The cincau jelly is made from leaves of plant called cincau. The colour of the cincau is originated from the leaf itself, not food colouring. We usually add palm sugar and coconut milk to drink cincau. Its kind of traditional boba of Indonesia.

cincau is made from some plant (Platostoma palustre). its very common in indonesia especially java island. super healthy and yummy

i felt the pain of that watch seller when you asked for 50k. coz thats usually the price he bought it for, arround 50-70k, so he would make no profit.
and they sell it at 100-150k.

We call that ice apple in India. It comes from palm tree. Solid colourless jelly stuff . And they prepare local beer from that palm tree in South India. Love from chennai
the seller of coconut pancakes lied about the price being sold and it's true that you can only buy one pack, but as far as I know it costs only 10,000 rupiah for 1 pack, not 20,000 rupiah. What's more, you only took 2 meals from a pack containing 6, I hope you don't regret coming to Indonesia again, because there are still many other good people :)

You might want to give BOGOR, my home town, a visit while you are in Jakarta, the culinary destination of people of Jakarta. About 1 hour by train. Often overlooked by tourists. Though it's close to Jakarta, it has it's own unique taste. Rich of historical places and where the President resides at the moment.

Greetings from Santa Barbara, CA! The juice drink looks like grass jelly which is very popular throughout Asia. It doesn't have a strong grassy taste but generally quite mild.
from indo here, that specific kind of drink seller always use a specific cheap store-bought jelly. they literally taste like a solidified water.
yes true its grass jelly. the smell is unique. by just smell it you already know its grass jelly. i usually make myself from the instant powder lol

It's grass jelly with sugar syrup.. you can find them everywhere in Southeast Asia... we call it Gulaman in the Philippines.

We do modify our foods too unfortunately.. or fortunately(?) i don’t know about pineapples but for example rice can only originally harvested twice a year, with dmo it can be up to 3-4 times. Oh and we use pesticides too!

Talking about fire crackers, there was an accident in Pasar Pagi ( the market ), so a guy was unloading crates of fire crackers, but i guess he forget about it or smth idk, he slammed the crate and it exploded. It happened decades ago.

The jelly stuff is called iceapples. The grow on palm tree which look like coconut tree but they are a different species. You get them in India too. Its the same tree from which the tap toddy too. You must have had toddy in kerala. Toddy is a mild alcoholic drink. It has natural fermentation.
