  • Francis Chan was educated at the Calvinist John MacArthur's Masters Seminary, but these days he's emerging from his cessationist cocoon and spreading his wings to fly in the realm of the Spirit. This video is about his journey over the past few years which has taken him into the Charismatic world where he has witnesses supernatural signs and wonders.

I'm Rod Saunders, founder of Jew and Greek. I’m a musician, web developer, and a student of philosophy and economics. I recently published my first book on Amazon entitled Defending the Faith: Word of Faith Apologetics. It’s a response to the numerous charges against and misrepresentations of the Word of Faith movement and theology. I also have a CD of original music on CD Baby entitled Gates of Pearl. “Jew and Greek” is a good name because the two civilizations that influenced Western civilization the most were those of the Judeo-Christian and Greek worlds. From the Jews we received our values and a monotheistic theology, and from the Greeks we got philosophy which brought us science, sports, the arts, democracy, and economics. As a result I discuss all of the above in this blog and in my videos.

Believing the Bible, not just from a theological standpoint , but from an application standpoint! Well, said, brother, well said. I have discovered that in my years of theological training the application standpoint of my walk has weakened somewhat. I'm not saying it's because of the training, just that when I become more skilled in the brain and delivery, I rely on that too much, and tend to let the priority of application slip; and application is really the mark of a disciple. Thanks for the reminder, Rod. Also, I have watched several of Chan's videos and testimony - wow, God is doing amazing things in and through him. And yes indeed, let us pray that he will be protected and guided by the Holy Spirit. Amen.

It's always amazing to me how much time and effort is spent from the 'reformed' camp to explain why the Bible doesn't mean what is simply says as written and inspired. But rather they want so desperately to convince people God needed a Calvinist to come along hundreds of years later to tell everybody what he "meant" to say. 5yrs ago I had a brother in Christ who has become a Calvinist and a cessationist after being saved over 40yrs ago in an substantial Assembly of God church. He sent me one of Francis Chan's videos to support his arguments... I wonder what he's thinking today🤔... It's also true that popular Church of Christ pastor/author Max Lucado now prays in tongues, as does Francis Chan.

"we should concentrate on better things 🕊🕊"
Sadly it seems that some people don't have any better things in their life to concentrate on.
We see the same in scripture were the scribes, Pharisees and Sadducees had nothing better to do than try to find fault with Jesus. They failed, so resorted to lies so they could get HIM crucified.

    • @onesimustim8424
      @onesimustim8424 Před 4 lety +2

The people who make heresy hunting videos spend far too much time trawling through the words and actions of others, with the specific intention of finding a perceived error to exploit so they can "expose" people who don't believe the same way they do.
Does that seem similar to something you may have read?
"... the scribes and the Pharisees began to assail Him vehemently, and to cross-examine Him about many things, lying in wait for Him, and seeking to catch Him in something He might say, that they might accuse Him ..."
Some people might point to Jesus' harsh rebuke of the Pharisees and Sadducees as justification of their own harsh judgments upon ministries they are determined to expose as false.
However Jesus did not go looking for false teachers and prophets to rebuke and expose, He only spoke out in harsh judgement against those who were continually, publicly, opposing Him and the work of the Father that He was doing, empowered by the Holy Spirit.

I say "apparent" refutation because the rambling nature of the comment and its random quoting of out of context scripture (KJV of course) makes it difficult to determine what exactly is being said.
This seems to be an increasingly frequent, seemingly coordinated thing from a variety of unconnected sources. Where could the coordination be coming from?
Despite your claims, I say Jesus the Messiah is the Son of God, He is the Word of God, He IS God.

Yes, there is something. I honestly believe that if someone is praying for healing, but they've ever come into agreement with cessationist theology, that they need to confess and renounce it and break that tie with unbelief.
There is something else though, and I'm really not sure what it is. I used to volunteer in a prayer ministry where we prayed for healing. We did see people healed, but not everyone. There was something we were missing, it was almost like I could see it.
Craig Keener, who has a two-volume work on miracles, said once in a video that a friend of his who prays and sees healing all the time in other countries prayed for Keener's headache to go and nothing happened. He said, "It doesn't work here because . . . " and then didn't finish the statement.
Because what? Jesus didn't heal everyone who was sick in Israel . . . but he healed everyone who came to him. The same with Paul in Acts. Why could Keener's friend see effective prayers in one location and not another?

