresh snow coming down... that nice weather is looking really nice just now... I've heard from other vloggers Celebrity has thrown around penalizing we solo cruisers with higher rates than the doubles pay... good thing I'm not even remotely looking at Celebrity at all...
Ha, I know the feeling - I’m currently in an icy cold England, wishing I could feel that warmth again - one day…!!
I’m also not weighing up celebrity currently - some of their solo pricing for the U.K. this year is, quite frankly, abhorrent!

Apart from the island itself which is, like Cyprus, a jewel in the med, any sign of De Beers diamonds around the place?
(Cecil Rhodes founded the diamond mining corp in S Africa years ago.)
Ah, I didn’t know De Beers was linked to here at all - will need to go back and investigate, haha!
