6:13 when hyungwon was about to but he wasn't, and wonho was trying to catch him but late lol, these cuties
First of all, there were a few hints given by MX about the MV itself. Wonho mentioned that the members who had their eyes open (I.M Wonho Jooheon and Kihyun) and the members who hadn't (Hyungwon Minhyuk and Hyungwon) are a clue. I guess that for the next 1.5 parts, those members who had their eyes open will have a bigger story/part. Minhyuk said that his hand didn't move, but Hyungwon's did when they were in the bathtub. This might mean that Minhyuk died sacrificing his life for Hyungwon (Wonho also said in this video that Minhyuk's character really cared a lot for Hyungwon), but, because of that heart(?) in the end, all members are there (looking better or actually got cured) so all of them lives and become a (super hot) CLAN. I just love them so much and I'm looking forward for their next MVs.

Generally! The storyline they're trying to say is that in this album "Lost", each member has like a weakness of some sort (or more accurately a sort of life test/trial)
For Shownu, it's poverty (ie lack of money to cure his father??)
For MINHYUK, it's his affection and love for hyungwon
For Hyungwon, it's family abuse
For kihyun, it's his disability.
(Wonho and I.M's part they said should be later on)
And they said each and every scene has meaning but they won't explain it all to us Monbebes cos it's up to us to figure it out but they'll just drop little hints here and there!

Ok so I've gathered some info, and just so you know, I am not going to tell my personal interpretation, just some stuff the members gave hints about (lol sorry for my bad english, this is not my first language)
Things that are important to notice and think about to understand the mv:
- Minhyuk said that in the bathtub scene, it is important the fact that Hyungwon's hand is moving and not his
- Wonho said that the "kinda" purple "THE CLAN" in the beginning has a hidden meaning. He added that their logo burning also has a hidden meaning.
- Kihyun commented on the scene where it looks like they are in a weird sect, he said that they drink something and that it brings them closer together
- Wonho said that the timeline isn't in order, it comes back and forth a lot. He also said that every scene is important and that you should ask yourself "What is this?" all the time
- About the scene where they zoom on their faces in the cave, Wonho said that it is important the fact that some members have their eyes opened (Kihyun, I.M, Jooheon and Wonho), and some are closed (Hyungwon, Minhyuk and Shownu)
- The scene at the end with the big purple thing moving is supposedly a heart and Minhyuk said "This scene, with our clothes, is non-realistic". He probably said that for a reason, but I personally have no idea why
- Wonho said that some little details, like color or shapes can give big hints about the meaning (so you can search the meaning/symbolism of purple, blue, fire, white, snow, x, whatever you notice in the mv)
Things that the members have explained:
- They talked a lot about pain. Wonho said that everyone lost something and that sadness was definitely very present in the mv. Minhyuk really cared about Hyungwon and he bets on something to protect him, that is his pain, Shownu's pain is poverty (his mother is sick and he wants to pay for some medical intervention, so he takes the gun that jooheon gave him, but when he returns, his mother is not there anymore, he lost her. So he burns the money(I know it's not well explained, but I can't say too much info, because I'm not sure about it, it's mostly my interpretation)), Hyungwon is abused by his father (the scene where he's being hit by a man and when we see his beaten face) and Kihyun's pain was related to his body (the scene where he runs in the snow, clearly suffering) Wonho didn't talk about the other members' pain, but I think the other characters were less important for the story. (Maybe that is why they talked about their eyes being closed or opened, because Jooheon, I.M, Kihyun and Wonho had their eyes opened and their characters weren't really important in this mv)
- The thing inside the bag that Jooheon gave to Shown was a gun (Jooehon and Shownu didn't even know what was in the bag before filming the scene, this was their real reaction)
- The scene where the building is on fire, Wonho believes the building was burned and that the father got arrested (Hyungwon's father, I think)(and I think it's Minhyuk, Wonho and IM who did it, probably to avenge Hyungwon)

I also want to add a few things that I’ve noticed and that others don’t really touch on.
