      Do you feel guilty you're not sick when others are? that you're home and not in a hospital sick? etc. Try not to borrow trouble. There is something amazingly impactful about a forced halt on life, and it'll affect everyone differently. I'm happy you are feeling like you've been given a gift. You have been! I'm extroverted and I am personally going a bit crazy. But I'm trying to be open-minded about what this halt could teach me, and I consider it a blessing too!

    • @tpkyterooluebeck9224
      @tpkyterooluebeck9224 Před 4 lety +1

      As far as drama on FB, I don't get any. I try not to post it publically too, but sometimes I forget that if I am having issues with a particular company, I do not need to say it to the world, as the world could care less. I'm learning. I think following the right people helps. OTOH, its nearly impossible to have friends in your life and tell them, I'm sorry, I don't want to follow you because you are a downer. It helps to be a loner. Thus, I fully support all of you who are not on FB! I get it! I really do get it. What I had to rid myself of was Quora as the Quora bots and admin were driving me nuts with their rules. The funny bit is when they insisted "this question is the same as that question" when it really wasn't, then changed their minds about it being merged. Answers were being merged and unmerged so often that you never knew where your answers were! ROFL I quit answering most questions, but do read Quora from time to time, but only because some of the answers are heartwarming or funny or uplifting in some way.

    You are right when you talk about "home schooling " vs "schooling from home ". So many parents don't do it correctly and I've seen kids suffer because of it. You're a good mom, Mayim.

    • @pollyolsen5835
      @pollyolsen5835 Před 4 lety +2

      Yes! Great advice for parents who are currently in charge of educating their kids at home. I homeschooled for many years. It is NOT the same. It is a big change for both the parents and the children. Your kids know this is temporary and they are going to push back. Try to let it roll off your back. You are stressed and your kids are stressed too.

      My kid has been a trooper. School is from after breakfast until lunch. Our district has given optional work but my homeschooling friends with same grade kids as mine have stepped up to help guide me in finding resources to keep my kid entertained, engaged, and motivated. We are finding a balance until we either get to go back to school or school sends us more in depth work. Right now, nothing is mandatory and no grades will be given for assignments completed except for one ongoing project. I am desperately hoping the teacher gives me more information about what the project is and what we need to be doing. We just came off spring break week so teachers are calling and letting us know what we can do, should do, and answering questions. Schooling from home is definitely NOT homeschooling!

    finally, a person in the entertainment industry who actually has a clue as to what the rest of the country (and the world) is going through, and understanding that for most people (especially parents) are really struggling during this crisis. You can easily overload on news (trust me, I do it ally the time). But we live in an era where 24/7 is way it is. Before you had to actively seek news and information beyond the 6 o'clock news once a night, to actively trying to avoid it for most of the day. Also I wanted to say I saw some people comment about the "Imagine" instagram. personal thought: I'd really want to believe that those people in their hearts thought they were helping. But it just also shows how out of touch most of Hollywood is to the rest of the average world. I also think Mayim that you understand that. Never in the news have I seen you sporting some outlandish home, car, personal possessions. I have never seen you on talk shows (not that I watch them much) bragging about trips to Martha's Vineyard or the Riviera. You obviously have the means to dd that, but are still down to earth as a human being. Of course you really can't know someone just from on screen appearances and TV shows. But from the information I do see regarding you, you have earned my respect.

    The Peace of Wild Things” - Wendell Berry
    When despair for the world grows in me
    and I wake in the night at the least sound
    in fear of what my life and my children’s lives may be,
    I go and lie down where the wood drake
    rests in his beauty on the water, and the great heron feeds.
    I come into the peace of wild things
    who do not tax their lives with forethought of grief. I come into the presence of still water.
    And I feel above me the day-blind stars
    waiting with their light. For a time
    I rest in the grace of the world, and am free.

It's totally OK to just read a book or do some yard work with no particular goal in mind, right now. Keeping a schedule can be very helpful, but maybe it's a good time to LET GO of deadlines and not put pressure on yourself. I understand how you feel. I'm a polymath, also, and collect degrees and certifications. It's sometimes hard for us to stop! But it's OK to take this time and just..... be. Take a nap. Binge watch a show. Breathe. Stretch. It's also a good time for any kind of hobby that requires you to use your hands! Being creative and building or making something can be very relaxing. Take care.
