      @@Labyrinth1010I think rubber soul motivated Brian to work harder I don’t it inspired him on how to make music the way that beach boy music helped inspire sings like back in the ussr. If anyone inspired Brian it was Phil Spector. Otherwise by himself Wilson matched all of the creative output of the Beatles and The Beach Boys should be known now as the greatest band. Brian got sick and the Beatles were just better positioned for that era as a hippy group. All of that helped them and they got point for being British. Wilson had some help with lyrics and things but was the majority of the creative ability for The Beach Boys while the Beatles had Lennon McCartney Harris’s and one of the biggest music producers in the world at that time and Brian still outsold them in their own country with pet sounds.

    • @ComeAlongKay
      @ComeAlongKay Před 4 měsíci

      @@Labyrinth1010 I think Brian was inspired by Spector but was such a creative talent himself that even Gershwin stopped to take notice. The Beach Boys vocal harmony was also better than the Beatles and they were also inspired by that to some degree. I think the Beatles took radically more from The Beach Boys while Brian was msotly inspired by Phil Spector. Be My Baby was most likely a way bigger influence on his music than any Beatles song. He thought the Beatles were good so it inspired him to keep making good music while the Beatles took the actual arrangement style and sole cues from the vocal harmony of The Beach Boys.

    This is one of my favorite movies of all time. It is by far the greatest music biopic, is highly original and yet insanely underrated. The performances are absolutely spot on. The story of cutting between young Brian with Paul Dano and older Brian with John Cusak works so surprisingly well. I also love how authentic and true to real life it was! They shot the making of Pet Sounds in the same studio that Brian Wilson actually produced it in!! The location of his house at the end is the real location of Brian’s childhood home. The scene of them partying in the backyard in Brian’s Wilson’s house was in the same neighborhood as the actual house. This movie doesn’t get enough praise.

      As someone who generally doesn’t like musical biopics, you are completely right! It’s totally underrated and no one really talks about it but it told the story masterfully and blended the two timelines perfectly! When they first announced this film I was skeptical, because I didn’t see Cusack as Brian, but he turned in a great performance as an older version of Dano’s Wilson. It all came together so well, and the way the music was incorporated is unparalleled!

    Love & Mercy was a very good film, but I swear I’ll never understand why the director decided he needed both Paul Dano - who in the film, actually resembles a young Brian Wilson in both look and mannerisms, and John Cusack, who doesn’t, and (in my opinion…) brought the film down with an uneven and unsettling performance of the artist’s recovery period.
    Using 2 different actors just seemed like a really odd decision, especially since Dano was exceptionally good as Brian, and Cusack just didn’t “hold up” as the older, emotionally damaged Brian…
    Had they stuck w/Dano for the entire role, it would’ve made so much more sense. The film desperately needed the consistency of 1 actor throughout the entire “life of Brian…”
