- Second episode of Japan 2023, I visit a local arcade in the middle of Nagoya. This one has existed for many years and is still alive thanks to its loyal customers who come here every day.
Games being played are Steet Fighter 3rd Strike, Fatal Fury Special, King of Fighters, Vampire Saviour, and many more cool 2D fighters. As well as some early 3D fighting games like Fate: Unlimited Codes. Meaning lots of fighting games are popular at this very arcade.
But I also found some cool shooters like Twinkle Star Sprites and DoDonPachi.
Enjoy the tour of this old-school Japanese arcade!

Due to the popularity of this video, I decided to visit another Local Japanese Arcade called “Space Shuttle”.

Seriously, Japan is a retrogamer's paradise. One can walk into an arcade and stay there for hours and hours and hours, especially when it has 1000s of different games in it.
Oh yes! Its like coming home to a home you've never been to and immediately feel at home :D
do I have to know Japanese to go Japan?????
@@Gloryboyquan Of course not. But dont expect people to be speaking English!
@@Gloryboyquan Most local people do not speak English, even if they do, you don't expect to be able to understand their pronunciation😂
@chrisliu5460 so how df I suppose to get around and get hotel etc 🤔
9:40 Man it would be amazing to live 20 feet from that arcade.
Oh yes! I would be there everyday!
I could be there everyday and never get bored. Used to hang out in arcade back in early 2000's all the time when I was in my early 20's. It was a place where I can go and relax and not worry about what's going on in the world.
i prefer to hang out in men's toilets all day
@@happyjonn9242 shut up gay
I would quit my job and be there 8 hours a day.
Its the perfect place to hang out in, thats for sure.
@@CatzzBloxFamily Haha! Im sure you would miss your job after a while...
I'm so glad some old arcades still exist in Japan. Lived in Japan from 1991 to 2001, possibly the boom arcade years where there was a game center in almost every corner. These days they are mostly gone. Places like this is like traveling back in time.
Yea its amazing to see this. Wow what a time to live there. Must've been amazing. I can only imagine how amazing the arcade scene mustve been back then. Glad to hear that!
Warms my heart to see arcades still doing so well in japan ! This was my youth, miss those days ! Great video and content mate, subbed !
Thank you! Welcome to the channel. Makes me happy too. Hopefully some people will go there after seeing the video.
Also, new local arcade video coming this week, stay tuned :D
This is the type of arcade i want to go to when im in Japan. A musty arcade with a bunch of astro cabs and classic games. I could play Third Strike All day.
Oh yes! Local and 100% Japanese! Its so cool!
Third Strike is the kind of fighting game you can play forever! I need to go back and play against some Japanese people sometime.
Piece of history, congrats to the owner and punters that are keeping the place alive. I used to love going to the arcades during my high school years ! Street Fighter Third Strike and KOF 2002 ... so much money and hours put in those games !
Yea, awesome place. Hopefully it will be alive for many more years to come. And those games are timeless!
The sight of an amusement arcade sends pleasant shivers through me. I remember the smell still: a mixture of Mr.Sheen, bubblegum and cigarette smoke.
If I'm going to be picky, the cabinets looked a bit uniform, but that's of course to save space.
At the age of 43, I finally got into fighting games.
Incredible. Love reading this. You're spot on with describing the atmosphere :D
Glad you could finally appreciate fighting games. Its my number one genre now as an adult.
Its great to see all these machines still on working conditions after all these times.even though i never visited japan, its so nostalgic for me. Thank u man
Japanese people are the best at taking care of things. Its in their culture. Thanks for watching!
Lot of nostalgic vibes coming and all types of character coming from that arcade. Great Video. Ill have to check it out next time im in Nagoya.👍
Oh yes! Very authentic atmosphere in there.
You definitely should :D
Japan is so damn cool!! I'll live there one day. 😢
Coolest country in the world! I hope you reach your dream one day!
sees a few people playing games in a retro arcade. "japan is so damn cool!"
