Back In The Day, Wilt Chamberlain was able to Drop 100 Points wearing Converse cause back then, Converse was Built Better like the remake of Converse 70s.
Correction: converse became popular in the 60s and early 70s, until Adidas arrived with the superstar and then with the forum but that's where the air force one comes in.
Same. All the 14 pairs I have that I have collected from 2009-now don’t have this feature. Btw, I am australian which confirms this isn’t a aussie thing 😂
Short answer: yes because converse were originally designed for athletes thus why they have holes on the sides٫ its so that the shoes are more breathable #speedrunningshorts
at my middle school, they make you spit on an area in the floor n wipe the bottom of your shoes there, I can’t lie, it’s prob saved my life 200 times in basketball.
They are made to fold and not be cushioned because they where made for 1970s and before athlete that had much stronger feet. If you start using converse start slow then slowly strenghten your body. They allow better control but if you messup ( go too hard or land, run wrong you feel the pain immediatly )
Idk about basketball.. but I do sometimes wear them to the gym to my hiit classes.. I wear them with thick socks.. and it gives great stability and balance while working out..
They had stronger feet back then. They knew how to sprint and how to jog, using their toes to dig in instead of striking heel first. Walked a whole lot more, did more PE in school and didn't sit as much. Cushioned sneaker shoes first showed up in the running world, then came over to the basketball world in the late 80s as part of the sneaker wars. Once Jordan signed with Nike, the game was pretty much finished, now every sneaker of every kind had cushioned, which ironically made the average runner worse off because they started to heel strike instead of running in a balanced formed. I remember 1985 I got some converse basketball shoes, Magic Jordan models and took weeks to break them in, they were so rigid. Now you got shit that falls apart in 3 months.
Rolled my ankle with some Hoka running shoes on the court yesterday. All I got is some Converse All Stars right now, the ones with the extra padding. Gonna give them a test. Imma be the old guy with the old school kicks lol. Gotta be better than running shoes if they stood the test of time from the 70's and back.
Fun fact: before his nike partnership, Michael Jordan himself used to play in converses. Supposedly this is the reason why Jordan 1s dont have a thick sole like Air Forces, Jordan preferred thinner soles because he was more usedto them.
Aiight just played an hour of 21 on an outdoor cement court. My review is they prevent you from rolling your ankle! I got the high top ones with the extra padding. My only complaints is i did lose traction once and your feet will be sore after, not enough padding on the bottom. I was playing on an outdoor court so I trust your judgment that maybe on indoor wood you may slide around. I would say they are way better than a running shoe just because they prevent rolling of the ankle. Gotta wait for payday till i get a proper pair but they are ok if thats all you got to hoop in.
Fun fact: old basketball shoes were actually converse
