Why is blue raspberry a flavour? Raspberries aren't blue??
+Sandy Rief The flavor comes from a species of raspberry called "blue raspberries" because of the blue-black color of the fruit
en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Blue_raspberry_flavor
An ice pop maker already had a lot of flavors that were colored red, so they decided to make raspberry blue. Mental Floss actually has an article about it. m.mentalfloss.com/article.php?id=29273
+vwoxy1 this is kinda misleading as krampus said mental floss has an article on this, the species of raspberry that make the blue raspberry flavor is white and it is not called blue raspberry
Naturally the question pops up - can you artificially MAKE a song to become an ear-worm?
+DroidFreak36 I think it's pop music for many people because pop music is more common.
The songs that stay stuck in my head are mainly music from video games (I like historical strategy games - check Songs of Victoria II for example) and movies, and sometimes I don't know where it is from, but it's almsot never pop music.
Napishtim
Well, I'm just saying that pop music is designed to be catchy. Although a song becoming an earworm for you requires you listening to it a bunch, which typically only happens with songs you like.
I currently have a bunch of songs stuck in my head from the radio in fallout 4 lol
+Blind Eagle I've been listening to Radio Freedom since the classical station goes down with the institute and the other station isn't my ideal for adventuring since the songs are too catchy and I focus on them too much to focus on the game properly, and those songs are stuck in my head now all the time.
+Blind Eagle I get "I Don't Want to Set the World on Fire" stuck in my head every couple of weeks probably. Especially because they sometimes play it at Starbucks too....
+Blind Eagle I've had big iron from fallout new vegas stuck in my head for a week
"...had a big iron on his hip..."
"...big iron on his hip..."
very informative. thank you.
Great job
I love this show! So, here`s my question:
How come it is so easy for some people to fall asleep, while for others it`s a real struggle?
I mean, I know some people that fall asleep seconds after they put their heads on the pillow, but for me, it can take up to an hour to do it, even when I`m dead tired.
Thank you and cheers from Transylvania!
Now, I'm going to have "Carwash" stuck in my head. Thanks, Craig.
This episode was WAY TOO FUNNY 😂😂😂😂
"what are you offering are you offering is it free?" thanks Craig!!!
Why do we cook bacon and bake cookies?
+YAOES because raw bacon gives you trichinosis and raw eggs in cookie dough gives you salmonella ella ella ella ;)
and as for the cookies... *cookie monster voice* COOOOOOOOOKIIIIIIIIEEEEEEEEEEE
Why is it that I can sort of get an earworm? The whole song gets stuck in my head, and I can change the song that is stuck, but I cant not imagine one. Its weird, and happens at least 6-7 times a day.
Craig, I just wanna say... You're hilarious ^ u^
Uploaded 15 seconds ago, this is the earliest I've ever been.
when did balloons become a custom to birthday parties and celebrations?
i will often wake up with songs in my head that i haven't even heard in a while
I have a question! Why do some people become more tan naturally in the winter? I've noticed I tan up for a few weeks in the winter and it slowly goes away. Thanks
I sometimes remmember of a melody or a lyric from a song and until I hear it I won't be able to stop repeating it in my head endlessly. Is this an earworm too?
some time you just ..... lets it go
What determines your favourite colour?
I've been singing "Wheezy Waiter" to myself all morning after watching your last video; now I feel like you're just mocking me, sir.
The term "Ear worm" is unsettling.
Ironically, I opened CZcams to listen to a song that was stuck in my head and saw this first.
I had the song Ain't No Sunshine When She's Gone stuck in my head everyday for around 3 years starting back in 2009.
An Idea for an episode. Why is it that whenever you are lost in the woods for an example they say to always walk north? Is there a specific reason to specifically north?
This site is very interesting.
All I know is I turned on this video and wondered why you were singing my name. I was super confused until I saw the title of the video. I really need to pay more attention.
Now I have "Car Wash" stuck in my head, but that's ok, because I like that song.
Hey, I just met you, and this is CRAZY...
when do the bees sting and why
Craig cracks me up
Why do wheels that spin quickly one way look like they spin the other?