1. The ‘timeline’ where everyone is in white clothing, I believe this to be after they have all taken in the blue flower. Whether it be liquid form, or as the flower(Larkspur, I believe) itself.
a. I quoted timeline because I’m not quiet sure that they are in a different timeline but more suspended. Purgatory if you will.
b. The real timeline is everything else, them in regular clothes.
2. The member clearly state that every has pain.
Ex.
-Minhyuks’ pain is Hyungwon getting hurt, feeling guilty for not being able to help.
a. I believe him and Hyungwon to be in a relationship but the religious group doesn’t wouldn’t agree with it so they try to hide it.
-Hyungwons’ pain is his abusive father.
a. Some people have mentioned that he was forced to participate in the religious activity. I’m not 100% sure on this but I believe it to be true.
-Kihyuns’ pain is physical. His body is deteriorating, almost like he has a disability.
a. You can see throughout the video he’s always limping or holding on to someone or something, I believe a cane.
-Shownus’ pain is being unable to help the person in the hospital.
a. I’m not sure the relationship between him and the person but many have guessed. I wont specify.
-Wonhos’ pain is emotional. He is the optimist of the group. Trying to keep hope and not start fights.
a. This is a personal guess but when Wonho in the commentary states that he’s always smiling in the mv. I can only assume that’s his role in the mc.
-Jooheons’ pain is family issue, the opposite of Shownus’. He has money but he doesn’t like it for an unknown reason.
a. I believe this to be true because of a few things.
1. His clothes, throughout the real timeline they are different than the others. They’re more fitted, has accessories (his hat), while everyone else has baggy clothes like they were passed down from family or bought as a necessity.
2. He had a gun. As Minhyuk mentioned in the commentary, it would be weird if Shownu had the money to buy the gun but not help the person in the hospital. But this doesn’t exactly mean that Jooheon got it by fair means. He could have stolen.
3. He was the one who brought the Blue Flower. Now i’m not 100% sure of this but he was the one performing the ritual and when I think about people want to show something off they usually prepare ahead of time. Doing researching, trying/testing it out or having experience with it. This leads me to believe that this is how his parents are making money (by selling the Larkspur).
4. When he pulls the gun up to his head. That’s a classic ‘What are you going to do about it’ kind of position. They members state that in the commentary. The main character of shows often do that and they’re usually the rich kid that knows they have power over other people. If they make a bad situation they have enough money to take care of it.
5. I also believe he’s the unofficial leader of the Clan (the members in the mv). He’s often leading them somewhere or the one giving advice.
6. In the MV Kihyun starts off with a stick to help him walk, later he’s seen throwing crutches, which can be very expensive. Jooheon maybe the answer for him optioning them.
b. I know I made some good reasonings for him being rich but going through all this, it also makes me feel like he might be a drug user or a criminal. The bad kid always getting in trouble and turned to the streets for attention. I’m not sure but he was one of the hard characters to understand.
-I.M.s’ pain is naiveté. He barely shows up and I believe that’s the whole point to his character development. He knows what’s happening but hasn’t fully grasp his own opinion on it. He’s made friends and wants to keep them, protect them.
a. I.M. is often seen with Wonho, almost Wonho is looking out for his younger brother; keeping him near.
b. He is mainly in the back of the group, following behind the members.
3. The giant heart in the sky during ‘Purgatory’ ‘Timeline’. I want to say that it’s a real heart. I say this because the CGI is really good (as Minhyuk says in the commentary), too good. Like there’s a reason they made is so good.
a. The heart is blue, I’m sure this is an easy connection but it’s blue because of the Flower. They all consume it or are covered in it (during the ritual) and it has reached their hearts.
b.I believe that they had to find this heart to return from ‘Purgatory’, either to the previous timeline or to a new one.
