    Goes to show you what you can do to a car for just a few dollars to turn a really clapped out beater into something decent. Car looks so much better. And that garden trim and rain gutter stuff honestly looks pretty legit as well! Great job on that paint as always. My youngest brother has a pretty worn 95 Dodge I may have to have you shoot some paint on.

    It's funny how people say you can't paint your car with rattle cans. Back in the day cars were painted with single stage paint just like what's in those rustoleum cans. So yes you can paint your car this way. It's all about spraying skills.

    Use polishing compound on the glass itself to remove anything like what you are seeing on the sunroof. I thought it was crazy as well. Try it out with a buffer or soft cloth and elbow grease and see for yourself. It also saves you a lot on wipers if it is your windshield because it makes the glass smooth as all hell and makes water bead off of it pretty fast. Saw it on another channel and thought I would try it out on my own vehicles. Works

    • @sinformant
      @sinformant Před 4 lety +1

      Lacquer is a single stage clear, it doesn't have the good characteristics of 2k clear. It will fade alot faster and chip much easier than 2k, also lacquer clear doesn't have uv inhibitors in it to prevent the paint from fading. There may be some out there with a uv inhibitor but I dont think the stuff in a can does. 2k will maintain a gloss for a long time. Lacquer will dull up much faster. But im not expert painter, just painted a few things. Also most lacquer clears aren't chemical resistant like 2k is. So gasoline and other things can stain and dissolve it. I can speak from experience that when I painted my bike I used a good 2k clear and trying to remove it with aircraft stripper it didn't react at all. I had to gouge the paint down to the basecoat to get the aircraft stripper to do anything.

    • @JamesDguy
      @JamesDguy  Před 4 lety +2

      Oh my i feel stupid i know what a lacquer is LOL i used it on my Lime green dodge neon it don't require hardener so its a 1K paint or 1 part. It does ok for temporary clear coat. I prefer the 2k clear over it though.

      U dont always need primer. If ur paint is in good shape and u only want to change the color you canvwet sand it with 600 and paint right over the old paint. Primer is for filling in deep sanding scratches made by something like 80 or 180 grit wich is used to mske repairs or shape and sand body filler ( bondo)

Do you have a video on certain details like “if your painting a stripe” or “these certain colors need a base coat of X if your going from dark to light/visas versus” ( like a black car going for yellow/bright color). Thanks in advance and can’t wait to see more videos.