"Seriously, get out of my head." Get out of my head. Get out of my head...get out of my dreams, and into my car!
What's the difference from disc and disk
Keep the faith... Keep the fahahaith... Oh lord, you got to keep the faith! *riff playing in my head*
What is the best sport for you?
"In your head
In your head
Zombie
Zombie"
Reminded me of that
My ear wyrms go on for so long, that I get extremely nervous when I don't hear any music in my head at all.
Sometimes I will wake up with a song randomly stuck in my head (whether I like it or not) and I'll sporadically sing it throughout the day and it is just stuck there all day until the NEXT day when a new song pops up.
How about lines from shows or movies getting stuck in your head? Same principle? Because that happens to me more often than songs. Also bits of animation that I'll have to try and remember where they're from.
It's the final countdown...
I used to deliver papers to a guy named Tom Jones (not the singer) and I would be tormented by the song IT'S NOT UNUSUAL every time I got to his house. I am a musician and I deal with ear worms, which I get frequently, by learning the songs on guitar or piano. I find it helps a lot and it builds my repertoire.
I feel like I tend to get verses stuck in my head more often than the chorus. Like now I have the verse of Umbrella stuck in my head... thanks Craig. I wonder if the qualities of earworms differ for people who have studied in music (like myself) or for people who are professional musicians.
I have a question. Why are some people more ticklish than other people and some not at all? Does it have to do with pain tolerance?
When I get a song stuck in my head it's always the whole song, not just part of it. :)
Why does turning stuff off and on again work?
The worst earworm I ever suffered was Nothing but Flowers by the Talking Heads. I was stuck in my head for 2 months, nonstop to the point that I couldn't sleep because of it. I tried every cure in the book, including trying to get something else in there, but it kept coming back and drowning out everything else. I eventually succumbed to insanity and pounded my head against a wall singing it at the top of my lungs till I blacked out. The concussion worked, but I refuse to ever listen to it again for fear that I might have to lobotimize myself to make it stop next time.
The longest earworm though, was Sled Zepplin, which I had stuck in my head on and off for a year because I didn't know the title of the song, what the one it was based on was, or any of the words of either (there is no chorus), despite knowing that it was a Led Zepplin song (it was D'yer Maker by the way).
I always wake up with a song in my head, and it stays stuck in my head for at least 20 minutes. If I'm especially groggy, it's literally the only thing I can think about until I'm fully awake
I only like Mondays because of Craig
I get rid of an earworm by telling a co-worker about it and, therefore, passing it on
(muuhaha!)
i don't know anyone else who does this yet, but when I get a song stuck in my head/imagine hearing a song, I can hear every element of the song clearly- except for sometimes the lyrics. everyone I've asked seems to only get the vocals stuck in their head, or even themselves singing the vocals stuck in their head. does anyone else do what I do?
Are thumbs really fingers or something different?
Why do we have two channels run by two intelligent brothers that consistently tackle the same issues.... Wait. Lol welp, answered my own question. Btw youre both awesome
Years back, I got the "Viva Viagra" song stuck in my head for a solid week. Since then, whenever I get a song stuck in my head, it's really not that bad by comparison. I just go with it.
Are there homonyms in other languages?
Can't wait for the next video! Have always wondered why we sneeze in glare. I know it's somehow genetic but still not sure why it happens.
It's a world of laughter, a world of tears
It's a world of hopes and a world of fears
There's so much that we share
That it's time we're aware
It's a small world after all

There is just one moon and one golden sun
And a smile means friendship to everyone
Though the mountains divide
And the oceans are wide
It's a small world after all

Why do we squint when it rains?
Why do people say to drink lots of water after getting a massage?
Sooooo... What about waking up with an earworm? Happens to me almost daily: Step 1- wake up. Step 2- realize song stuck in head.
The song "A Horse With No Name," has always been my song scrubber. If I get an earworm I sing the chorus and it's gone. Strangely enough the second song doesn't stick around.
I get them more often when I'm sick.
I'm almost sure there is a very precise recipe for stuck-in-the-head songs. You only need to hear it repetitively.
