I would have been more happy if he Slipknot-ified it rather than tried to sound exactly like Layne. You're right Corey is great, but Throw in some screams, something to make it interesting rather than trying to hit exactly the same notes. Nothing more frustrating watching covers from established musicians who have their own style making a carbon copy cover

For being a man of such small stature physically speaking, Layne had an incredibly powerful voice. Not only that, but in Mark Lanegan’s book, he talked about how Layne, now matter how hard he had partied the night before, always made it on stage and blew audiences away, night after night. Sometimes he would be up all night partying, walk right out on stage and just blow the audience away with how powerful his voice was. He was without doubt an enormous talent.

Layne Staley and the rest of Alice in Chains are well deserving of all the tribute songs, that are all performed by amazing and very talented musicians. I just think it's amazing that as talented as all those musicians are, there was and is just something very special about Layne Staley's voice and singing.
