  • If you're hearing weird noises or feeling strange vibrations coming from your engine, it might be your transmission bearings. In this video, I replace all 4 bearings for the transmission shafts/axles on my Yamaha R6. It is technically a bottom end rebuild. If you need to replace your transmission bearings, do not use this as a "how-to" video, but only to increase your familiarity and confidence for the job. Linked below are some of the specialty tools I used throughout this video. Thanks for watching, and subscribe!

    This video has been a huge help! Rebuilding my Copart 2006 R6 and I really appreciate the camera quality and showing how everything came apart and went back together. Thanks man!

    I like that you are not backing down from a very ambitious and technical project like this - most people would lose their wallet or just trash the bike.
    This is not like a car repair because its two wheels and goes really fast and all you can do is hang on if something goes wrong.
    good job on the camera work and and keeping it interesting so we can follow along - I know its hard doing two jobs at once and then have to edit it all for us to sit back and just enjoy.... Keep it up bro! I'm digging it.

    Super video. Hopefully, it will give some people the courage to take on jobs like this, that they were afraid to tackle. I like your flip-over engine stand. Great idea. It would have saved me a lot of trouble when I replaced a 2003 R6 gearbox, and it will be a big help with future projects.

    You a Cold dude 🥶🥶🥶🥶🥶🥶🥶💯🦾💯 What I learned about my gear shift lever not staying into gear was the parts of this video of you installing that spring .... 🤔.... Thanks for everything plus on top of pointing me in the right direction to do that repair to my R6 😊🤝😊🦾💯.... You are awesome!!!!

    4:26 A lot of people think you have to pack the oil pump with petroleum jelly or something which just isn't true. Putting some oil in the pickup is totally fine. The clearances in the pump are so small that oil will have no problem sealing it up so it can prime.
    Love your videos, keep it up.

    Thank you for documenting this so clearly. I've got a 70k mi FZ09 and something tells me that sooner or later I'll be diving into replace bearings or something. A good video like this helps take that mystery out for the first timer.

    What were the symptoms of the bike which led you to think it was these bearings that were the problem? I have been trying to figure out where my vibration is coming from on my FZ1 and was thinking it may be bearings in the tranny or a gear itself is gotten bad. Thanks for the great video

    I am considering buying a r6 project for winter months. The owner says " it pops out of gear " ... I imagine it's bearings gone or gears broke. What was your parts cost on this bearing replacement ?

      @@TheMeek1000 It's in great shape for an 07! I needed a valve adjustment on my 07 and have gotten maaaaajorly into the R6 weeds as a result because I literally knew practically nothing about my bike or how it worked. Made a lot of mistakes doing the adjustment and now I need to drop the engine out, which is how I ended up finding your channel

      @@TheMeek1000 Thanks bro! After much patience and many learning mistakes, she purs like a kitten. What happened, though was as I was torqueing the cam cap bolts back down to spec, FIVE of them threaded. Five. Im going to helicoil them but don't have space for a drill to fit under the Triple tree so it'd probably easier to just drop the engine out and get the threads right then take the head off, buy a new Gasket and risk stripping the bolts that hold the head on.

    • @thematrix3431
      @thematrix3431 Před 3 lety

      I have two torque wrenches one manual and one digital so I sincerely doubt they are both so out of spec they ripped the threads out of the head. I think she is just an 07 bike that's been stored outdoors and the aluminum is now soft

    Hi just wondering when you put in the shift drum how do you know where you position the shift forks in the shift drum channels? Is there an indicator on the shift drum showing where the neutral position is on the shift drum?

    • @TheMeek1000
      @TheMeek1000  Před 3 lety

      Thats what it looks like to me. The head can stay on, but you can’t reuse the piston rod bolts after you remove them.

      Saw the manual of r6 2007 and r6 2008 they are little bit different specially on tightening the crankcase bolt 1-10. Do you tighten it first like 20nm then loosen it then tighten it to 25nm then loosen it then tighten it again to 27nm?
      The 2008/2016 engine has a different tighten procedure. You’ll need a degree tool. Im a little bit confuse 🥴
