    The advantage of these were the simplicity, less to go wrong and easy to fix if it does. But now they are getting more electronics and advanced.

      Trying to compete a bit more with FATTRUCK with all their due-dads my guess. A bit more luxurious version for guys who got/want it like Kayne West(for leisure). I believe they are still going to maintain selling the original version which is still the better way to go when using it for actual work.

      @@sterlingskeoch-allison1093 It'd be nice if you can get this newer larger frame and all the physical upgrades but keep the simpler mechanicals. No idea if they offer such a package though. It might not be worth the hassle of redesign when they could just sell you the old model as it exists.

    • @robashton8606
      @robashton8606 Před 3 lety +8

      Agreed. I think if they're going to put all the tech on these, then it's important to have the original mechanical/analogue systems still there underneath as redundancies. I'm sure the hydraulic clutch is nice to have, but the old school cable set up should still be there for when something leaks.

      Well electronics have proven them self's to be more reliable in many ways plus it can work without it too. Only benefits nothing to loose plus they give all the spare parts in bag and quickly replaceable. Same with hydraulic they probably over built it so it can withstand anything plus they give spare lines, oil, connections etc.

I can't Firefight anymore due to injury, but I can drive one of these, load it up with first aid and medical. • @888johnmac
      @888johnmac Před 4 lety +5

      yeah , the old one could hold fuel in the wheel hubs .. it lowered centre of gravity & with all hubs & main tank filled the range was 1500km ( IIRC )

      If you never put fuel in them, you can hall fresh water in there instead. I have a Rokon that I can haul water in the tire rims.

    While this is a big step up from the old Sherp, I wonder if the old one is more 'Maintainable' in the places where there are no facilities ? Cables and the like you can 'Jerry- Rig' where if you have a hydraulic seal blow, you are stuffed with out replacement fluid, even if you can replace the blown seals, which is debatable. Bit like the Mk 1 Range Rover designed as a farmers car, Vs the "Chelsea tractor" that it has become :-(.