4. Clothing color in the Real Timeline. I highly suspect that this is a very important to the MV. So the main colors range from pitch black to pure white, I don’t believe anyone changes clothes for the whole MV. Also, Wonho in the Commentary mentions how the clothing, makeup and imagery are very well made. Feels like a clue.
a. White is innocence, pure of heart, good intentions. Black is evil, bad intentions, doing wrong and thinking bad. Also why I believe the beginning if the MV is Monotone.
b. Every character , even the background one ( store keeps, guards and religious affiliates) are wear colors in that range. The store owners and wear white, the guards black and the religious affiliates dark blue. Now, nonblack n white color should just be thought of in a monotone spectrum.
c. I’m not sure if hair color, and shoes color matters or the exact position of the clothes matter.
1. The store owners and all white, innocent not a culprit in the crime; bystanders. Guards, all black. They do bad, are bad and know it, but the religious group is a bit different. They wear dark blue, which would be a charcoal; almost black. Their intentions seem just but are deep down are bad.
2. Each of the clan members are wearing a variety of colors.
Ex.
-Hyungwon, pitch black. Does bad things, is related to the religious group and believes he’s nothing
-Minhyuk, grey hoodie, khaki vest and black shorts. He feels guilty for hiding and not helping Hyungwon sooner, giving him a grey torso. He then does something bad and that gives way to the black shorts.
a. I’m not sure if the fact that he has shorts instead of pants means any thing but you can figure that out.
b. He does change clothes and is the only one to do so. In the very beginning he is wearing a large, all white hoodie, almost like a cloak and no vest. I’m not sure if this is on purpose or not.
-Jooheon, pitch black shirt and camo pants with a dark blue hat. He is a ‘bad guy’ in terms of he does bad things, know that it’s a bad thing and considers himself bad. However, his actions are not the exact same actions as the guards or religious group. They are however on the same scale and he knows it but doesn’t believe he himself is as bad as those people, hence the ‘grey hat’.
-Kihyun, medium grey sleeveless shirt, black pants and a black undershirt. He is injured, maybe sick. He feels like this causes him to be a burden, someone who they have to look out for and slow down for. He wants to be better but doesn’t know how how. Greyed with doubt and black with guilt.
- I.M., he has a large white t-shirt, a medium grey long sleeve undershirt and black pants. He is the character with the most to figure out. He wants to be good, the white shirt, he just isn’t sure he is, they grey undershirt. He also knows that he has done a bad thing but for what he hopes is a good reason.
- Wonho, wear a large, light grey shirt, a medium grey undershirt and khaki pants; which would also be grey. He is the most in between person. He knows that they aren’t going about this the best was and tries to help them stay with good intentions but he knows that he wants to protect everyone as well. His intentions are always for the best and he tries to go about it the best way.
- Shown, also a large, white shirt and light blue jeans. Every few scene changes you also notice he wears a black tank. Outside he tries to keep up and do good by everyone but that drags him down and fills him with guilt. Leads him to do bad things to try to protect the right people.
d. The ritual scenes also have them wearing all black, solid black. Doing something wrong, know that it’s wrong and not caring. Bad intentions.
e. There are monotone moments in the ‘Purgatory’ ‘Timeline’ which could mean they have meaning but I’m not too sure. These scenes have them wear all white with cream accessories. This I can not 100% explain but I think if it as them wanting to start over, start pure but with the knowledge of what they did wrong.
f. The mask. The represent good intention, hiding behind a bad deed.
1. Four people have them, Shownu, Wonho, I.M. and Hyungwon. Shownu considers wearing his but decides to face his actions head on. Wonho wears his to show his good intentions. I.M. does the same but in a more powerful sense. He is deciding which side he is on. Hyungwon wears his to literally cover his pain. He wants to be good, do good but can’t seem to get there(especially in his ‘fathers’ eyes).
2. Minhyuk doesn’t wear one while going to burn down the building for the same reason as Shownu. He knows what he’s doing and wants the people who did wrong to know he did it.
