The film consists of two parts: popular scientific and science-fiction.
In the first part in the popular form the modern (1965) scientific convergence on the Moon are stated. In the second part the director and the artist create a picture of the future of the Moon.
Subtitles will be some day (russian subtitles for fragment Ver.II.2020).

I just love to watch soviet educational films! The voice is always so calm and peaceful, everything is explained to a very little detail and do not cause any headaches to understand. just outstanding!

The Soviets and Americans dreamed the same dreams. If only we could have worked together. We would be there now and even Mars.
On the contrary...:) That Race - gave our fathers and grandfathers additional motivation... :) Internet - became possible cause of the DARPA - and DARPA been created as an asset to help in Arms Race of Military ...Everything what happened during 20 century as Wars Cold or hot - gave us the needed ground for todays accomplishments. For instance Kluschantsev - who made effects for this movie - gave his ideas to hollywood and thus it influenced on special effects industry. who knows what would have been if there would not be any wars or conflicts or any kind of competition :)
Competition did get us to the moon, I acknowledge that but the cost of going to Mars is probably greater by an order of magnitude and the only way to bring the necessary resources to bear would be through cooperation. Something we wouldn't do out of mutual suspicion and ideological divides. You are right that competition drives us forward but it also holds us back.

приятный, ЧЕЛОВЕЧЕСКИЙ голос, интересный, познавательный фильм (не видос, а фильм!), что с нами сегодня стряслось? мы превратились в свиней у кормушки, не поднимающих рыла к звёздам...

Is it just me, or does this wonderful film show the Soviet Union to be not at all like the American propaganda machine depicted it. I love the scientists that look like small town school teachers, but were probably at the top of their field, the female cosmonauts were not relegated to making the coffee, like in American films, the costume designs, especially the spacesuits, and the family at the end, their spacesuits! The lady had a skirt on hers!. This is calm, informative, even though I dont speak Russian, and reveals a country that was not warlike and defensive, but aspirational and generous of spirit. When did a NASA film include the contribution of philosophy to space science education? Thank you for posting this and the people who did the restoration. Where can I buy a red spacesuit robot toy? I really want one!

Still, the former Sovjets had a lousy image problem, very cleverly taken advantage of by America. However much loathesome U.S. politics are, I'd rather live in a USA sphere of influence than Russian......

this itself was soviet propaganda since actual life there was not Utopian in any way shape or form, for you to dismiss one as propaganda while assuming the other isn't is pretty naive
NATO expands eastward by invitation well Russia annexed part of the Ukraine well Vladimir Poopin still lies about having no Russian troops in the Ukraine.
This is just a Soviet propaganda movie in the guise of Sci-Fi

Удивляет обилие англоязычных комментариев. Кажется, их даже больше чем русскоязычных.
А ещё поражаюсь качеству "комбинированных съёмок" - тогда же небыло компьютерной графики, как тогда они снимали лаву, заполняющую кратеры? Это вязкая жидкость и песок? Выглядит очень натурально. Лунные скафандры, изготовленные для съёмок.... Интересно, они в оригинале тоже были красными?
На youtube есть учебный фильм для студентов "яблочко 1946. союздетфильм", демонтирующий эти эффекты. Клушанцев применял их по-своему.
Скафандры наверняка красные - на них надпись "СССР". Было бы странно, если бы фон для неё был оранжевым или фиолетовым.
Меня тоже удивляли поначалу комменты на английском, французском, испанском, итальянском и т.д. Пообщавшись с людьми оставившими комментарии понял, что многим из них меньше 30 лет и про СССР они знали только что советские люди были дикарями угрожавшими всей земле, жили в землянках, пили водку из самоваров и делали атомные бомбы в ГУЛАГЕ. Для них такие ролики на Ютубе были огромной неожиданностью, буржуазная пропаганда десятками лет им мозги промывала, и вдруг...
Я помню как нашёл в детстве фигурки космонавтов из пластмассы, их можно было сажать в вездеход на батарейках , советские игрушки были такие , очень похоже на то что в этом фильме показывают. Вот это была популярность у космонавтов и всего что с ними связано.
Иллюстрации советских времен меня всегда впечатляют больше современной "идеальной" графики. Супер!

I would love many of my colleagues to to understand and appreciate the wonderful magic created by Pavel Klushantsev so long ago.
Those spacesuits are FANTASTIC, especially the little chequered kilts.
Thats the freemason chequering. Remember wasn't the 1st thing the alleged flag the Americans took to the moon a the scottish rite of freemasonry flag... bunch of demonic lucifer worshippers & minion underlings of the dews.
When they made this they still thought the moons surface was covered in deep layers of dust you could sink into.
The exact nature of the lunar surface was not known until Luna 9 and Surveyor 1 landed in 1966.

Very nice, fun, and prophetic film! I like the way they show the now-accepted LEM (lunar lander, lunar orbit rendezvous) method. Originally, it was presumed that the entire ship would land on the moon, but using a LEM saves propellant. In 1965, there was a lot of debate on just what the surface of the moon would be like... the soil, for example. Some thought it'd be hundreds of feet of dust. This film addresses a lot of the unknowns.
I checked a NASA image from the year before-1964, and they also had the lunar lander and command module arrangement that they eventually used on the moon, so this was not prophetic.
Since back then, we learned there are small pockets of ice so the moon isn't as barren as we thought. I admire the creative suits and wonder of the film.
Beatiful. I've seen in some documentary that after the Apollo mission, Russians said they never wanted to go to the moon anyway, but this proves that they did.

This is a great one. It covers so much as straight forward education and a beautiful, colorful dream. I was born before Sputnik and grew up in America with similar education; we are that generation. The modeling and art are so well done, and I was glad to see the artist’s hand near the end.
Another film with sentimental mood and music is Karel Zeman’s ‘Baron von Munchausen’.
We should shift our energies, our economies and get on with this dream.

Факт из советского журнала "Пионер" : Из лунного грунта можно делать бетон. (до сих пор помню эту фразу)
Вполне вероятно т.к. там присутствует негашеная известь из-за отсутствия воды. Впрочем есть новость за 2019 год: "В России думают, как превратить лунный грунт в бетон, рассказал ученый"
Очень понравилось! Местами, правда, язык инопланетный встречался в фильме.

Re comment from Howard Maryon-Davis. You are correct. I've watched many Soviet films from the 1960's, in Russian and without subtitles or translation, so were aimed at a domestic audience. Some light-hearted jests and jokes at the West, but invariably good natured, respectful and non-triumpalist.

This shows Soviets really went on the MOON! Given the rate at which cosmic dust accumulates, 4.5 billion years would have produced a layer on the moon much deeper than observed. Some scientists expected even as much as three feet of cosmic dust on the moon.

To create only the Russian subtitles for 10 minutes of film, it takes about 8 hours. So I do not plan to do subtitles for the "all" film.
I ended up subtitling the whole movie. :)

намечаются как и русские с 2011 года. Но экономическая ситуация и затем политическая ситуация были такие, что нужно зарабатывать и нет свободного времени ни для чего другого. Русский текст очень сложный. Пока добавил машинный перевод. Для более менее нормального перевода на английский, нужно переписать русский текст в более простом виде.

I have to agree with others, excellent shots of Lenov's spacewalk...and from an additional angle than I've seen before. There's a French channel version in b&w that's from down the ship that shows him coming out and floating free with an umbilical...it's not very good quality. Why are the versions of his spacewalk to poor? Where is the original?