Why do we use good evening as a greeting and good night as an expression of leaving?
Where do modern New Years celebration traditions come from?
I had Psy's "Daddy" stuck in my head yesterday.
I often get songs stuck in my head, to the point that I have developed the ability to Ccontrol my earworms. I can change songs at will, so if I get sick of one song, I just move on to another song. Nowadays, I almost always have a song stuck in my head. But I love music so it's okay.
brain flossed. ty.
dad didn't even know the term earworm so he thought I had an actually worm in my ear
Why do people have parting in thier hair?
What is the difference between wifi and Bluetooth?
I wake up with a song stuck in my head at least 4 times a week, but it makes sense since I'm surrounded by music. 😰
I heard if you know the end of the song thats in your head. You can sing that part in your head and end it. That should help get rid of your earworm.
I got a earworm that apparently hatched for years. Hadn't heard it for years and it just suddenly got stuck and started to annoy me.
Why is the inverse of sine called cosecant instead of just secant?
+Shoes It's because secant and cosecant are cofunctions, sumilar to how sine and cosine and tangent and cotangent are cofunctions. Basically, the function of an angle is equal to the cofunction of 90 minus that angle. The inverse is unrelated to the naming.
My earworm today is Tonight I'll Be Staying Here With You by Bob Dylan. And now I know why.
My recurring earworm pops in at odd times. It's the theme song from Indiana Jones. Maybe my brain fancies an adventure, or I want to pretend that any old activity could be an epic quest for something exciting.
I get words or sentences stuck in my head. Sometimes it's words that I don't even know the meaning of. For example the word "abercrombie" was stuck in my head for 3 days or so. I had no Idea what it meant.
Why is it better to leave the lights on rather than turning them off in some instances?
Now I have Craig stuck in my head....BAD...
Why does the day begin at midnight, and not, say, the dawn of the summer solstice? That would make more sense to me.
that explains why every time I walked past a photo studio in kmart that some jerkass decided to name "picture me" had me haunted by that damned tinman song in the wizard of oz. never failed. every. single. time.
[casually plays the Tetris tune]
Why can't I remember things that are important, but can remember things that don't need to be remembered?
How does a Salt Pig work?
Most of the songs I get stuck in my head are video games, lately from Undertale.
My current earworm is "Who Put The Stump" by Bob Rivers (a parody of Who Put the Bomp (in the Bomp, Bomp, Bomp) by Barry Mann)
Where did the tradition of putting out cookies for Santa originate from?
Here's a question I've been wondering about for a long while now:
If energy and mass are equal (as shown in Einstein's equation of E = MC^2), and heat is a type of energy, and if the universe has been cooling since the big bang, does this mean that the universe is gaining more mass? And if not, where is all the heat going?
The mental floss theme is such an ear worm.
Why and how do accents develop?
Why does ribbon curl up when you run scissors across it (for making curled ribbon). To make more sense of what I mean heres a picture:
images-na.ssl-images-amazon.com/images/G/01/electronics/detail-page/B002DHC6FA.02.300.jpg
+SonOfAKing That's an interesting one! Recently, ribbons are made of non woven material. Since it is not woven (think the ribbon on your hat), it can be "impressed" with tiny ridges that will make the ribbon curl when they are flattened. The scissor blade will flatten the ridge and the ribbon curls...on one side. If you try it on the other side of the ribbon, it will flatten out straight.
Why do we zone out ?
Why are shower temperature controls so touchy?
92% of people get an earworm at least once a week?! I literally have a song in my head at all times. Even if I don't notice it, a song is there in the back of my mind playing along on its own.
Women suffer for longer periods of time? Twice I've had a song stuck in my head, prominently so I'd be thinking about it regularly, for literally over a week straight. Thankfully, I loved the songs, and that may have helped since I liked them in my head and didn't try to get rid of them.
Literally me every single day.
+Micah Philson I once had a song stuck in my head for days on end, and I tried everything to get it out, but nothing worked. Even playing a different song on my piano wasn't enough! It eventually switched to another song, but in the meantime it was incredibly annoying.