5. I don’t believe the Fake Snow to represent snow, but ash. This is a popular opinion but I wanted to mention it again as it would mean a lot more. Furthermore Minhyuk in the beginning of them playing the MV mentions not recording in the winter, which was an answer to Monbebes concerns but I feel like he had a second meaning towards it. Although Kihyun refers to is as fake snow and not ash or anything else. I’m not sure but I think of it as ash.
6. During the ritual everyone partakes in using the liquid, which we can assume is the Flower turned into liquid. I think this is where their bodies become connected. Kihyun mentions them becoming connected and affectionate with each other during this moment. I believe it’s just them become inseparable, combing hearts if you will.
There are something that were mentioned and/or that I thought of that I wanted to also write down.
1. The Monsta X symbol fading away at the end of the video. Wonho mentioned in the Commentary that the symbols had meaning, is this one included.
2. The video ends with them in ‘Purgatory’. Is that the correct time frame?
3. The scars/injuries on their face towards the end of the video. How did they get there, do they represent something?
4. The fog/gas/mist they walk through in ‘Purgatory’. Is it tied in with the fires they set, does it help explain the ash in the air?
5. The colours of the paint on their faces. Some have a lot more paint then others. Not every has the same colors. Does it have anything to do with their eyes being open? Do the colors have a meaning themselves?
6. Does Minhyuk give his life in exchange for Hyungwons? He’s the last person seen in the real timeline alive, is there a purpose?
7. Hyungwons hand moved but they all are in ‘Purgatory’ together, is this event not in that order? Also, why are there so many plants in that bathroom.
8. Did Hyungwons’ father drown him?There are something that were mentioned and/or that I thought of that I wanted to also write down.
9. They all end up in different place in ‘Purgatory’, does that mean they arrived at different times and does that have to do with them ingesting the Blue Flower?
10. Why does Wonho and Minhyuk switch places while watching the building burn?
11. Kihyun’s stumbling in the real timeline but ends up running into the ash. Are they physically entering purgatory, or is this a representation on Kihyun character catching up?
12. That’s Hyungwon stumbling out the building right? Why didn’t anyone tell him to get out before they set it on fire? Or was he the one to set the fire while others gassed it?
13. Does the shape of the paint on their face mean anything? I noticed that they have ‘X’ of the sort on them, do they all have it and what does it mean?
14. We can clearly see the letters ‘SEAR’ on I.M.s sleeve, should we know what they means? ‘No Signal Searching’ ‘ CHING DBYG [L1R] No’
15. When does the ritual take place? Before the death of Hyungwon? Before the Shownu burns the money? Before the beginning of the MV?
16. Does Wonho actually drink the liquid, or is he just pouring it in himself?
17. Is the mask Shownu had previously wrapped around his gun?
18. Did the trio actually set fire to the building or did some else do it? Are we sure that’s gasoline in the jug?
19. Where exactly and How did Jooheon get this gun.
20. Shownu and Hyungwon have ‘family’ outside the group, does anyone else?
21. Jooheon the badass and Hyungwon the flowerboy. Why are they the only three to show up in this scene?
22. Why does Hyungwon have the flower? Where did he get it from and why is he giving it away. Does this happen before the ritual?
23. Why is the Monsta x symbol burning and why did Wonho say its important? Also, the background is blue, same as the Title. Is the blue burning important? Also, the fire is black n white.
24. Why does Minhyuk have different clothes in the beginning than in the rest if the video?
25. Why are they dressed like they are in a war? What are they running from? Who?
26. Hyungwon is ‘alive’ since he moved his mouth, but does that mean that he was gravely injured for Minhyuk to give him the flower? How was he injured? Where did the flower come from?
27. Where exactly are they, placement wise in the their army wear? Location, physically.
28. There are exactly scene in the beginning of the video and at the end along with the Monsta x symbol disappearing.
29. Were they in ‘Purgatory’ first by chance and then in real timeline? Is ‘Purgatory’ part if the real timeline?
30. Why is everyone having 2.5 parts important, and what does that mean?
I didn’t take a look at the lyrics and can’t understand Korean for the life of me so if you want to do more research, I’d say start there.