When I got into the reformist camp, I remember watching a church vehicle approaching another church with different doctrinal views. The vehicle was that of a very charismatic church and the other Pentecostal AOG. I thought hmm wondering why they are going there? And I heard in my spirit, that’s what I’m doing, reconciliation. It almost felt like God was baffled by my questioning. I didn’t realize how much I had let my view harden my heart. I don't see nor hear anything he said or done which is scripturally wrong. Why judging from afar a brother who is manifesting the same healings and miracles Jesus Christ has done while here in earth. Did not Jesus said that believers will do greater things than which He did? Let us not attack another brother but rather pray for them and that God continues to anoint him to do more

Yikes. He’s been bitten by the EXPERIENCE GOSPEL. We were in the charismatic movement for years and didn’t know the scriptures at all, therefore we had no CONTEXT for what we were told to believe. We were laying hands on people and they would say, “yah, I guess my legs better?” “Oh good, you’re healed, next.” They weren’t true healings like Jesus and his apostles did. Now that we are in the scriptures and finally have understanding in context what the healing gifts WERE for, its a relief to know GOD is the one who heals IF HE CHOOSES. Its not me trying to make something happen. It was exhausting thinking it was all up to me to be just like Jesus and do everything he did. Well, I haven’t walked on water and Im thinkin probably never will cause Im not Jesus. And Im at peace with that. Finally. I’m praying Francis Chan doesn’t get completely lost in the false gospel of the New Apostolic Reformation.

So you're saying that those kids said "yeah I guess I can hear now"? People who are led by experience usually end up cessationist because they don't see anything happen. You have to be taught cessationism because the natural reading of the scriptures says that God does miracles always. Francis' own testimony confirms that.

Signs and wonders bear witness of the gospel message so that unbelievers may come to know Him, not so that believers can have a signs and wonders party. It is interesting to note that the two generations witnessing God's power first hand still failed to fully trust Him. The generation in Exodus were stiff necked just like the generation during the time of Jesus. More people have come into relationship based on the account of the eye witnesses recorded in the Word of God than having witnessed signs and wonders.

@@ernestoybarra7333 well first I live in Va. I don’t attend Bill Johnson’s church. Second, let’s stick to the topic of this video. Chan is sharing about preaching Jesus to these villagers. He then says they prayed. People got healed. If this is false teachings, then most of the New Testament is false. It just didn’t matter what I believe or you at that point. They believed it. They did it, it’s in there and it worked. How you are I account for it is the point. Chan is product of John MacArthers seminary. John teaches that slavery is morally ok if you have a good master. Does everyone agree with that’s now? See we can play the whos a bigger heretic game. But instead let’s go this way. We love Jesus first. We study and know who God is thru his word. We use that knowledge to humbly seek God and serve him. We love our enemies. I’m in the Jesus camp, I’m following him. You don’t know me and my life after I found Christ. Chan is just one man doing his part the best he sees fit to serve Christ too.
Ron’s video is about that interesting truth. That’s what this is about. Truth. Those that hear his voice follow him, we are his sheep. Him being god. Thru the power of the holy spirit we are lead, he takes us where we go and we humbly obey.
I’m not Chan, but I’ve learned one thing about him I love. He loves Jesus. Anyone who loves Jesus is worthy of listening too. That’s who I’m picking up my cross to follow and love. Jesus.
A wise man once said, if you have a problem with someone, pray for them to the point of tears of love for them, before you condemn they publicly. Otherwise your just acting out of your own will and power against them. You’re not seeking God for them, you just want to vent. I don’t mind you venting on me. I love you either way. You’d be amazed at what Gods done in my heart. You may even like Jesus in me too. Hope you have the best day ever.
