Kyrie is a great handler and finisher, but his numbers don't suggest he's worthy of any "best ever" praise, and he's yet to lead a team to anything.

It wasn’t best player ever, to be fair. It was most skilled ever. Dribbling, shooting from 3, mid range, the ft line and finishing at the hoop in a number of ways. It’s footwork, moves and counter moves. That’s it. There’s more to being a great player than just skill. Size, and athleticism play a part. Competitive drive plays a part. Basketball intelligence (knowing when to use what skill when, when to score vs when to pass, off all movement, etc.) plays a part. Leadership, defensive intensity and durability all play a part.
There is more to game than numbers, and his numbers are excellent.
His numbers are skewed. He was almost done with the NBA for about 3 years

Career avg 27.3 (3rd all-time) in over 50% to Kyrie's 23.6 in 47% (which isn't bad by any means). Both are 39% from deep - good for a guard, amazing for a 6-9 (officially 6-11) forward. Similar from the line (88%) with KD getting there almost twice as much. KD obviously a much better rebounder. Kyrie with only a slight edge in assists (about 6 to 5 per game). And in the playoffs, Kyrie averages the same, while KD goes up to 29.3 per game.
