Get your facts straight man. Apple pay was not the first technology to make it easy to pay for things on our phones. Google Wallet was.
+Johnny Martinez I used my Google Wallet Pay back in 2011 on my Galaxy S3 when NFC first came to mobile. I'm not sure where he gets his information from.

Actually, Google Wallet was first, years before Apple and iPhone even had NFC. In fact Apple made fun of NFC as being useless.

Haha I see how you think. I really don't care what apple or Google does.. For me it's where it started. Every story has a start. I love that. Without Google waller apple wouldn't have the idea. Without apps taking it and polishing it there wouldn't be a better Google wallet (android pay) and the new Samsung pay (which doesn't need nfc)

It's the WSJ, what do you expect? My uber conservative patents subscribe to the WSJ, but I find their reporting super biased and not always trustworthy when it comes to presenting all the facts.

In Australia Apple Pay works at any terminal that accepts pay pass, which is basically everywhere

oshawott98 3rd [third alt account] it's not that they don't support it. Samsung pay uses both technologies(NFC and MST) so if one doesn't work then the other one will and what I have found is that the signal gets read but it's what the clerk does with the signal. For example the Belk near where I live has the EXCACT registers that the Belk a few miles away has, yet it only works at one of those Belks.
Well, the things you mentioned (if electronically) like membership card well will be allowed to be added. I believe they mentioned that pretty clearly in the announcement. But will not be released before optimised and released world wide.
Even by the time, this video was released, we rarely used magnetic strip on cards in the shops. You either used NFC enabled cards + typing PIN if payment was above 500 CZK (~ 22 USD) or Apple Pay / other services (no PIN required) or old fashioned chip + entering PIN code everytime even if you paid few Czech Crowns :) I have actually never used magnetic strip in any European shop so far :)
Funny fact is that my internet banking app (mBank CZ) by default disables magnetic strip on their cards

Completely different story in Canada. Everywhere takes NFC, including mom-and-pop shops because of how accessible things like Square terminals are. I haven’t used my physical card in years.
Had to stop the video 5 seconds in because they were just completely wrong. Google wallet was out years before Apple Pay.
In 2018, in Germany, we don‘t have this problem anymore. A new law says, that every retailer needs to have a contactless terminal, when he offers paying by debit or creditcard.

R.I.P. MTS best magic trick that I used in store's ever that would make somebody's day and was super useful. For history's sake I used it at least 60% of the time I purchased with my phone which happened about 80% of the time I went to buy something.

Samsung Pay is the truth! It's so true even today many local merchants will look at you like a con artist or hacker when whipping out your phone to pay lol.

The funny thing is that at one of the places there's an NFC terminal. If that's the case why not hold the phone there? Samsung pay supports NFC and the magnetic strip
Frequently they won't be enabled... for whatever reason. Companies can disable people from using Apple Pay, but they can't stop me from using Samsung Pay!
RedLight GreenArrow I went yesterday to Kaiser Permanente and they had the machine with NFC symbol but they told me it wasn't working (she stated that apple pay didn't work), funny thing is that it worked with Samsung Pay and the lady was shocked.
Idk about other countries but here in Canada every store has a tap machine so we basically can use Apple Pay everywhere even in the smallest convenience market.
Not in the U.S. And the U.S is a huge market.

In China, install weichat and bind your credit card, you can use any smart mobile phone pay for anything in super market or resteraunt. No limitation for special phone type.

Samsung has NFC technology and magnetic strips reader technology. Two in 1. Other smartphone supports only NFC.
Still my grocery store accepts Apple Pay but not Samsung pay smh

Pretty much every merchant in Australia accepts contactless payments such as PayPass, PayWave and mobile payments. It's really nothing new to us. Why hasn't America gotten into the habit of inserting chip cards and tapping them as well while other countries have had it for years?
We do have chip cards and Samsung Pay is available everywhere except some banks and other small scanners

This is 3 years old. Today I use Google Pay all the time. Just unlock the phone, don't have to open the app.
Cpu z also show the magnetic sensor its good to have cpu z

I doubt that Samsung Pay is insecure since Samsung's security is acknowledged by the NSA. I also doubt, however, that Apple Pay works at 2% of stores in the USA.
and all mobile payment apps use the same encryption as a credit card. Knox is acknowledged by the NSA, so yeah.