😂
Japan to me would be a cool place to visit but I wouldn’t live there.
@@freemokeraines2121 not me tho ill live there owo
Awesome I miss the old school arcades...
Yea, me too! This is how it should look like!
and to think about the epic duels that those machines have made possible in their long years, I really miss going to an arcade and fighting against an unknown guy, it's a great adrenaline rush, now I play street fighter 6 online, but it's just not the same...
Oh yes. And many professional players have been using these cabs. The history that this arcade place carry is amazing!
And yes, online will never be the same...
Wow all of those vintage cabs still in use that is amazing. Loving those old blast city cabs. Great to see some Neo Geo, CPS2/3 in action in the wild! I was in Japan a few years back and often you would see the older games alongside the modern stuff.
It is truely amazing to see an arcade like this still alive. A time machine back into the 90's. Hoping to get one of these Blast City cabs. They look really cool. And yea, the bigger arcades in Japan are removing more and more of the older ones for new ones. At least theres still a few places like this left. Just recorded another old arcade!
glad to see there are still places like this, when i went to tokyo in 2019 i searched all through akihabara but couldn't find any
Yea they are getting harder and harder find. These authentic arcades. But I did find another one that I just filmed. Stay tuned :D
素敵なゲーセンだね
20年前はこのようなゲーセンが沢山存在したが、今では見なくなった
I'm listening to the sound of the arcade, something that vanishes over time.
Youre right. Lets keep it as long as its possible.
I love these classic arcades in Japan. I can't go past them. I always go in and play.
Same here! Always stoked to check out new arcades in Japan! :D
As i was on my way home after work, first place i went was home. Because there wasnt any arcade center for me to enjoy after work like japanese did
Haha yea totally feel this!
I would pick any day of the week the Arcade before places like the cinema!
Love an old retro arcade, and this one looks fun! Hope I can go there someday! Another great video, Adam!
Yea man, great atmosphere in here. People seem friendly too. I could tell some of them were trying to talk to me. I should go back and play a game against them. Thanks Mark!
There are arcades everywhere, i cant imagine moving back to the UK where you're lucky to find a crane game.
Plus I meet so many people!
Glad to hear you enjoy Japan! :D
Thanks! Childhood memory for sure, all these old arcade machines is gone in Singapore.
Awesome! Thanks for watching! Oh really!? Thats sad. Im filming these place to make people aware of them. Let them live!
Good stuff I'm a software engineer my dream is to buy a house in Japan and walk to an arcade and play games I will make it happen. Thanks for the video.
Thanks for watching, Matt! Glad you liked the video!
I believe in you too! You can do it!
My dream is to have a voluptuous beauty in a passionate LTR.
I think the arcade one is more attainable...
If you r not japanese. Suggest to just buy an arcade machine instead
Expensive. And you would get bored of that soon.
Ignore the hate comments. Go do it, it's better to pursue a dream than nothing at all. I'm a software engineer too and I have a dream to buy an arcade cabinet of SF2/Third Strike some day :)
That's dope that they've got 3rd Strike there. Man, I haven't played that game in ages. So many childhood memories of it.
Yea! When you think about it... 3rd Strike holds up well today compared to many other retro fighters. Such a great game!
This was truly enjoyable to watch, I wish I had a arcade like that near by to spend a Friday evening
Awesome! Thanks for watching!
Yea its an amazing feeling walking into this Arcade. A few guys tried to talk to me after I turned the camera down.
Seeing this make me miss arcades even more 😢
Oh yes! We need to keep these places alive!
Great place to hang out on a Friday night with some friends! I love street fighter 3rd strike!
Oh yes! Its perfect! 3rd Strike is the type of fighting game you can never get tired of!
I'm showing my age but I remember when Arcade cabinets had built in ash trays. This takes me back .
Haha Yea Ive seen that too. Everyone was smoking in Japan during the 80s.
wish i could own one of these old school Astro City Arcade cabinets, they are the perfect size.
