Hastings Pier is destroyed in a huge fire. Footage from 3:30am on 5 Oct 2010 Fire crew battle to hold back the fire by dousing the beginning of the pier with water.

I live near Horsham but today my wife and i visited Hastings just for a day out, obviously we had a long look at the pier and i cant explain the sadness i felt for this rusting hulk of iron, i dont know what happerned to those responsible for the fire but we hope they were punished as hard as the law would allow,our nearest seaside resort is Brighton, and as i am sure you will know one of its piers was also destroyed by some brainless moron, whats going on ? did they go to prison ? i hope so.

My nan and gramps used to live in st Leonard’s near the walls factory and we’d visit every weekend, trips to the pier I can remember like it was yesterday. Walks down the beach, via the back street has a small park with 2 swings and a saw that took you directly across to the pier. Is the golf course still there? So sad to think I’ll never be able to walk onto the pier with my kids how my nan and gramps did with me 😢
Hard to fight from Land. It looks like they needed a tug boat in the water spraying up directly into the fire at the end of the pier. Instead it just spread all the way along 😢
My dad is a police cusdidy sergent in hastings, and he say's it isn't half bad as other towns. It's because half the children being brought up these day's just cant keep there mouth shut, Like when I was walking my dog, minding my own buisness. and then these little children (about 8-9 years old) started swearing and shouting at me, That isn't right. is it? If the adult's/parents would raise there children with more respect then they may get more respect out of there children,

I am currently watching the news about them barely being able to keep the pier because of how expensive it is

the pier is still their just not how it used to be with arcades etc but the crazy golf is still there along with the stade a little further along
