The reason we are having more bike accidents is because growing up in the 70's and 80's we were taught to ride opposite of the flow of traffick. This was so bike riders can see vehicles coming toward them and if a person was in a parked car getting ready to exit. Now you have bikes riding with traffic so they can't see if a car is coming up behind them, the car is too close or someone is fetting ready to open a car door. Then you have bike lanes that cars move over into so they can make turns. I still ride my bike opposite of traffic and can see if I need to get out of the way or stop. If they changed it back to a way that made since we'd probably cut those accidents down. I know it's people in msp and in office that are old enough to remember this

My thoughts on this is that bike rides shouldn't coexist with cars on the street. More people are high and drunk behind the wheel and using their cell phones. Bikers think they are invincible and they are not. A driver has the car body as a form of protection and what is protecting a biker out in these streets.