100% agree! They are so cool looking as well. Im hoping to get it one day too.
This place is like the remains of the old century and set in a very dystopian future
Dark philosophy, lol
Haha well said my friend! There is reason I had to film this Arcade! Just saying!
My dream life is going to arcade to play rhythm games or gundam on my way home after work.
Nice! They are very popular in Japan! People are crazy good at playing!
Man Congratulations on the filming I really liked this Arcade Japan is the birthplace of electronic fun.
Thank you! Glad you liked it. I just filmed another old Japanese arcade here in town. Stay tuned :D
My kind of place. Thanks for the video
Awesome! Thank you for watching!
How beautiful is this place, as if you are living the beautiful past.
Right!? Its like walking into a time machine!
these arcade cabinets and arcade style sticks and 6 buttons layout is how i grew up with in fighting games, now you see 6-8 button layouts, different types of sticks...
Yep. I prefer the 6 button style. 8 is not needed really imo.
I’m really glad Round 1’s been bringing over some of their Nesica Live cabinets to the US. Even if there’s only a couple cabs, they’ve got a really wide variety of old games as well as some indies such as Skullgirls and Akatsuki Blitzkamf. Really disappointed my local Round 1 doesn’t have any, and the fighting game section it did have shrunk dramatically since it opened.
Ive never played Akatsuki Blitzkamf but it looks awesome...
@@RetroMoments Blitzkamf is PC freeware and the arcade version can be emulated with online multiplayer via Flycast + Fightcade, I definitely recommend giving it a try. There's a lot of depth and room for mastery, but it's a mechanically simple game that's easy to pick up and start playing. Also you can play as a tank.
Nice and different scene. As always great video! 💯
Thanks man! Glad you enjoyed it! Get ready for some big game hunting videos next!
wow arcade still exist today, it was fun in the 90s
Oh yes. But Japan used to have a lot of them. Now theres just a few left! So I wanted to support the ones that are left!
Every City needs one.
I stand behind this a 100%!
I believe a player called NMT got the twinkle star sprites world record on that cabinet
Really!? Thats very cool information! Thanks!
Ohh some good old memories.. Thank you
Glad to hear that! Thank you for watching 😃
Oh my gosh! This place looks like heaven!!!
Its heaven on earth!
@5:15
when you get to a place like that, love seeing the unorthodox
Haha oh yea, I agree!
Absolutely beautiful my friend. Here in my country places like this are fading away unfortunately.😞
But great video men, thanks.
Thank you. Glad you liked it! Which country are you from? Always interesting to hear.
Stay tuned for more arcade videos. New one coming today :D
Used to go to Arcade in the late 1980s and early 1990s (exactly between 1986-1997). Good old days.
Good old days never die.
Bring back the old days, when I was six in 1996 that's my first time visit Japan. I remember the hype of Kof 1996
Wow! That must've been cool to see. KOF96 was huge. A big leap after 95 with faster gameplay, cooler combos and better pixelart!
@@RetroMoments yes, I saw the poster and billboards everywhere at subway, gamestore, etc. Damn that was so cool, Im still remember the ambience and the artwork is awesome
What a time to be there. So cool. Would've been great to find some footage of Tokyo back then.
This is an example of a video, that you can smell... 😅😅😅😅 I miss the old days ❤️❤️❤️
Hahaha Im glad you said that :D I wanted the video to be as authentic as possible. Oh yea the good ol days
aweeeeeeeeeesome video! KOF by NEO GEO was very famous here at Sao Paulo - Brazil! good times. thanks for the video
Thank you Alex :D
Fantastiskt! Fullsmockat med härliga spel och CRT
Eller hur! Fantastiskt att se detta! Speciellt eftersom jag själv älskar fighting spel!
Great video mate 😊
Thank you my friend 😃
Haven't been to this one yet but in Akihabara there are alot of awesome arcades. I love Japan! Awesome video!!!
Oh yea! If you are in Akihabara you should visit HEY and Mikado! Amazing arcades!
@@RetroMoments I think I've been to mikado. Haven't been to HEY yet. Thanks for the recommendation!
@@jinkazuya22 Cool! Definitely give a visit to HEY as well. You wont be dissapointed!
Looks awesome😮
You know it is! Authentic arcade in Japan. Not many left now...
Man miss my childhood days enjoying arcade games😅
Yea meeting up friends, hanging out at the arcade. Awesomeness!
yea the perfect place to game so authentic
Yep! Doesnt get better than this!
Theres a bar/arcade in my area in the USA that has these japanese style blast city cabinets. Theyre so legit but the people have broken the joysticks and buttons on the two machines I used. I fired up Street Fighter 3, 19xx, and Gigawing. The screens looked amazing.
Yea the Blast City cabs are awesome. We have them at the arcades in Europe as well, with the same issue as you just said xD
And guess what... In Japan the sticks are perfect on most of them.
Dude, only ¥50 to play the classics! I would have started at Street Fighter Zero/Alpha 3 and made the rounds finishing with the CAVE shooters. Q Box is the type of joint to spend with the most devout of gamer friends. Cheers!
Yea I was so surpised to see this too haha. Seems like theres really friendly people in there too. I might go back and ask if someone wants to play some Street Fighter :D
The CAVE shooters in the video are:
DodonPachi Daioujou
DodonPachi Daifukkatsu
Mushihime-Sama Futari
Those are tough shooters (for beginners of course). Saw the "Daioujou" one in my local arcade, and also my brother played the PS2 port of it.
It's a six minute walk from Nagoya Station, which makes it a great choice if you're coming from outside of Nagoya via Shinkansen.
Yes, its pretty close to Nagoya Station! Have you been here?
Yeah a drink and this place for a night would be chill, just for a night…
Just a night? Are you sure about that?
Wished i had this back home honestly the games they got is mostly freaking crane game japan gets all the fun stuff XD
Believe me, all the fun things can be found in Japan!
This is just magic!
Right! Doesnt get better than an authentic Arcade from Japan!
@@RetroMoments I'm saving up some money for my trip there next year with my family, had to skip this year's vacation for that, really hope I can make it!
It worth it! Good luck!
The good old days ❤️...
You know it!
very bring back memories
Love hearing that! Enjoy!
Literally paradise on Earth
You got it!
I love this arcade!
Me too!
Dude. . . I know it´s not about this particular thing but man, those are some clean streets, like god damn!
Haha oh yea. I've actually mentioned that in a previous video. It really is amazing. Whats more amazing is that there are no trash cans. Meaning its in the culture to carry around your trash.
I swear I had a dream being in a place like this multiple times. I don’t know why.
I know why! Because you need to get to one :D
My childhood i can cray why i played in arcade in 1990
Oh yes. The prime time!
Cool arcade, would be nice to go to after you have worked a whole day :)
Doesnt get more authentic than this! 😃 Perfect way to end the evening, for sure!
If you've been working on a computer all day then maybe not, lol
@@therealavolpe I work with computers all day, would still go there :)
@@nesfrk
Ok that's great, but many people in that situation would prefer to give their eyes a break, me included ;-) (although I would definitely go on the weekends!)
that one game was "Street fighter alpha 3" the one where you said that you didn't know the name of this game! good to see the arcade scene still strong in Japan. Arcades are basically dead and extinct in USA! on another note, Dreamcast is still actually popular in Japan and they keep producing bootlegs for Dreamcast still til this day! ( for Japan that is)
I have that on Switch as well, and the PSP version called Alpha 3 MAX
Yea I noticed when editing the video, but thanks :D Oh yea, its not as strong as in the 90's of course. But Im glad its still going. Oh yes, love the Dreamcast and thats also something that brings a smile to my face.
I also want to make another correction. In Japan, this game is called Street Fighter Zero 3. In Japan, it was known as the Zero series, but in USA was known as the "Alpha" series. They are both the same identical games, just different name versions for the specific region.
This one of the places I would like to visit if I go to Japan next year.
Love to hear that. You definitely should!
Big Respect !!!
Thanks for watching! More arcade videos soon :D
Some video games i stil play on my ps4 very missing the old days
Nice! Its a great thing they release older games for newer consoles. Some of these games are timeless.
Wonderful!
Glad you liked the tour, Vincent :D
Thanks for the video, looks close to my ideal arcade. As you said you didn't recognise Street Fighter Zero 3 (a.k.a. Street Fighter Alpha 3), I'd recommend you give it a go next time you have a chance, it's a fun game, worth looking up some combo videos to get a feel for it.
Thanks for watching! Glad you enjoyed it!
Yea, I did see it was Street Fighter. Just wasnt sure which version as I have never played Alpha 3. Just Third Strike. I will definitely give Alpha 3 some time later on. Thanks.
i miss this part of my childhood
Good thing there are arcades that still exist!
I can only imagine the backpain you will experience, after sitting for a few hours on that stool :D
Haha yea! Important to take breaks in-between! Good thing you can socialize. People are really friendly there!
never forget our childhood even though the era is modern as it is today because we won't be able to go back to that time again
We wont be able to go back in time no, but playing older games on original hardware certainly brings the nostalgic feelings to its full potential.
This brings me back to early 2000's to 2015's in the Philippines, damn I miss my local Arcade. Now it's all bunch of Pachinko machines.
Oh thats sad. But I guess thats where the money is nowdays in the Philippines... Hopefully you have some arcades somewhere...
@@RetroMoments we still have local arcade place here in the philippines like timezone. but you'll only see them inside the mall. in what i have observed, tom's world are the only running chain of arcade place here that still have old arcade cabs. sadly they are poorly maintained...
I see. I will look up Timezone and Toms World. I am curious to see what it looks like.
I would never see the sunlight again 🥲🤩
Haha tell me about it 😃
Later on, I found Fate: Unlimited Codes for the PS2 that I bought.
Have you played this game?
Capcom all stars : code holders ???
I've played the PSP version. It's so~~ good. I don't know it's good or not as a fighting game since I'm not a fighting game expert. But as a Fate series fan, it's a must try.
I LOVE FIGHT GAMES

Just found this video now. Live in Inuyama. The small game center near my house closed down thanks to COVID. I used to go to the one in Sakae before they got rid of all the retro games. Where exactly is this game center?? Would love to go and give them my business!!
We got to keep places like this alive at all costs!
People say the location in the comments, just read through them ;-)
Oh which one did you used to go to?
This is very close to Nagoya Station actually. You walk west about 15-20 min from the station.
Reminds me of those underground HK TV Game centres.
Oh yea! Japanese people keep it authentic.
This place looks like heaven.

You should! :D
Time flies, i used to think wanna come to japan to experience the latest arcade game Gundam vs Gundam maxi boost, but i just don't know where to find this arcade game, it's a very fun game to play.
You know? Sometimes i think it's better to play fighting game in a real arcade machine than our modern console playstation or PC.
Oh I see Maxi Boost everywhere still. I just recorded another local arcade here in Japan. They had Maxi Boost. Stay tuned for that video!
Oh definitely! Its way better playing with proper sticks and a machine that was built for a specific game.
would love to have one of those arcade machines to put some games on and play with my (zero) friends in my area
Me too! Oh its arcade games. You could play with anyone. Even your neighbour :D
very interesting to see all of the arcade machines are in English. Japanese people have fully embraced the language it seems.
Yea, I agree. Usually, Japanese people are fine with having menus in English. Its been like that since the late 80s.
wow, an actual sfv arcade machine.. i didn't even know they made these! thats pretty cool. I would assume they also have a SF6 arcade too, although, i don't know how it would work with DLCs.
Oh yes! Its awesome! I would love to find the SF6 arcade if possible now...
